Chapter 7 – The Eye of the Storm

The next day saw five women and one man flying out over the river towards what was called the West Bank by the locals. They scouted for a few moments before finding their targets. Rather, they found what was left of Molly Weasley and Ronald barricading himself in a room to get away from her and a couple of other zombies that were in the area. They just hovered for a few moments observing the scene not interfering with what was going on below them. By happenstance, Ronald looked up.

"Thank the gods that you are here," yelled Ronald upon noticing them there. "I wouldn't have survived long had you not come along. That half breed, Potter, just left me here and didn't come yesterday to bring us supplies. When mum went outside to get food for us, she was bitten. I will get even with Potter for this. He and his freaky boyfriend will be taught what it means to harm a pureblood. I hate him so much right now for what he has done to me and my REAL family."

"CRUCIO!" yelled six voices as they let loose on the red head for opening his mouth and spilling foul substances out again. Tom spoke to him after a moment. "You have spoken ill of Harry for the last time maggot. He and Seamus are able leaders with skills that will benefit the human race for decades and longer. You are nothing but a blemish on the human population. You will die for your mouth today. That they love one another and are together for life is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS."

"Not before I take you with me," hissed Ronald before he pulled out his gun and shot the Dark Lord. Tom fell from the sky with a surprised look on his face. The others were just as surprised as he was. Ronald had been under the Cruciatus by six people at the same time. He was still able to somehow aim the gun and shoot the Dark Lord. The women of the group all turned to him as one.

"You are going to regret that," said Harry flying into sight. "You should have just learned to shut your mouth. You will never get the chance to harm another living soul again. On this day, I am your trial. On this day, I am your jury. On this day, I am your executioner. You will not live to see tomorrow. Somehow I knew something would go wrong when I heard that Tom was coming here. Michael did say that Lord Hades was taking him soon."

"Just be extremely careful Harry," advised Albus summoning all of Ron's weapons out of reach. "He might get your clothes dirty when you kill him. You do know that Marge will berate you if you have to get more clothes due to blood stains. You seem to be the one in front of her the most asking for new clothes."

As Harry was landing, Ron was standing there in shock. They were talking about taking his life like it meant nothing to any of them. Looking around, he could see in the eyes of everyone standing there that his life didn't mean anything. His own sister was looking at him like he was nothing more than a rotting corpse already. As he realized they hated him, he knew he would get the last laugh in as he had a thought in his mind during the night. Right now he was furious that they felt his life was nothing special. He would show them as he was from a very old family.

"You all claim to be so good," hissed Ronald as he wearily watched Harry come forward with the Sword of Gryffindor in his hand. "Yet you all use the dark arts on me. From there, you all talk about my death like I mean nothing. I am still a pureblood wizard and I can enact the ancient magic to make it so. Potter is a half-blood and I have more rank than he does."

"Oh I doubt that," said Arthur flying into view. "We all voted last night that your life is forfeit. I, Arthur William Weasley, Head of the Ancient House of Weasley, hereby strip Ronald Bilius of his Weasley family magics. He is hereby dismissed from the House of Weasley and will lose the rights to the magic and name. So I say the words, so mote they be!"

"I, Harry James Potter, Head of the Black, Potter, Slytherin, and Gryffindor names, hereby release Ronald Bilius from the Prewett family," intoned Harry. "As the only male with more than one Ancient and Noble name is his lineage, I hereby release Ronald from the family name and the family magics. As I say the words, so mote they be!"

The ancient magic flew from Harry and Arthur and slammed into Ronald. The red head screamed in pain as the magic was torn from him. He thrashed on the ground in agony until the magic was totally drained from his core. It wasn't long before he was laying there panting due to the after effects of both the Cruciatus Curses that was placed on him, as well as the magic draining from his core.

"It'll be hard to call forth the Ancient magic when you have no magic to use to call it forth," hissed Harry. "I hate you for making me have to do this. I hate you for all of the stupidity that you have put me through since I first met you. I hate you for hurting my partner with your stupid and unrelenting idiocy. I hate how you eat, dress, talk, and think. You are nothing. You came from nothing and you will return to nothing."

