Chapter Five
The Day Of The Wolf
Carlilliam Edwarlie Cullen-Black
"Six O'clock then, yeah?" Kate spoke coolly down the phone to her new boyfriend. When I thought about any of my family being in relationships it brought out a protective side of me, but with my sister and Kate it was different. The thought of someone being with Rennie made me feel tense because I didn't want her to be used, but the thought of Kate being with another person made me feel physically sick with revulsion and anger.
"Ok then." Her voice was unemotional as she spoke down the phone, right in front of me in the living room as I watched TV with Edd. She was over here with Rennie discussing what her first date was going to be like. "Bye, Captain." She said with a slight teasing tone in her voice, and then she pulled the receiver away from her cheek and her eyes darted straight to Rennie.
"What is it?" Rennie raised her eyebrow and then smirked.
"I'm nervous." Kate looked shocked at herself as the words came out, "I'm fucking NERVOUS!" She exclaimed fearfully, her eyes bulging in disgust at the emotion.
"Well maybe if you weren't such an emotionless cow you'd be fine." I snarled, turning the TV down to glare at Kate. The thought of her going out on the date made me angry, she shouldn't be going out on a date with a man who had almost ten years on her!
"I'm clearly not emotionless you fucktard or I wouldn't be nervous! And who asked you anyway?!" She countered, her eyes narrowed to dangerous slits. I could have sworn she was eyeing my throat up, thinking of all the ways she could rip it out.
"Well if you don't want my opinion don't be so blatantly obvious." I growled and then I threw the remote down on the leather couch and stormed out of the living room.
"Woah, dude. What was that about?" Edd asked as he followed me.
"I have no idea!" I yelled angrily at Edd who seemed a little taken back that I was still yelling.
"You don't have to yell. You and Kate usually fight like an old married couple but-"
"WE ARE NOT MARRIED!" I screamed, suddenly I felt tears forming in my bulging eyes, shit. What was wrong with me?! I couldn't put my finger on it, but the thought of being married to Kate of all people angered me beyond belief, I hated her. I hated her!
Then again, the thought of her with another also provoked an emotional response, anger and fury. Definitely fury. But as I thought, I realised that maybe denial and anger were similar emotions, was I just in denial about Kate?
"Dude, I didn't say you were married to her. I said you fight like you are. Just chill out, okay?" Edd said to me, he looked a little worried about me now like I was about to go mad.
"I- I… I need to get out of here." I whispered, tears suddenly sprouting from my eyes, I felt like I wanted to cry now. What was I? A girl on my period or something?! Ughh!
"Why, what's wrong?" Edd looked confused, "Is this about Kate or something else?"
"I don't know! I'm just angry, okay?!" I growled, and suddenly I felt my skin beginning to twitch, my anger levels were at tipping point and I could feel my muscles quivering with anger.
"Liam? Liam, what's happening to you?!" Edd said, backing away from me slightly, "You're acting like a mad shapeshifter!"
And as he said the words shapeshifter my body seemed to respond to me immediately, I exploded in a mass of fur and my eyes fell on Edd who looked as though he was going to crap his pants.
Who's just phased? I heard a voice, it sounded so familiar that I tried to follow the link I could feel.
Dad? Is that you? I asked sceptically, not knowing how this whole wolf thing worked. I felt terrified as I stood on my huge paws and lanky legs, quivering and sweating.
LIAM?! My father exclaimed in his head, You've phased?!
I'm not a shapeshifter though! How the hell could I shape shift?! I exclaimed with fear to my father in his thoughts as I ran outside to try and find my father in blinding panic.
Been a Orb Child I shouldn't have been able to turn into a wolf, but then again, Leah Clearwater wasn't supposed to phase as she was a female, maybe there were exceptions to the rule...
Stay calm Liam. Panicking will only make things worse. I should have seen this with your accelerated growth rate and the fact that you were starting to burn up warmer than usual. My dad thought to me to calm me down.
Dad, I'm scared. This isn't supposed to happen to me. Does this make me some kind of freak? I asked dad as I whimpered and examined myself in a clear puddle. I was a large wolf, almost as large as my dad height wise, I was a little thinner though. I was also an unusual yet beautiful colour, I was really dark grey with a tint of blue in my fur and the fur lightened to a pale grey around my feet and nose.
We'll ask Lilith about this, I'm sure she will have answers. Dad said to his son.
This is genetically impossible though! Orb Children are supposed to be different to every other species! We shouldn't be able to turn into wolves! I said, geeking out a little.
