{Third Person P.O.V}
No one, not even the commander could have seen this coming. While fighting the abnormals, a female titan appeared and chased the special ops. squad. This new titan killed the entire squad minus Levi, Kerai and Eren. While they escaped with their lives the loss was heavy. To add to this burden, Kerai was knocked unconscious during the fight. Currently the survey corps was heading back to h.q., Levi sat in the cart that carried the dead along with Eren and his companions. Levi had been visibly shaking since they dumped some of the bodies to distract the titans. He gently stroked his wife's hair while another cadet tended to her head wound.
Damn those shits...I'll make them pay...Levi thought as he watched the cadets start to break down one by one.
He remembered back to when Kerai shoved him out of the way of the female titan's attack and got hit herself. The sound of her breaking bones and muffled gag echoed in his head. On the outside he remained hard faced though his concern was very clear. Once the Survey Corps. reached the walls, they were greeted with cheers and praises. None of the members could bring themselves to talk with the pedestrians, instead they rode forwards in silence. As soon as they reached H.Q. the wounded were sent to the medical bay to be treated. The entire place was filled with people moving around skillfully but frantically. The smell of blood and rubbing alcohol filled the air along with agonized screams of pain. The emergency room had the most people inside, including Levi and Erwin. They stood by watching the nurse's tend to the unconscious Kerai.

A few minutes ago the nurse's shooed eyebrows and I outside so they had more room to work. I sat down on the empty chair outside her room and decided to wait. Eventually eyebrows left to do paperwork or some shit but I remained. I kept thinking back to the expedition, things just went from bad to worse. I couldn't stop thinking about that bitch titan, it was clear that it was no actual titan. More likely than not it had to be another titan shifter, but who? I knew it wasn't Kerai because she never left my side, so what other brat is it? The more I thought the angrier I became, if I had been more careful then Kerai wouldn't have gotten hurt...fuck it all. I could still hear her pained cry in my head, clear as day. I balled my hands into fists and looked back at her door. From what it looked like, there was a gash in her head along with a few broken bones.
I lost track of time but soon it was dark and the final nurse walked out from the room. She had a melancholy look on her face and suddenly the worse thought popped into my head, Kerai is... I shook off the thought before it couldn't finish. The nurse looked at me and hesitated to speak.
"Corporal Kerai should be fine..." I sighed in relief. "But..."
My relief was gone, But what?
"But we won't know for sure until she is awake again...or if she wakes up. I'm sorry Captain Levi."
I stood unable to move while I thought this over. I swallowed hard and brought myself to go in and see her. Kerai laid almost like a dead person in that bed, if it wasn't for her quiet breathing I would have thought she was. I walked over and sat on the edge of her bed and took her left hand in mine. Her fingers seemed colder than normal, I covered them completely to try to restore some warmth. Out of habit I was expecting her to turn over or squeeze my hand, but it remained unmoving. I squeezed her hand tight and pressed my lips to hers for a brief moment. I swear if I ever see that titan again, I'll kill it no matter what.

Hours turned to weeks. Weeks faded into months, Kerai showed no signs of waking up. The only bright side to things of late was we captured that bitch titan. The Jaeger brat along with most of the new brat's seemed to have known her. Until we can figure out of to get that shell off of her we can't interrogate the bitch and I can't kick their ass. It's become a habit to go and sit with Kerai and talk to her. In a normal situation, they would have just ended it by now but no one could bring themselves to give up on her.
I was on my way to go and see her when a somewhat familiar face caught my attention. If I recall it was Kerai's sister-in-law, Malaya. She seemed a bit different, I don't remember her eyes being as pale or her hair as red but somethings were similar. She caught me looking towards her and walked up to me.
"Hello Corporal Levi, how are you?" She greeted in her singsong voice.
"Could be worse." I shrugged.
She smiled sadly. "Are you going to visit Kerai?"
"Y-yeah." I paused for a minute. "What brings you here?"
"I came to see her." Malaya spoke softly.
Without another word to her, I motioned for her to follow and headed towards the medical bay. In between missions, things here weren't as chaotic anymore. There were a few cadets inside getting treated for minor stuff and of course there was one who had stabbed himself while learning how to properly hold his blade. Getting closer to Kerai's room I could feel a difference in the atmosphere, it seemed a bit happier. Inside was something I was not expecting, Kerai was sitting up and awake while the nurse's tended to her. I was filled with happiness but at the same time concern. There was a blank, almost scared look in her eyes. We got closer and sitting next to her was eyebrows who was looking a bit down for a change. I carefully watched her reaction to the two of us. She stared at me blankly but when her eyes caught hold of Malaya she seemed relieved.
"Laya? What are you doing here?" Kerai asked softly. "And who is he?"
Malaya looked to me then back to her. "You mean, Levi?"
"Yeah..."
"You're joking right?" It seems as though I'm not the only one who wasn't happy with this turn of events.
"N-no, I have no idea who he is."

