Chapter 27 The War
As soon as the kings army reached Arendelle They were greeted by massive walls of ice. Hans stood there snickering.
"You tried my dear queen but I already knew about your stupid walls." He turned around and yelled his command to every soldier. "Lower the catapults!"
One by one every soldier lowered the massive catapults. It took an entire team of men and the ships cracked in protest every time they moved them. They began firing massive fire balls at the north and south walls The ice began to melt and fall in huge chunks but Hans and the Duke had accounted for that leaving enough space so the damages to his army where minimum.
Elsa rode back as fast as she could .James was already waiting with the entire Arendelle battalion. They barely had time to greet each other when the first fireball hit the wall.
"What is your command your grace" asked James
"We wait, the only thing they have right now is the catapults. Their archers can't reach us here."
The southern Isles continued firing for what seemed and eternity every time they struck the walls got more and more fragile. Elsa was having a hard time rebuilding every segment of the walls that where crumbling there were just too many fireballs. From the castle's massive balcony Johannes could see the men were about to break the wall.
"Queen they are breaking our wall" said Johannes
"I know…get ready" said Elsa while struggling to keep the wall together
"Arendelle battalion the queen has ordered that we get in position. Defend your kingdom with all you have even if it is your life!" yelled James
Elsa gave her lover one last kiss before they headed for battle. It was quick but very urgent they for they both knew that I could be the last one.
In her room Anna could feel the castle shaking as the attacks continued she held her baby tight and bundled her up in case they needed to escape. Paintings and decorations where falling off the walls and the only thing that Anna could do were stay close to the wall for support. Rosalie stirred due to all the commotion while Sven and Olaf stood their ground guarding the door.
"We are almost there, I want you all to aim for the middle and destroy this fucking wall!" Commanded Hans. He could practically feel the royal families' blood on his hand.
With one last massive blow the wall collapsed braking into shards of ice. The Southern Isles army began to poor in heading straight for the castle. The Arendelle archers began to shoot bows and so did the opposing party. The soldiers on the ground charged towards the others while some stayed to defend the castles. One by one the men began to drop either stabbed or with an arrow to through their hearts. Elsa sent missive amounts of ice spears that impaled quite a few men while Kristoff and James fought the men that where trying to climb up the castle walls.
All of a sudden they heard another massive sound as the southern wall came down and more men charged in. At that moment Elsa and James knew they were being overpowered.
"What do we do?" asked James while he pushed another man off the wall.
"We can only hope that the men kill as many as possible!" Said Elsa
The queen sent a huge wave of ice to try and deter them.
"What about Anna? She is alone in there!" Said Kristoff
"Get her out of the castle send her to the trolls!" said Elsa
Kristoff and James where embroiled in fighting and could not get Anna to safety with ought risking the castles safety so Elsa decided to send Johannes.
"Get my sister to the trolls!" she yelled as she continued to send ice waves at every direction.
The Duke and King Hans rode in with more men and they were headed straight for the castle. Despite Elsa's best effort they were only a few feet away and carrying a huge log that they would use to knock down the huge door that guarded the castle.
Johannes barged into the room which startled Rosalie who began to cry.
"Princess Anna I need to get you out of the castle there is no time to loose!" He urged her
"How are we supposed to get out we are surrounded!" she said in tears
"There are some old service tunnels that we can use." He said as he hurried her out of the room
"Wait Sven and Olaf need to come with me." She said
"I'm sorry but they would only slow us down and we don't have time" he said
She took a deep breath and kissed both of her friends
"Stay here and please be careful." She said
Sven and Olaf looked sad but obeyed Anna's command and stayed put.
Johannes led Anna to the old part of the castle where the servants rooms where located and at the end of the hall he removed some bricks that concealed a small entrance. He squeezed threw and Anna tried to do the same but it was much more difficult to do without hurting the baby. He dress got tore on one of the bricks with some even falling on the ground but they were in such haste that neither of them stopped to pick it up
They kept walking through the underbelly of the castle with only the torch he carried as light. She could hear water dripping and the floor was incredibly slippery. She was trying to keep the baby as close to her chest as possible to make sure she didn't get wet or covered in whatever was growing on the ancient walls.
"We are only a few feet away from the old tower, after that it's only a few miles to the trolls."
"All right" said Anna while ignoring the chill that ran down her spine.
The door to the castle was beginning to give way and Hans used this as the perfect distraction.
"Duke you are in charge, I have other matters to attend." He said with a wicked smile
"Yes sir" he said
The Arendelle men had proven to be strong and more skilled than the criminals of the southern isles and slowly but surely they were beginning to prevail. The amount of people that where trying to climb up the wall had slowed down by now Elsa, James and Kristoff had moved inside to castle to prevent anyone from coming in.
"Kristoff we are fine in here I think you should make sure Anna is safe." Said Elsa
"Are you sure?" he asked while deep down inside he wanted nothing more than to be with her
"Yes go find her" she said
Kristoff took off and ran straight for her room and thought her was too late but upon further inspection he noticed a tuft of brown hair sticking out from behind a makeshift furniture barricade.
"Sven?"