Son, maybe the shapeshifter gene is stronger than the orb child gene and you got she shapeshifter gene as well, or maybe it's a… uhh…My Dad thought of the word he was looking for, he could see the word on the tip of his tongue.
A genetic mutation? I asked with disgust.
Yes. Dad confirmed and chuckled a wolfy laugh.
So I'm a freak. I grumbled in his mind at myself, just then My ran up to me and jumped on my back, knocking me head first into the large puddle I had been checking my reflection out in.
Dad! I yelled at him, clearly not impressed with his antics.
Izeya Esmerelda Cullen-Racluse
I sniffed he air, looking through the deep undergrowth for him scent, a hair, anything that could lead me to my cloaked man, to Joseph. I couldn't find him anywhere though, he only turned up when he felt like it, but after days of not seeing him my body yearned for him.
I had never felt this need to be so close to somebody, I enjoyed my own company but this man intrigued me and frustrated me at the same time.
"Joseph!" I called out, trying to find him, I called out his name once and yet the mountainous terrain seemed to make the call echo and spread out for miles. There was no doubt in my mind that he had heard me and that he would answer my call.
I looked at the snow sodden ground and then sighed, dropping to my knees I sniffed the cool ground, the smell of a hiker came over me, sweet and intense. Suddenly my eyes bulged as the desire for me to tear his throat out ran over me. What do you think you're doing?! I asked myself, but I felt my body fall into a hunting crouch as the smell spread over me again.
Singer. I thought the word and in the deepest part of my soul I knew it was true, whoever was out there was my singer, blood and flesh had never called to me like this, and now I was scared I wouldn't be able to control myself.
"Izeya!" I heard the sudden voice that broke my concentration for a second, I turned my head to see a black cloak running towards me, he rammed into me at high speed, throwing me onto the floor and pinning me there.
I snarled. Wait, this is Joseph! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! I demanded in my mind. I had no idea what was coming over me. I sniffed again, smelling the exotic scent of my singer.
"Izeya, you don't want the blood. You don't need the blood. Remember? You're a Cullen. You don't even kill animals!" Joseph whispered frantically, "Don't do this, this isn't who you are." He whispered again.
I hissed at him, my mind screaming at me not to, but my body was completely focused on the hunt. Suddenly Joseph growled back at me, his dangerous teeth bared viciously as he pinned me down, completely vulnerable to him.
"Get off me!" I yelled at him, my full attention now on him and not the hiker I could smell only a few hundred feet away from me.
"Izeya, listen. You have never killed an innocent. You don't want that kind of blood on your hands. I can sense that this guy is your singer, but you have to rise above it, you can control this Izeya." I sniffed again, letting the smell circle in my nose, trying to get used to the smell. I was still pinned under Joseph, and at that moment as I looked into his eyes, the world fell away.
I could no longer smell the hiker, I could only smell Joseph's wild scent, hear his soft thudding heartbeat, feel his hands on my bare shoulders and taste his warm breath that was coming from his partially open mouth.
"I'm in control." I spoke breathlessly, the whole world still seemed to be rotating around one point, even with my assurance, he didn't move and his intense stare did not faulter.
"Izeya…" He whispered, and then his grip loosened slightly as he wrapped his arms around my back, pulling me into a slight seated position, pressed closely against his body.
He looked at my lips then, glancing from my lips to my eyes in only the way seen in movies. I blinked wondrously, this wasn't like the other kissed. This was much more, this wasn't Joseph the cloaked man right her, this was just Joseph.
How did it happen that our lips came together so suddenly? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said.
I gulped part way through the kiss, nervous about how this was going to end. I had already said I was going to choose who I wanted to be with, that I would chose who my king was, but was he staring me right in my face? Was my king not the amazing, kind hero type person I had imagined, but this dark, mysterious and potentially dangerous man who seemed to spark a fire within my soul and turn that spark into an inferno with one kiss?
I pressed my hands lightly onto his chest, pushing his slightly. As if he had read my mind Joseph pulled away, looking into my eyes still, intensity gone, there was only that same longing and loving look I had seen before in his eyes.
"What is it, Toruk?" He asked me, I looked into his eyes and then pulled away from their violet gaze.
"Toruk?" I asked sceptically.
"It means last shadow, you will be the last shadow on the supernaturals, after you become queen there will be light for us and you will lead us into a glorious new future." Joseph half smiled as though he wanted this to be true, but somehow he looked sceptical.
"How do you know all of this?" I asked him, remembering that he was connected to the angels somehow.
"The Bluebloods, it has been prophesized for many millennia." Joseph reached out and stroked my face, caressing the soft skin of my cheek bone and down to my jaw.