"You are nothing to no one," hissed Ginny in anger. "You were nothing more than an aggravation to many of us. You deserve what you are going through right now. I hope that Lord Hades makes you suffer in the Underworld. You deserve everything that you are getting and then some. I hate you. You caused me to try and harm Harry when he is nothing but good and kind. You are NOT his responsibility. Even mum was respecting him before she died. Did your mind not tell you that we COULDN'T get to you to send supplies?"

"There is a storm coming," snapped Narcissa taking over next. "None of us have time to fly across in the increasing winds as we have to board up the buildings. We don't have to send you supplies. You are banished due to not wanting to work with the community. It isn't our fault you are a loser. Your death DOESN'T mean anything to us as you aren't worthy to be counted amongst the living."

"Even with your demise, we will pass one more insult your way," stated Seamus in a voice that brooked punishment should he open his mouth. "From this day forward, we will not even refer to you by your birth name. From this day forward, you will be remembered as Dead Man Walking. That is all that you are and all that you have ever been. It is all that you will ever be in the Underworld as well. You belong with the demons that the Angels were fighting against. You would rank supreme there I'm sure."

With that, Harry raised his sword and with one clean sweep, he sliced the head off of the offending red head. When he was done, he turned around and threw up. Even with the deed being necessary, he still took a life of someone living. Seamus and Luna landed next to Harry and held him as he cried. Albus lifted his wand and caused the body of Ronald to disappear. Onyx looked over as the red head landed in the fire pit. She blew a stream of fire in the pit burning all of the bodies that had accumulated. While she was doing that, the group turned and looked at the Dark Lord.

"I won't make it for much longer," said the Dark Lord. "Harry, I need you to make sure that the Slytherin name carries on in your children and their children. Our legacy must carry on. Don't feel bad for me. Lord Hades will punish me for my crimes, but he will still have use for me in the Underworld. He has already claimed all of my soul containers. I am the last part. You must move on and not let what happened today bring you down. You are far better than anyone that I have ever met. It has been a privilege to be your enemy. It has been a privilege to be co-leader with you. Finally, it is forever more a privilege to call you brother and family. For what it's worth, I am sorry that I made your life so hard. James and Lily would be very proud of the wonderful young man you have become."

With that, Tom closed his eyes and passed from the world of the living. Harry turned to the sisters to make sure they knew to ensure that Tom didn't become one of the undead before he allowed his lover and Luna to lead him back home. They still had a hurricane to deal with after all. Even the gods had to let Mother Nature have her time.

Once Harry calmed down enough to function, he began to work with some of the Louisiana natives on what to do to make sure their haven survived the storm. According to the ones listening to radio, the storm was rapidly approaching a category five hurricane. The reports on the radio gave Harry hope as it meant that there were people still alive and working to make sure that the human race survived the apocalypse. Of course it helped when you had the ear of the God of the Skies as well as the God of the Oceans.

The following days saw a flurry of activity in the area. The residents of Potter's Haven, as it was now called, were either busy shoring up windows, fighting the undead, or getting what they needed in order to weather the storm. Magic and spells were flying back and forth as wards, runes, and any number of charms was cast on the buildings to make them safer from the steadily rising winds that were coming into the area.

Finally the storm was upon them. Everyone that was anyone was holed up in their homes. Even the magical part of the population was tucked safely in their homes. Harry and Seamus were busy talking with the women that were carrying their children. While they couldn't go outside, they did have charmed mirrors that told everyone who was where. They even had the fireplaces set up with floo access.

After their conversation with the mothers of their unborn children, Harry and Seamus decided to do like everyone else. They got comfortable and enjoyed the pleasant evening. They decided that it was time to just enjoy each other's company and give in to some much needed passion. All duty and thoughts of the Haven were erased as they enjoyed each other.

The following days saw the people trying to get things cleaned up. It took the better part of three days for the storm to pass. Even after the storm passed, the rain kept falling. People that were hardy enough went out to check on everyone. Harry and Seamus were at the forefront of people checking up on everyone. Storm or no storm, it was still his job as leader to make sure that everyone was safe.

Once the living were checked up on and assured they were fine, others came out to help with the cleanup of the debris that was thrown around during the storm. Others came out and began to patrol the perimeter to make sure that those that were not living hadn't been able to breach their defenses during the storm. They also wanted to make sure that none of their walls or fences had fallen.