I stared at Kerai with utter bewilderment, there is no way she could have forgotten her husband... I looked at Kerai hopping she was just playing around, never once did she look as if she was playing around. The nurse had said she had extensive head trauma, but I never thought it would be this bad with everything considered.
"Would you mind if I spoke with Kerai, alone?" I asked the nurse.
"We still have some tests to perform." She showed me the list of tests they had planned for her.
"I can give these tests to her." I replied taking the list.
"I-I'm sorry but only a registered nurse can-"
"I am a registered nurse." I smiled to her. "Even the Military Police get hurt."
The nurse didn't try to argue and soon left followed by her colleagues. Erwin stood to leave but I motioned for him to stay. Levi stood unmoving, looking at Kerai with this look of disbelief. I carefully lead him to a chair and started with the tests for Kerai. As far as motor functions she was fine, a little tipsy but fine. As I wrote down a few notes the thought came to mind. People who have rough childhoods or traumatic experiences are more susceptible to memory loss. It's very possible that Kerai's mind locked out every memory of anything that has caused her pain.
"Kerai I'm going to ask you a few questions, okay?"
"A-alright." She nodded her head.
I smiled at her in a reassuring way and she smiled back. I sat down next to her and took her hand in mine.
"Do you know who I am?" I asked.
"Of course, you are Malaya Seiki-Yana." She responded.
"Who is he?" I asked and pointed to Erwin.
She looked at him carefully. "E-Erwin Smith, Kanako's boyfriend." Well that's kinda correct.
"Very good...What do you do?"
Again she paused as she thought. "I-I'm in the Survey Corps., right?"
"Yes, what rank do you hold?"
"Captain?" She asked, in a way.
"Sort of, you're a lance corporal. Just like Kana was."
She stared at me blankly. "Was? Did she quite?"
Uh oh.
"She doesn't remember." Erwin commented.
"Don't remember what? Has something happened to Kana-san?" A sudden wave of fear came to her eyes.
"I'll explain later, Kerai." I turned to the two men. "Erwin, Levi, can you two step out for a moment?"
Erwin nodded and stood up. Levi was still frozen, his eyes locked on Kerai. Erwin walked up behind him, helped him stand, then took him outside into the hall. I closed the door and walked back to Kerai and took her hand in mine. There's no easy way to say this but I can't leave her ignorant.
"Kerai, what I am about to tell you is hard to hear and I won't blame you if you deny it...Kerai, Kanako died 14 years ago. Kohaku died about a year ago and so did Nickolite."
Her eyes became wide, it was obvious she didn't want to believe what she was hearing. "...no...they, they couldn't have..."
"You don't remember because on your last expedition, you sustained severe head trauma. That trauma was enough to block out things you didn't want to remember." I try to continue to explain things to her.

{Levi's P.O.V}
For a while now, eyebrows and I have been sitting in the hall. How can she not remember me? After everything...is it really gone? This was the first time in a while that I've felt helpless. On the outside I tried to remain expressionless, though on the inside I was on the verge of freaking out.
"Gahhhh!" A loud shriek sounded in the once quiet halls.
My attention was drawn to Kerai's room as several nurses, including shit-glasses, went inside. Without a second thought, I followed them in but it was next to impossible to get close to Kerai. Everyone was surrounding her, though I could see her pained face as she held her head in her hands. Knowing that I couldn't get close to help her, her pain hurt me. Among all the people trying to help her, Malaya moved towards me with a grim expression. She headed to the hall and I followed behind her, when she stopped I stopped a few feet behind her.
"What the fuck happened in there?" I ask.
"I tried telling her what happened...It's no use in telling her what has happened to her over the past few years."
My eyes narrow at her. "What exactly are you saying?"
"I'm saying that Kerai has to remember on her own and there's nothing we can do to help her." She replied in a snap, the her voice became quiet. "There's a big chance she'll never remember."