"How do you know the bluebloods?" I asked again, genuinely curious about his past and his connection to the bluebloods.
"I… well…" He trailed off and then sighed a little, his hand moving from my cheek down to my hand, wrapping his cool fingers around mine, "You see, when I was born there was a war going on between werewolves and vampires. My father was a vampire… my mother was a werewolf. My father was a lot more powerful than my mother being a witchblood vampire, he over powered her and raped her. I was the result. When I was born my mother hated me, she shunned me and soon after I decided to run away."
"I'm sorry… I didn't know." I felt pained just hearing this story, let alone living it. To be the child of a rape… to be the result of hate.. it must have being soul destroying.
"Lase took me in, she was my mother for all intents and purposes after that. Lase saw something within me that nobody else ever saw, she saw my soul. Because I was raised as a blueblood I was on my way to becoming one at eighteen. You see, you're either born a blueblood or you can be chosen to become for your deeds to the earth if they are great enough. Me… I hadn't done anything, but because I was adopted as a blueblood I was allowed to go through with the ceremony, but the thought of having to guard the earth, guard humanity and always do good… it sounded exhausting. I decided that I didn't want to get my wings, so I ran again." Joseph chuckled a little now.
"You ran again? But… why? I thought Lase loved you. Wouldn't she just want you to be happy?" I asked him, a little shocked that the woman he spoke so highly of would force him to do something he didn't want to do.
"I thought she would force me to go through with the ceremony, but she found me and so did a few other bluebloods. They told me no matter what I chose I would always be one of them, and that I could always come back to them." Joseph smiled, "I decided to leave them and go my own way with their blessing."
"So they accepted your decision, that's great." I half smiled and then I saw the dark look coming into his eyes as he opened his mouth again.
"A few hundred years later the witches caught up with me, they found out about my extra ordinary powers and my extra ordinary heritage. Never before had a half vampire, half werewolf baby been born. They caught me and experimented on me, they found out that my blood… our blood… could turn a person into an immortal if they were human, but they would only be immortal. Our blood could also cure vampirism or being a werewolf and turn the creature into an immortal human." Joseph looked away looking rather angry now. "They killed me in the end."
"But… how? You're here!" I exclaimed, then I felt a cough catch in my throat as I realised something, "You're a shade."
"Yes, I am. I was brought back like your mother only rather than coming back and being conjured back into the world like your Necromancer fiend Mary did, the other Necromancer brought me back through placing my soul into another's body and letting my spirit take over that body and morph it into my own body." He looked down at his own body, "Your mother's was a much less painful experience. I had to kill the body I was in to take it over to conjure my body back, the problem with my resurrection was that I had nobody who had memories of me, so I had to create my own body back, other's couldn't do it for me like they did with your mother."
"So basically you're a shade.. like my mom." I felt my eyes bulge slightly at the thought that Joseph was once dead, I couldn't bear the thought that he was dead.
"Yes, I am a shade. And yes, that does make me more powerful than most and potentially dangerous. Does that frighten you?" He asked, his eyes sparkling with humour.
"No." I answered with a quick smirk.
"Why?" He asked, his smile faltering slightly.
"Because I could still kick your ass with my eyes closed." I grinned and then I pushed my lips back onto his, letting him deepen the kiss as he wrapped his arms around my waist and tangled his fingers in my hair.
Nefertiti Cleopatra Cullen-Racluse
"Abby, don't be a fool. Dad's already ready to beat you black and blue." I warned my sister as she hovered on the pane of her window. She was under house arrest, my father was on the other side of the house in the gardens with my mom.
"What else can he do? He's put me under house arrest. He's been an asshole, all I was trying to do was comfort our cousin and take her out for a day. Like I said to Chloe, mom wouldn't be mad. You and the others can do whatever you like; but I get to do nothing!" Abby exclaimed in frustration, "Maybe I should just go and never come back!"
"Don't be an idiot. If you want to go, I'm not stopping you. The window's right there, but don't run away. Mom and dad love you, dads just protective because three of his children he thought we dead and two he never even knew about. Have some pity on him and try to understand his protectiveness." I reasoned with her.
"I have Tee, I've tried so hard! I've tried being the good little girl, I've tried being the sweet teenager he needs me to be, but I can't be that anymore! I can't wait. I can't just wait like he did! I need to go out and grasp adventure." She cried, tears genuinely forming in her eyes as she stared out of the window.
"Then go. Like I already said, I'm not stopping you from going, go. Right now." I pointed out of the window, "Just promise you'll be back before dark."