"Bella, get a team together and check all of the empty houses for me," requested Harry. "We have far too many empty buildings for my liking. We need to do a monthly check until we can get those houses filled with the living. Maybe one of the non-magical people can get on a radio and broadcast that we are surviving and so forth."

"We can always set up proximity alarms," she suggested. "Once we check a house, we can set an alarm on it so that if anything enters we will know about it. We can use a certain color on the front doors so that those without magic will know what houses are supposed to be empty without setting off the alarms. The houses that are occupied by our people can be a color other than say, red. I'll get Filius to help me get that done. It'll take us about a week."

"We should also look into bringing livestock here," suggested Hermione tapping her chin in thought. "It isn't like we can't build them a pen of some sorts on the outskirt of the Haven. We have the manpower and the space. With so few humans living, Mother Nature will take back her planet. Lady Demeter will assist with that. This will help us supplement our food intake and such."

"Both are solid plans," agreed Harry. "I approve of both. I happen to know that some of you are insisting that I take a break, but I just can't as there are more zombies showing up around our area by the day. Even killing twenty of them each, we are getting twice that amount by the day. I might have to get the dragons to start coming in to scorch the area once a day. That will help us out immensely. I already have them burning buildings away from this area so that the undead have less hiding spots."

"We could always try Fiendfyre," suggested Severus. "While it's dangerous to use, there are a few of us that can control it provided we have someone looking out over us during the casting. I know that Bella, Harry, Hermione, Albus, Filius, and Lucius are all capable of casting it and holding it."

"That is an idea, but I think we should use that as a last resort as so many things can go wrong with that," suggested Albus. "While we could do it, it doesn't take but a second of lost concentration for it to get away. We don't want to hurt anyone that is living. The undead are hard enough without an accident causing some of our numbers to dwindle. How are things with finding survivors?"

"I have seventeen new people in quarantine at the moment," reported Draco. "Uncle Vernon found them on his foraging party. So far none appear to be turning. One of them even has magic. She has been helping this group for close to a month now. They were about ten miles out when Uncle Vernon spotted them in the store we were going to clear out. They have three days left of quarantine before they are able to be sent into the populace."

"Before you ask, the parties are bringing in loads of stuff," reported Marge speaking next. "Thanks to the elves, we have expansion charms on the rooms to hold the influx of stuff. We won't be running out of food or new clothes any time soon. Then again, if I see Harry once more asking for new clothes, I will have to rough him up a bit. You are in front of me practically daily asking for more clothes."

"Sorry Aunt Marge," replied a sheepish Harry while everyone else laughed. "I will endeavor to try and not ruin any more of my clothing, but I make no promises on the success. I just wish the zombies didn't explode when you hit them with a spell. Not only do you get drenched in their bodily fluids, but you get hit with the smell. It's rather disgusting."

"At the rate you are going, I should just give you lots of swimming trunks and forbid you from wearing clothes at all when you are out on the field," she suggested with a smirk. "I have your new clothes already in your house. Dobby asked me for some and of course I can't say no. You are working harder than just about everyone else. I couldn't be more proud of you. It's just a shame that I have your size memorized as you are always in need of new clothes. Then again, Mr. Finnegan is just as bad as you are some days. The two of you are going to give me a head full of gray hairs at this rate."

Everyone laughed at this. They knew that Harry was a hard worker that was determined to keep his growing family safe. He loved everyone and treated them with respect and dignity. Everyone returned those sentiments just as equally. Seamus was just as fierce in his devotions as Harry was. Side by side, the two could carve out a route in the undead leaving the bodies for the elves to bring to the fire pits. From there, they would turn and do it all over again.

"So getting back to our suggestion, Charlie can go talk to the dragons for me and get them to start making a sweep on the West Bank," said Harry. "If we can get the other side of the river warded, we can keep our livestock over there. The smell of farm animals would be lessened if they aren't close to us. If push comes to shove, we can also put them on the other side of the Basin, but again, that is a smaller bit of water and the smell would carry for those that live in that area."

"I'll get right on that," promised Charlie before apparating away.

