{Kerai's P.O.V}

Winter had finally crept away making room for spring. Though personally, I never wanted winter to end. I thought the world looked better covered in snow, less screwed up. Ever since Levi explained what happened, he hasn't stopped apologizing. I don't see why though, I've forgiven him...mostly. After all that I made sure to never let that bitch come near him. Which reminds me, one she's back on the special operations squad and two we would soon get more new recruits. More children to watch, great. This time all captains were going to go and review the trainee's. In fact, we were on our way right now. It was just after sun down, the path was dimly lit by the metal lanterns and torches. From up ahead I could faintly hear Shadis yelling at the trainee's. I smiled and chuckled, nothing was more funny than listening to him yell. I used to and still think that one day he's just going to explode from yelling too much.

My laughs seemed to have been noticed by a certain raven haired man. I smiled up at him and gently squeezed his hand. He returned the smile and kissed the top of my head while we were walking, receiving a disgusted grunt from Mike and Erwin while Hanji squealed at the sight. Erwin was still trying to understand how I was able to forgive Levi and quite frankly, I was too. Maybe it the fact that he was the only person I could never stay mad at for long, maybe that it was he was constantly apologizing, or the fact that no matter what he would do I would always love him. Either way, I knew I was much happier with him and Erwin knew that too so he didn't object. We finally came up on the trainee's who were patiently waiting.

"Attention!" Shadis yelled as soon as he spotted us.

The soon to be cadets gave the proper salute as we walked by them. We walked down the left side of the 104th trainee squad and up to the stage. Once we reached the podium we stood in order. On the far right was Levi, next to him was Hanji, then Erwin, then me and last but not least Mike. The five of us saluted the trainee's and relaxed into formal stances. My eyes wandered over the trainee's and over to Erwin.

" I am Erwin Smith, commander of the Scout Regiment. Today is the day you must choose a corps to join. I am here today to invite you to join the Scout Regiment. During this last titan attack, you discovered the terror of titans and the limitations of your own abilities. However...in this battle, more than ever before, we made progress towards victory...thanks to the existence of Eren Yeager. His all-out efforts proves beyond any doubt that he is on our side. Furthermore, with his help, we not only stopped the titan invasion, we gained means to understand the true nature of titans!" Erwein took a long pause before continuing. "Located in the basement of his home in Shiganshina district, we believe there is a secret to the titans that he is unaware of. If we can reach that basement we may gain a clue to break free from a century of titan domination! If we know what the titans are, our situation might...We will set out for the basement located in Shiganshina district. But in order to do so, it is imperative that we retake wall Maria. That is to say, our objective remains unchanged." Petra and Mike walked up behind the commander and held up a map. " But now that we are unable to use the gate in Trost district, we must take a roundabout route from Karanes district to the east. The route we spent four years building our army has become completely useless. During those four years, more than 60 percent of the Scout Regiment died. This new group of recruits will join us on our expedition outside the wall in one month from now. The chances are that 30 percent of you will die. Four years from now the majority of you will be dead. But those who overcome that will become superior soldiers with a high survival rate. You know the dismal state of affairs. Those of you who are willing to put your lives on the line, remain here. Ask yourselves: 'Am I willing to give my heart for humankind?' That is all I have to say. Those of you who will be joining another corps are dismissed."

"Commander, don't you think you scared them more than necessary?" One of the other captains asked? "There might not be a single person who'll remain."

One by one the trainee's began to leave. Some hesitated before going off but left none the less. After a few minutes only twenty one of the 104th trainee remained. This was worse than the 99th trainee squad.

"You people... If someone tells you to die, would you do it?" Erwin asked.

"We don't want to die!" They yelled in unison.

"I see..." Erwin got a creepy smile on his face. " I like that look on your faces. Then effective immediately...! I welcome all of you here as new members of the Scout Regiment! This is a real salute. Give your heart!" Erwin placed his right fist over his heart.

The cadets also placed their fists over their hearts followed by all the captains. Some of the remaining cadets were looking a bit shaky but a majority had a look of determination. The look in their eyes was something I had never seen before, it was inspiring. A smile smile crept across my lips as did the others. Erwin looked pleased and relieved.

These cadets had guts, there was no denying that. Eight of the top ten remained, which was a first. They will soon realize what it truly meant to be a soldier. Eyebrows dismissed the brats and the special operations squad headed back to the castle base. We hand left Shit-glasses and Jinn to watch over that shit Jaeger. I was still trying to fully accept the I somehow got stuck with being that brats babysitter. Any other brat I would have been okay with, but I don't trust that titan-shifting bitch. In my opinion if its a titan you kill it no questions asked.

We arrived at the castle two hours before midnight and everyone was exhausted. Just after entering the door, we were greeted by everyone. Most of the shits were stilling cleaning the place which pissed me off. I gave them one fucking job to do and I bet they put it off until I got back.

"Welcome back Captain Levi!" The Jaeger kid saluted and practically yelled.