"That's what you don't get-"
"No. I get it. I really do, you want nothing more than freedom and adventure, to not be tied down by family, you don't want to care sometimes, but you do. You care way too much, Abby. Just promise me that you will think about this and tell dad how you feel. Tell mom and dad how you feel." I explained to her, she needed to tell our dad and our mom how she felt, this was eating her up. She wasn't a baby anymore and yet that's all my dad treat her like.
"I'll be back." She whispered, and then she threw herself out of the window. A short millisecond later I heart the small thud of her feet land on the ground outside the third story window. The ground was dry and hard due to the dry, cold weather we had been having.
"Bye." I smiled and spoke to the empty air, letting my baby sister go. It was nice having a little sister, I was technically the eldest, but all of my other siblings had matured much faster than me and some were almost fully grown when I first met them, so when Abby was born I rejoiced that I would not be the youngest anymore and that I would get away with more.
I did get away with more, a lot more that I bargained for. They loved us all the same, but Abby was the baby of the family so both of my parents were super protective, and there was the matter of her difficult birth where she had stopped breathing and had almost died.
IM A BARBIE GIRL, IN A BARBIE WORLD, LIFE- I quickly fumbled in my pocket for my phone, my ring tone for Embry was going off. Of course, he had chosen the dumbest song to set himself as on my phone. I grinned as I pressed the 'receive call' button.
"Hey Embry." I grinned waiting to hear his voice down the phone.
"Is this Nefer… Nefer…" A woman's voice spoke down the phone.
"Umm… yes?" I asked sceptically, not sure who she was, "Call me Tee." I said almost reflexively.
"Tee. This is Embry's mom. You haven't seen him have you? He said he was going to come over here later, and I know you're his friend?" Tiffany asked, she seemed to stutter over the word 'friend.' I gulped slightly.
"No, I'm sorry Mrs. Call. I thought this was him calling now. Why do you have his phone?" I asked her, a little worried now that I didn't know where Embry was.
"He left it here, honey. He talks about you all of the time so I presumed that he might have been with you." She said, her voice sounded chirpy, "I think he might be in love with you." She semi-whispered.
"What? Eww. No. Embry's my best friend. He isn't in love with me." I cringed, I knew what the imprint meant, and I knew that it was likely that he was in love with me, and after a few years of me technically being mature, it was likely that he wanted me in a sexual way too.
"Well all I's saying dear is don't put him out yet." She seemed to smile, basically telling me to not count Embry out of the running for my boyfriend.
"I won't Mrs. Call." I chuckled, "I'll try and find out where he is and I'll call you back." I was still cringing slightly at the thought of Embry's mom telling me to basically get with Embry.
"Ok, dear. Bye!" She spoke chirpily again and then the receiver went off.
"Ughh. Embry and me." I muttered to myself, shaking my head. It wasn't like I felt nothing towards Embry, of course I could see how hot he was and how much his personality drew me, I loved his eyes and his smile and the way he would stroke my hand when he grabbed it, but I wasn't ready for anything like a relationship yet.
Third Person
Kate waved goodbye to Sarenee as she crawled into the car, tottering in her way-too-high heels as she prepared to go on her date with Aaron.
"Rennie, do you want to do something?" Renesmee asked her daughter with a smile, looking to her other daughter in her arms.
"Does it involve babysitting again?" Rennie frowned heavily and stuck out her bottom lip as she didn't want to baby sit her annoying little sister. As much as she loved Allie, she would also liked to have thrown her out of a 50 story building sometimes.
"Don't be silly. I was wondering if you'd want to do some baking?" Renesmee smiled at her daughter and placed Ali on the floor, "come on, it will be just us girls!" Renesmee exclaimed with a laugh.
"Just us girls." Rennie rolled her eyes, but the thought of spending some famiy time with her mom and her sister was almost too much to say no to. "Fine, I'll do your dorky baking."
Renesmee grabbed a bowl and handed it to Rennie, giving Ali a large wooden spoon she began to get the rest of the cooking instruments and ingredients out of the cupboards and the fridge.
"Don't you think it's strange that Liam has turned into a wolf… I mean, we're supposed to be orb children after all." Sarenee suddenly asked her mom.
"We'll get to the bottom of this, Rennie. I think it may be normal, I mean, all of the Quileutes descended from Tahaki himself have the wolf gene, maybe because of that it doesn't matter if he is an orb child because he still got the wolf gene, sort of like you, you're technically a dhampire but you also have the orb child gene making you have the powers of an orb child." Renesmee tried to make sense of the problem her son had. They had never expected Liam to ever be able to turn, but now it seemed he could.