Harry grinned as he knew the Weasley man would get the job done. The groups were starting to get together in teams to make sweeps around the area in longer searches. Due to the larger size, the scouting parties were taking longer to get from point A to point B. This wasn't a big concern, but it was starting to get harder as they needed to fight zombies the entire time.

"I have taken the liberty of opening up the old French Market to everyone to get supplies," remarked Marge. "Petunia has been a huge asset to me there. We find that it's easier for you all too just go and grab what you need rather than reporting to me all the time about what you need. The elves just come and get stuff when we need it at the market and fill the empty containers. I have an easier time with the inventory now that we have done that."

"If it works for you and is easier, we can't really complain," replied Albus before the charm Harry cast on him activated and turned him into a Southern Bell again. Glaring at Harry, the old man left the area until the charm reset. The rest of the group was laughing at this. Harry just smiled in humor before casting the counter on the charm. He needed the old man right now as he and Seamus were going to be married in a few days.

"I guess we can let him have some fun and not be pranked," he told the group. "If one of you wants to send him a message that I took off my charm I would appreciate it. Right now, I am going to go and take care of zombies. Everyone who is coming, get ready to head out in about ten minutes. This time, I think I will fly. I may get less blood and stuff on me that way."

Marge slapped him behind the head. Harry was shooting her looks while he stated what he did. She had to get him for being cheeky. Once he grinned after the slap, Petunia added one of her own to Seamus for thinking he was going to get out of it.

"Don't even think about it Finnegan," she said pointing a finger at him. "You and Harry are still our charges. The two of you are peas in a pod. I know you were about to get cheeky. Even though you are powerful, and a well working team, we will still worry about the two of you. Now get your butts on your brooms and get to work. I'll make sure that you both have a bath and food ready for when you are done."

With a final laugh, the boys headed out to get to work. If Petunia said she would deal with it, she would. The Dursley matriarch was good at keeping her word to make sure that Harry and Seamus had what they needed. Even Vernon was making a huge effort to make sure that Harry and Seamus were watched over and taken care of.

Other groups all headed out to get their portion of the community jobs done. Vernon and his team headed out in a bus to get more supplies for the haven. They were also on the lookout for living people. Thanks to the maps and some of the locals, they were able to expand and find more stores and malls to gather things from.

The teams quickly got to work on clearing out as much of the undead from their borders as they possibly could. The work was gruesome and in some instances downright disgusting, but they did what they had to do in order to keep the living alive. Onyx and her friends were also busy scouting or burning. Harry knew that the full moon was in a couple of days and Fenrir and his group would go across the river to decimate the ranks of the undead.

Seamus was in his element on days like today. Having always had a flare for pyrotechnics, he was able to handle fire better than most. Today was one of those days where his fire displays were beautiful and deadly all in one. If anyone could handle Fiendfyre it would be his love of his life. The young wizard stood by Harry and loved with everything in his Irish body.

"What type of music do you think we should have for the wedding?" asked Seamus while he worked. "The Aunts all stated that we are to write our own vows and if we want, we can have music as an open for our walks down the aisle. They also stated that we were to choose colors by no later than this evening so that they know what they are dealing with."

"I think that I would like green and white for my colors," said Harry changing his mind slightly from the previous talk about colors. "The emerald with the solid white would be a pretty contrast. What do you think?"

"I like it," admitted Seamus while Harry blasted a group of zombies from the ground. "I think I will go with red and white. This will give us a common color while still being different enough to appease the Aunts. They are very insistent that we get this done as quickly as possible. The wedding is supposed to be in five days."

"I know," smiled Harry. "I can't wait. I am also looking forward to having a week off for us to have an informal honeymoon. Albus was the most vocal when it came to making me promise to take some downtime and enjoy ourselves after the big day."

"I'm looking forward to that as well," stated Seamus. "I know we have been expanding our territory here, but I feel we are going to get too big and not be able to defend our borders that well. I think we should stop expanding and just continue to wipe out the undead. It isn't like we don't have to worry about them reproducing if they don't have anything to bite or such. We should concentrate on getting more living people before we expand. We should also stop all entrances into the city. If we do that, we can clean out the entire city and just go on cleanup duty around the other side of our borders."

"We can bring that up at the meeting," responded Harry. "That is a good idea and a sound worry. We have some of the muggles trying to find other living beings using computers and ham radios. Once we have them, the elves go and get them. So far we have found about twenty people. Things are getting better now that we have more people coming in. It's making for a growth if not as fast as we want. We are close to three thousand people now. We will grow more in the upcoming months."

"Shall we call it a day?" asked Seamus as the rest of their team gathered. "We have been at this for the better part of five hours. I don't know about you, but I could use a bath and a hot meal. Then I could use some serious sleep before the meeting this evening."

"Yeah I think we can call it a day," answered Harry before giving out some orders. "The meeting is in about five hours so we can get a nap in before we talk with the rest of the group leaders and such. I know that Arthur Weasley and Bellatrix have been doing very well in leading their groups. Uncle Vernon and the rest are doing an admirable job as well. I look forward to seeing us get more people and such."

After a nap, the boys were feeling better. They went about their business like usual. When the meeting began, they took their places as leaders of their groups. This was when they noticed that Draco was missing. Harry and his group went to the containment building and looked around. Draco was hiding behind a door and was desperately trying to keep a zombie out of the area he was in.

"What happened here?" asked Harry while he banished the zombie into an empty cell while Bella closed the door. "Where did this zombie come from and how did it get inside?"

"It came from the sewer," answered Draco. "I was in the process of bringing in our latest member to the Haven when it just popped right up out of the ground. Suffice to say, our member was bitten first and I was about to blast it when another came from the grate. We have to get all of the grates to stay in the ground and not move."

"Where are the member and the zombie that bit him?" asked Harry with fear growing rapidly.

"It's running loose in the Haven," responded Draco. "I was chased in here before I could really do anything. This zombie is stronger than the normal ones. Some of my spells had no effect at all."

"Damn," muttered Harry before sending out multiple patroni to the other citizens. "We have to do a sweep of the area and make sure that we don't have an all-out swarm. The last thing we need is to lose all progress we have already made. I want all teams to do a full sweep of the Haven. Make sure that all manholes and sewer grates are sealed shut permanently. We can't let them get into the area."

No one questioned him. They didn't even wait around. Everyone that was anyone knew what they had to do and how to do it. This was why everyone had their own team. Each person knew what was needed so that Harry didn't have to be everywhere at once. This was one of the reasons why the Haven was such a success.

It wasn't long before everyone that was anyone was working in the area. All of the house elves got together and went in with their human family to help clear the area. The goblins were also insistent that they get involved. As they were comfortable underground, a team of them went into the actual sewers to clean out the undead while making sure that all entrances that were there were sealed with metal gates that were magically placed into the walls of the tunnels.

Harry and Seamus took to the sky and went on a warpath together that made the other teams quietly move away from them. Harry rarely got angry, but when he did, the best of the best took off to let him be. With Seamus showing just as much anger, some of the community actually felt sorry for the zombies. The duo made a sweep through the mass that was forming near their border and wiped out close to five hundred zombies in a matter of minutes. From there, they started to level some of the buildings that were on the outside of their community.

Seamus took things one step further and started making spikes out of some of the wood and placed them horizontally on the outside of the Haven. Some of the other teams took his idea and ran with it. In the last few weeks since they were starting to take more ground, they managed to take over the area along the Mississippi River in the uptown area. They stopped at certain areas as they didn't have the manpower to cover and protect their area. They placed fences in strategic places within the Haven to make it harder for the zombies to get to their immediate living area in the Quarter and Marigny and all spots in between.

"The spikes will keep the zombies at bay for us in our area," stated Harry observing his mate attacking the spikes. "We can send someone out daily to clean off the spikes. This will help immensely. Thanks love. This was a brilliant idea. We can do this along the whole area we have for ourselves. From there, we can see about finding more people to join our community so that we can fill some of these buildings and such."

"There are other things that we can do, but I want to bring it to the group so that we can all see if it can be done in an orderly fashion without much damage done to the area," offered Seamus. "We aren't using the overpasses. I'm wondering if we can just move them and use them as walls to surround our area. There are miles and miles of overpass that is just sitting there collecting zombies. Taking off parts and reinforcing them and laying them on their sides would make a great outer wall."

"Good thinking," assured Harry. "Let's get back to the group and help clean out the Haven. We don't want any undead in there."

With that, the two leaders went out and began to scout.