I sent him a side glare in response which didn't seem to faze him. The kids got too much admiration I thought and sighed. It then hit me that Kerai had no idea who this shit was. I mentally sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Jaeger, this is your other captain." I pointed my thumb over at Kerai.

"Hello, I'm Lance Corporal Kerai Ackerman." She smiled and shook out her hand for him to shake.

The kid hesitantly took it then quickly released it and saluted. "Nice to meet you Corporal. My name is Eren Jaeger."

"Nice to meet you too, Eren." He smiled at her and out of habit I growled at him and received a light smack on the back of my head from my 'loving' wife. "Don't be so mean, Prick." She smirked.

"Tch, only I can smile at you like that." I grumbled.

"You are such a child." She rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry about him, he's got a stick up his ass."

"Do not."

"Ah, it's alright ma'am." He rubbed the back of his head.

Kerai and the shit started talking so I decided to go and inspect the other brats cleaning. A lot of them had left a good layer of dust on half the shit they were supposed to clean. So I told them to redo it before they could sleep. It was closer to midnight now so I decided to find Kerai and head off to bed with her. She was still in the main hall talking to Jaeger. Out of curiousity I hung back in the shadows to listen to their conversation.

The Jaeger kid and I had started talking and Levi wandered off somewhere, probably complaining at how horrible of a job the cadets did of cleaning. I was curious about this boy. He was supposed to be with the 104th tonight but apparently had been allowed to join before the others. I had asked him but he avoided the question several times now.

"Listen Jaeger, I'm your captain. I need to know why you got in so early and why you are so vital to this mission." I was now ordering him to tell me.

"Uh, well you see ma'am it's that...Well I can..." He dropped his eyes to the floor briefly and regained eye contact with me. "I can turn into a titan."

My eyes slightly widened and I blinked a few times before speaking. "You're...a titan shifter?" I asked.

"Yes ma'am." He nodded.

I looked him over for a few minutes still trying to decided whether I believed him or not. It was a rare, almost unheard of, thing to hear or be a titan shifter. Granted I've known they've existed since I was little, hell I am one. The more I thought about the bigger of a smile spread across my face.

"What do you know about your titan self" I inquired.

"Uh, well not much. Captain Hanji is supposed to help me learn more about being a titan shifter." He stared at the ground.

"Hm, well she won't be the only one from now on." I chirped.

"Huh?" He looked at me confused.

"I'll help you understand titan-shifting as well."

"H-how? You're not like her are you?" He asked sheepishly.

"Hell no, no one can even come close to being as crazy as her. But I have the best understanding about titan shifters." His look told me to explain. "You see I am like you, a titan shifter. Though the others don't know about it."

His eyes widened. "W-wouldn't commander Erwin or captain's Hanji or Levi know?"

"Well, Erwin knows. As for the other two, they don't. Levi doesn't need to know and there is no way in hell that I will ever let Hanji know." I smiled. "Tomorrow instead of going to Hanji for testing meet me in front of here and I'll help you train, kay?" Jaeger nodded.

We talked for a few more minutes before I dismissed him to go rest. I started walking towards the stairs when out of no where Levi appeared and pushed me to the wall using his arms to keep me there. He seemed slightly angry and more or less confused. I knew he had overheard the conversation with the cadet which is why I didn't say everything I wanted to say. I placed my hands on Levi's chest and he shivered.

"When in the hell were going to tell me?" He asked in a low almost growl like voice.

"When you needed to know." I answered.

"How in the hell did you think I wouldn't already need to know about this. You're one of those damn creatures that we've been fighting to kill." Levi was mad, who wouldn't be.

"Because it's never been important before."

"Are you fucking stupid? Something as big as you being a titan shifter is something someone should know immediately." He growled.

I dropped my gaze to the floor and knit my eyebrows together. He had a point no doubt but there are things I don't have to tell people if I didn't want to. It's not like I choose for this to be who I was, it was a family thing. Everyone except my brother and father were titan shifters, we just kept quiet about it. I knew if I told him he would be angry so I decided to never tell.

"You hate me now, don't you." I said in a low whisper.

I looked back up at him, his gaze softened as did his stance. He was pondering on how to answer me. His expression became frustrated which I thought was adorable. He was quiet for a few minutes and his left arm dropped from the wall.

"I could never hate you." He finally said. "I just wish you would have told me sooner."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be." He wrapped his arms around my small frame and pulled me into him.

I hugged him back and smiled slightly. Even if that's what he said, he still had a point...I should have told him. It's not like I don't use my abilities to help humanity, I do. But only when it's safe to do, and recently that wasn't possible. He probably lost a whole bunch of trust in me, I know I would...If that's the case, I hope I can earn that trust back. We stood there for a few minutes before heading upstairs. It was definitely not the best idea to stay up till midnight, I knew the both of us were bitchy when we have had little sleep. Oh well, the cadets would just have to be careful.
