Daryl was pulling into the parking lot of his apartment complex before he noticed some asshole had parked in his spot, usually people knew better. It was some shitty truck at that, the thing had definitely seen better days. Not that Daryl's truck was brand new looking by any means, it was older but he fixed it up and took care of it. He ended up parking in one of the guest spots that were all the way on the opposite end of the lot from his apartment. And it's not that he cared that he had to, he was just pissed by the general fact someone had taken his spot. It wasn't a good day already; he had gone out hunting and hadn't caught anything. Daryl guessed it wasn't a total loss though; he enjoyed just getting out and away for while even if he hadn't caught any game.

Daryl checked the time before he got out of the truck and saw that Beth would probably be stopping by soon. At least that's what she had told him yesterday. She had graduated from school a couple of months of ago and had gotten a job at a small mom and pop diner downtown. She did have plans of going to school but not until next year and she had said she just wanted to go to the community college, nothing too extensive. She didn't live with him, but she might as well have. She stayed there quite a bit, and stuff sort of had a way of just showing up in his apartment. First it was small like leaving some body wash when she showered there, then more and more clothes started getting left behind with no intention of being taken back to her sister's house. Daryl honestly couldn't find it in himself to care though. He figured the thought of Beth living with him would make him want to keel over, but here they were.

Daryl made his way up the stairs to his front door going to unlock it but finding that it was already unlocked. He stood for a second recalling if he had just forgotten to lock the door or if someone would be dumb enough to break into his house. When he walked inside though he nearly shit a brick.

"Merle?"

"Hey baby brother long time no see!"

It was Merle, living and breathing and in the flesh standing in his living room. He looked haggard like he hadn't showered in a few days and was just coming back from a nasty hangover and god knows what else. Daryl hadn't seen him in over five years. He had come home for a little bit after his mom had died but left again and that was the last he had heard from him.

"What the hell are ya doing here? How the hell did ya get in?" Daryl asked looking around wondering how the fuck his brother found out where he lived. The second part wasn't hard to guess, leave to his brother to break into his house.

"That's no way to greet yer big bro now is it Darleena?" He said coming and clapping Daryl on the shoulder.

"Where you been all these years?" Daryl spoke ignoring the annoying nickname he had for him.

"Around. Sightseeing. Finding myself ya know that sort of shit." Merle said searching around Daryl's apartment with his eyes.

"See ya got yerself a lady friend of the sorts…" Merle smirked devilishly.

"How tha hell would you know?" Daryl snorted.

Daryl knew he should be happy to see his brother, and in some way he was. It was good to know he was still in one piece, but at the same time Merle hadn't changed at all and that's what he wasn't happy to see.

"Place is spotless, more than one pillow on tha bed, girly shit in tha shower. Who is she because she's got ya pussy whipped from tha looks of things…" Merle cackled.

Daryl exhaled a large breath through his nose trying to calm himself.

"Tha hell ya doing here Merle, really?" Daryl asked knowing there was most likely an alternative motive as to why he was getting a sudden visit from his brother.

Merle sighed.

"Can't I just come visit my only brother!?" Merle asked incredulously like he hadn't disappeared for years and was just stopping by to say hello.

Daryl just squinted at him.

"Got myself into bit of a jam brother…"

There it was.

"What kinda jam?" Daryl gritted out setting his crossbow down. He still had it in his hands and honestly didn't trust himself not to use it on his stupid ass brother depending on what his next reply was.

"One that involves some money I owe some people. The kind of people that don't take to nicely ta not being paid…"

"What? So you think you'd come in here and ask me for money!? Who tha hell do you think I am? I aint got no money to give ya?!" Daryl snapped.

"I aint asking for yer money. Just yer help baby brother."

"Tha hell you talking bout then?" Daryl glared at him. The nerve he had to just leave all these years and come back and act like he owes him favors or something.

Merle went out open his mouth before a certain blonde came through the door with groceries in her hands.

"Shit." Daryl mumbled under his breath.