All of a sudden Sven came tumbling out with Olaf
He licked Kristof's face while he wiggled his reindeer tail
"I'm so happy you're here I don't think that would have held for long." Exclaimed Olaf
"Where is Anna and the baby?" he asked
"They went that way "pointed Olaf
Suddenly they heard a loud blast that could be nothing other than the door breaking. They immediately took off in the direction that Olaf pointed
They hit a dead end once they reached the servants hall
"Dammit Anna where the hell are you" he growled
"Hey look at this"! Yelled Olaf while holding a piece of fabric.
"That's Anna's dress Olaf you are a genius."
Kristoff grabbed a torch and squeezed into the opening with Sven while Olaf waited outside.
As soon as the southern isles army entered the castle they were met with ice spears and swords the battle raged on inside while it had died down outside. The queen had no idea where her brother in law was but under the castle he could hear the entire battle while he tried to make his way through the maize that was the castle. After a few minutes of riding he started to find foot prints indicating that he was close.
Johannes led Anna to some stairs that she climbed very carefully trying to balance the baby and her body. Once she finished climbing she realized two terrible things one she was nowhere near the trolls and two they were not alone.
Inside the crumbling tower was none other than Hans. He stood there Smiling Anna's stomach dropped and she realized that he had plenty of time to plan this seeing as the room was well light. She tried to turn away and run to keep Rosalie from him but Johannes stopped her dead in her tracks. He had a word pointed at her neck.
"Turn around" he said
"Princess Anna it's been so long" said Hans sarcastically
She stood there feeling sheer terror
"I see you have nothing to say for once" said the king while raising an eyebrow.
Kristoff kept urging Sven to go faster but the footsteps seemed to last forever and the slipperiness of the floor made it no easy feat
"I understand that I am a father now" he said "The father of a monster"
"You are the only monster here Hans!" yelled Anna after finally finding her voice
"Don't raise your voice at his royal highness whore" spat Johannes
"And you why? Elsa trusted you" Said Anna trying not to show how disappointed she actually was.
"She is an ignorant cunt who trusted the first person who came through the palace doors. You people are so incompetent that you couldn't realize that I was the Rat the whole time I mean really and I was never on your side, only his" he said as he casually walked over to Hans and gave him an open mouth kiss.
"So it is true" said Anna
"Yes it is do you really think I could be attracted to you? I only used you like a rag but that doesn't matter because you and that abomination will die today." He said with a devilish look in his eyes while drawing his sword.
"NO!" yelled Anna but before she could react the sword bit into her leg throwing her to the ground. She was still holding the baby but the pain was incredible.
Hans took a step forward and snatched Rosalie away while Anna begged him to give her back.
"Hello monster" he said while he held the baby at arm's length. Rosalie cried, wiggled and kicked her legs trying to get away from the unfamiliar person that held her.
"Hans you don't have to do this" she said
"Shut up whore" said Johannes who promptly stuck her with the blunt end of his sword
Anna's vision went blurry and what she saw next was Hans drawing a dagger to kill their daughter. He was about to plunge it in when she let out a high pitched wail and then there was an explosion of ice unlike anything the princess had ever witnessed everything went silent then Anna's world went black.
Back in the tunnels Kristoff heard some muffled commotion coming from a distant corridor and hurried in that direction. As he got closer he realized it was none other than Rosalie's cries. He followed the steps and found the love of his life in a pool of ice blood and his daughter in the hands of a frozen Han's. He quickly pried the baby out of the disgraced king's hands and laid her next to her mother.
"Oh Anna my love." He said as he tore a part of his shirt off to stop the bleeding.
Once the bleeding was somewhat controlled Kristoff climbed on Sven with Anna and the baby in tow. He was riding as fast as possible but it was difficult for Sven to keep traction on the slippery floor. After what seemed like an eternity Kristof reached the end of the passage.
"Hold the baby please" said Kristoff as he handed her off to Olaf
Sven galloped down the halls until they reached the physician's quarters and once they reached the door Kristof Burst in. He found him with many of the other servants huddling in a corner.
"It's just you sir Kristoff, what Happened to Anna?" he said with both relief and confusion.
"That bastard Hans…It's her leg" He said
The old man promptly cleared a nearby table.
"Lay her down here I will take a look at her" said the physician who immediately sprang into action picking up vials and herbs
"Save her please" pleaded Kristoff
"I will do everything in my power now leave this will be too much for you to look at." He said as he began commanding servants
Kristoff wanted to stay but he knew that the old man was right. .
The war raged on for several more hours but without Hans to lead or the Duke who killed in the castle the army surrendered. Arendelle spent the next several weeks recovering from the war and it's after effects while Anna spent the same amount of time trying to recover from the blood Ice explosion that Rosalie caused was so powerful that is instantly froze Hans and Johannes and without true love to thaw them they remained frozen forever.
Good things happened after the war .Rosalie went on to inherit the Throne to the southern Isles that Anna and Kristoff decided to handle until she came of Age. They united Arendelle and the Isles to make two very powerful countries. A few years later Anna and Kristoff Added baby Sebastian to their family. Elsa and James when on to have a daughter named Annabelle after Anna and a son names Kai after James's father. And they lived happily ever after
