Sasuke held his hands up when both of his brothers cornered him. "What's the matter now?" He asked. "Sakura. What did you do to her?" Itachi demanded. "Nothing. I brought her to a party and she seemed to be having fun." Sasuke replied. "Then why did she call Shisui to come pick her up?" Sai went next. "I don't know. I guess she got bored." Sasuke shrugged. "She was attacked at the party you brought her to. Shisui took her to the hospital." Itachi said tersely. "I don't know anything about that. Last time I saw her, Sakura was laughing and having a good time with Suigetsu. I was pulled away by an ex-girlfriend and I didn't see her again after that." Sasuke replied seriously. "It's ok Sakura-chan. It's just us at the house. You won't have to go through an interrogation. I promise." Shisui's voice drifted to the trio. A soft murmur reached their ears but they didn't hear the words. "Absolutely. If you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable we can walk out anytime. I'll take you home and they can go fuck themselves." Shisui replied.
Itachi and Sai's eyes widened when Sakura came in with her brother. "Are you ok?" Itachi asked cautiously. "I'm slowly getting there. I have never felt so ashamed to be alive though." Sakura replied quietly. Her face was a rainbow of bruises from her attempts to fight her attacker off and her eye was still swollen. "I didn't know anything Sakura. I just brought you to have a good time. I held up our truce. I swear." Sasuke said. "I never understood why you hate me so much. I have never done anything to you except be myself. Yes I attacked you but you provoked me. I am thankful to you though. You led me to Dr. Orochimaru who has helped me out more than you could know. I'm not sorry for being who I am. I will never apologize for being myself. Even before I found out I was an Uchiha I would have forgiven you and still tried to be your friend but you continued to provoke me and even publicly humiliated me. So forgive me if I automatically blamed you for this." Sakura said tiredly. Sasuke sighed. "I'll admit I resented you because you were the only girl that turned me down. I couldn't believe it because I don't generally get turned down. That resentment turned to hate because you had the one thing I always wanted. But when I found out that you were my cousin, I dropped that hatred and resentment because there was nothing I could do with it. You were family now. I was actually happy that you were an Uchiha. It made it easier to understand why you could befriend my brothers and my cousin so quickly. And because you were completely unavailable because of your family status, I decided to stop being such a prick toward you and act like a human being. If I had any clue that you would be attacked at that party I would never have brought you." He said.
"I believe you. I'm good at telling when people are lying to me so I know you're not. I didn't come here to guilt you or anything. I just wanted to come here to see my dad." Sakura said quietly. "Uncle Katashi works during the day. He won't be home until after five." Sasuke bowed his head. "Was that boy your friend Sasuke? The boy that dragged me upstairs by my face." Sakura asked. "He was when we were younger. But he and I haven't been friends for a long time." Sasuke replied. Sakura nodded. "Do you know what he told me? The last thing I remember being said?" She asked. "No." Sasuke replied. "He said that it wasn't personal. He just owed a friend a favor and his friend was collecting. That's why I thought it was you that set this whole thing up." Sakura said quietly. "I didn't have a clue. Juugo stays at that house. Suigetsu only goes out there when he's throwing a party so Juugo has the run of the place mostly. I don't know who his friends are anymore and I don't care. I can't forgive him for what he did." Sasuke replied. Sakura nodded and sat down slowly on the couch. "I felt so stupid you know? I kept berating myself for letting you talk me into that party but now that you've explained yourself, I wouldn't mind if you invited me to another one." She said a little cheerfully. "I'll definitely make sure Juugo won't be at any other parties in the future." Sasuke replied. "I was afraid to go home because I knew if I showed up looking like this, nothing I could say or do would stop my cousin from killing you. Gaara takes my well being very seriously. He doesn't know about Katashi being my father. He doesn't know that we've called a truce and he doesn't know that you're making amends for your bad behavior. All he would hear is that you took me to that party and therefore it was your fault that I was hurt. It wouldn't even matter that you didn't have anything to do with it at all or that you weren't even near me when it happened because he hates you that much. He's never seen you act like a normal guy. He's only seen you act like a colossal jackass. But luckily for you he didn't see the photo shopped pictures you posted around the school or he would have already put you in the hospital." Sakura said. Sasuke blushed. "I'm sorry about those. I was so angry and I just wanted you to suffer. It was stupid and childish but at the time I thought it was fitting." He admitted. "After I got over my initial shock, fury, and humiliation I was surprised. They looked so real and even I blushed a little at some of them. Don't worry about it though. I'm not looking for revenge or anything. Now I look at them and laugh when I feel down." Sakura laughed.
Sasuke paced the living room after his brothers and cousins left to go to the mall. He was furious that Juugo had done something to stupid just after he had managed to gain a little trust from the pink haired girl. "Yo Sasuke I heard what happened. I'm sorry I didn't keep a better eye on her." Suigetsu said as he leaned in the doorway. "I was earning her trust slowly but surely. Juugo fucked that up. Now I'm worried that she'll never trust me again. Itachi, Shisui, and Sai are pissed because I didn't protect her. The Akatsuki will know by tomorrow. She's their princess. I have to pray that she can convince them that it wasn't my fault." Sasuke snapped. "What did Juugo do to her?" Suigetsu asked. "I don't know. All I know is that he dragged her up the stairs by her face and attacked her. That's it." Sasuke replied. Suigetsu nodded. "Juugo mentioned that he had done something stupid. He was worried that she'd go to the cops." He said. Sasuke laughed hollowly. "She doesn't need to go to the cops. All she has to do is tell Uncle Katashi that Juugo attacked her and Juugo will disappear without a trace never to be seen again." He replied. "I would definitely not want to be in Juugo's shoes when she decides to retaliate." Suigetsu whistled. Sasuke nodded with a frown. "What I don't understand is who's this friend he told her he was paying a debt to? I didn't ask him to do anything to her." He said. Suigetsu blinked. "There was a guy that talked to Juugo earlier before the party started. He said he was her neighbor or something. He told him that Sakura would be at the party with you and that when she was alone, to rough her up a little and teach her some manners." He said. "Do you know who it was?" Sasuke asked. "No but I know he hangs out with some of the worst people at school. Worst than the Akatsuki. They have no ethics and absolutely no qualms about hurting innocent people to get what they want." Suigetsu replied. "Damn." Sasuke grunted. "I like Sakura. She's cute and she's nice. She didn't give a shit about my freaky appearance or Kisame's. That alone endeared her to me. She's also super fun to talk to and hang out with. I'd like to help her out with this." Suigetsu said seriously. "Thanks. I'm sure she'd appreciate it." Sasuke replied honestly. "You're my friend Sasuke. I would like to think Sakura is my friend too. I don't bail out on my friends when they need me." Suigetsu said seriously. "I know you don't." Sasuke replied.