Beth stopped in the doorway looking to Merle. You could see the second she recognized him. She then looked up to Daryl in questioning.

"You must be the lady friend!" Merle had a wicked grin on his face as he looked her up and down.

"Jesus Merle, its Beth…"

Merle had a look of confusion flash a crossed his face.

"Beth? That neighbor girl? That one you were always running around with when's we were kids…Shit this is just too good Darleena!" Merle was laughing hysterically now, maybe he was still high.

"Am I interrupting because I ca-?" Beth said shocked to see Merle Dixon standing in Daryl's living room.

"No. Nothing." Daryl spoke up glaring holes in Merle as he made his way to Beth to grab the bags from her.

"Are you sure? I can go…" Beth said to Daryl quietly as he got closer so just he could hear her.

"Naw. Yer alright darlin." He managed to give her a small smile despite his mood currently due to his brother.

She nodded still slightly unsure but made her way into the apartment. Although Merle didn't stick around much longer.

"Well I'll get out of yer hair. Imma be in town for a couple days or so. I'll be in touch." Merle specifically eyed Daryl and gave him a sharp nod not bothering to give Beth another look before exiting.

They both watched him leave. Beth looked to Daryl not really knowing what to say.

"He was here when I got home." Daryl gave a slight shrug.

"So he's just visiting? Where's he been all this time?" Beth stood a crossed from Daryl in the kitchen.

"He didn't say. Didn't really say anything at all…"

Daryl didn't want to tell Beth about Merle being in trouble right now, or that he needed his help with god knows what. She would worry about more than she had to, and Daryl didn't want that.

"Was it my fault? I told you I could go? It's okay if you guys needed…to I don't know talk or something." Beth questioned him shrugging.

"Nah. Really, there aint nothin for us to talk about." He assured her.

"Are you okay? About him being back? Really…" She asked her face full of concern.

Daryl sighed and nodded.

Beth ran her hand up and down his arm studying him, but his face gave nothing away for her to be alarmed about so she simply nodded back and kissed him softly.

"I brought you food." She smirked at him.

Beth swore that if she didn't bring him groceries he would never eat and would starve to death because he never went the store, and there was never any food in his fridge unless it was something she brought.

Daryl rolled his eyes.

"Greene, I aint gonna starve to death." He replied as if he had read her mind.

"I know. Because I brought you food." She said smugly putting away the stuff.

"Smart ass." He growled playfully grabbing her by the hips and spinning her to face him before claiming her mouth with his. His brother and his problems forgotten at the moment, as he got drunk off of everything that was Beth. She pulled back all but too soon.

"You're going to talk to him again though right? I mean you haven't seen him in-"

It was just like Beth to be so concerned about him and his brother. He admired that part of her, the part that cared so much (too much sometimes) but at the same time it annoyed him. He didn't want it to be her problem, to have her worry about it.

"Beth…" He shot her a look.

"Okay. Okay." She sighed before continuing to put away groceries.

Daryl's mind kept reeling with scenarios of what Merle needed his help for though. It could be anything. Most likely illegal, it always was. He knew it he would be seeing him again soon. He hadn't seen Merle in so long, hadn't talked to him. They weren't close, never really were honestly. But for some reason Daryl was glad he had showed up, even though the only reason he had was because he needed something. He guessed that's just what family was. Despite the shitty things they do, you still care about them. Merle was his only blood left. His father, but he didn't count. Daryl didn't have a father anymore. Will Dixon was just a name, a ghost of the past. Daryl had Beth of course, but Merle was his blood. His brother and he was back.

A/N I know it's a super short chapter I apologize, and also for the lack of Daryl and Beth but I didn't want to add any more to it. I promise ill update within the next few days with a good long chapter. Anyway I would still love a review, and tell me what you think about Merle coming back to town? What kind of trouble do you think he's about to stir up? (: Oh and also someone mentioned something about when was Beth going to lose her virginity, and I'm sorry if you missed it or if I didn't make it clear but she did in chapter 6, they both did actually. (:
