So I felt inspired for the first time in a long time... Please don't hurt me!
The party had quickly gone from fun and games to chaos and panic. Amanda groaned pointedly as the Doctor vainly tried to calm the passengers. Let's just say… It wasn't working.
"If there's one girl dead then we should arm ourselves and seek these creatures out! Not just sit in here and wait for these things to kill us!" A stout, green man bellowed.
"We don't know what we're up against! And there's no way I'm letting anyone else die. This ship has seen enough death." The room fell silent at the Doctor's words.
"But…"
"What about…"
"There's still the…"
People began to protest, but Amanda knew that she and the Doctor had to get moving. Now. She nodded to the Time Lord and asked, "What now?"
"Now," The Doctor began, "We need to find the stowaways, my human, and a way to fix all…" the Doctor waved helplessly around the room, "…this."
The Catkind sucked in a deep breath, "Alright then. Let's go!"
She and the Doctor turned around and ran to the door. The Doctor swung open the door and let Amanda go through first. Her whiskers bristled in embarrassment. The duo was halfway down the hall and past where the waitress had fallen before the door clanged closed.
Nico sat up slowly on the couch. "How long was I out?" He asked groggily.
"Not long at all, really. Probably just half an hour." Takana stood up and brushed herself off. "How does the bite feel?"
"Fine, just fine," Nico mumbled, rubbing his leg.
Takana harrumphed but didn't argue. It simply wasn't worth the trouble. She was right about to ask what exactly killed the waitress when a seemingly human man and a Catkind woman jogged up to them.
"And who are you?" Takana demanded more than asked.
"I'm Amanda, and this is the Doctor." The Doctor waved.
Nico cocked his brow. "Doctor who?" he questioned.
"Just the Doctor." Takana and Nico clearly weren't buying that, but before they could question him further, the Doctor asked, "And who are you two? Oh, and what happened to your leg?"
"I'm Takana. The stupid boy is Nico. And he fell asleep before explaining the leg."
"I was attacked by giant spiders," Nico summarized.
Takana expected that to be the case, but Amanda definitely didn't and the Doctor was even more shocked than her. He leaned in close to Nico, "What did these spiders look like?"
"Red. Lots of eyes that kept blinking. Maybe they have a medical issue. They said they were princes and crap if that helps any."
The Doctor shuddered. He knew who these creatures were—the Racnoss. The royal children had been trapped at the Earth's core, but after the planet exploded... Could they really have made it out in time? They must have. No other explanation remained.
Amanda placed her hand on the Time Lord's shoulder and squeezed a little. "Is everything alright, Doctor?"
Overwhelmed by the issue at hand, the Doctor spat, "Nothing's alright when innocent people are dying. We need to evacuate the ship. Now. We can make the announcement from the bridge. Let's go." He looked around at the others, all experiencing so many different emotions and all at once—terror, confusion, anger; emotions that had no words to describe them.
Nico felt anguish for his home and lost friends, although unbeknownst to him, not lost at all.
Amanda would never admit her love for the Doctor, but she could hardly contain her feelings for him at that moment. He had met her before, but never had they traveled together. Perhaps this time, Amanda would leave with the Doctor in his TARDIS.
And Takana felt inspired by him and everything he was. She leveled with his anger and his cry for justice. So Takana stood and took several steps down the hall before turning back to her comrades. "Well, aren't you all coming to the bridge?" And she left without seeing whether or not the other three would follow.