"You know what I find weird about this family?" Rennie smiled as she poured flour onto the scales and measured out the right amount before tipping it into a bowl and chuckling as the dust tickled her nose giving her the sudden need to sneeze.
"What?" Renesmee asked as she placed a tray on the counter and began to place muffin cases into the hollowed out holes.
"That were all different species. I mean, we're orb children me and Liam, or I am. I don't know what Liam is now. You're a dhampire, dad's a shapeshifter, our grandparents are humans and vampires, our cousins and aunts and uncles are vampires, werewolves, lycanthropes, shades, dhampires, witchbloods… ughh. It's just so confusing." Rennie chuckled a little.
"How are your cousins?" Renesmee asked her daughter with a smile on her face at the thought of her brother and sisters children.
"They're good. Kate's going on her first date with this guy in the army today." Sarenee told her mom as Ali bashed her spoon against the cupboards trying to make music.
"Kate has a boyfriend? How old is he?" Renesmee asked raising an eyebrow, it was no secret that Kate liked older men, she had been caught a few times flirting with her teachers and other older men.
"He's about twenty six I think. I don't know, she didn't really mention that, but from what she told me he seems hot." Rennie chuckled and then stirred the muffin mixture, getting a little on her shirt as she stirred the mixture pretty fast.
"Twenty six?" Renesmee shook her head, "I just hope he doesn't hurt her."
"Me too, but you know Kate. She'll probably hurt him." Rennie rolled her eyes, "She is a heart breaker after all. We need sugar."
"Yeah, she is, I guess. I just don't want my niece getting hurt, that's all." Renesmee shrugged and carried on weighing the ingredients to make the cakes.
Abigail Alexandra Cullen-Racluse
"Run!" I heard the scream come from the forest as I looked around the unusual hunting grounds I had found. I couldn't see anybody yet, but I could smell the salty scent of sweat soaked skin and hear the cried of somebody.
"RUN!" I heard again, this time louder. I felt my body instantly move towards the scream, and as soon as I began running, I wished I hadn't. As I looked towards the group of people, I saw five giant lions ready to attack them.
The group were not even vampires or werewolves and yet these shapeshifters seemed to feel the need to protect their territory against them.
One of the shapeshifters leapt onto the physically larger man, he was around 6'11" with tanned skin, black hair to his chin and a slight bearded chin, dressed in leather clothing I recognised as something my father would usually wear, I gathered this man was some kind of warrior.
There was another man, his hair was cropped shorter, his tanned skin was clean shaven and he was more striking in appearance than the other man due to his blue eyes, he was also tall, but at around 6'9" he was a lot shorter than his brother.
The last person was a girl, she had the same blue eyes as the striking man and dark blonde hair that went to her back in a perfect straight way that reminded me of a waterfall.
Suddenly I felt the need to go and help these people, and then I heard a rustling at my side. I turned to face the thing head on, but out of the bracken ran… Chloe.
"Abby! What do you think you're-" And then she saw the lions, and so obviously the Alpha lion attacking the group of people.
"We need to help them!" I screamed at her, and she nodded and we both rushed towards the small group of people.
One of the lions leaped on me, but with a swift kick and a punch to its jaw is backed away, Chloe approached the alpha quickly, heading for their weakness and possibly her weakness too.
"Stop this! These people might be innocent!" She yelled at the Alpha, and within a nano second the assault on the passers-by stopped.
I opened my mouth to offer something, but I couldn't speak as I looked at Chloe stand up to the alpha of the lions. The lion growled under his breath but then the others began to back away.
Why have you come back? I thought I told you to leave with this girl and not come back! He scolded in my mind.
"Yeah, well. She's back, and you can't go around hurting innocent people, and it's a good job she is back because if you hadn't imprinted on her, she'd be ripped to shreds with me and these others!" I yelled at him, not caring that he was mad at me.
Tell her to wait here, I'm going to get dressed and then we're going to talk about this. He said, narrowing his eyes at Chloe, but I knew that he would never hurt her.
"He's going to get some clothes on and then he wants to talk to you." I motioned towards the huge lion, and then Chloe took a step forward, following him even though he had told me to make her wait. Oh well, I thought¸ he won't hurt her.
"so, I'm Abby, what's your name?" I asked the man who was looking at me rather strangely. I had just saved his life, so I thought the least he could do would be to tell me his name.
He didn't speak, he just kept looking at me in this strange way like he was seeing the sun for the first time, not like he was imprinting though. Just like he was curious.
"What is your name." I said again, this time is wasn't really a question, it was more of a demand. I heard my voice turn a little colder, showing the side of me I had inherited from my father's side.
"I am Connor Amador. This is my sister Cassy Amador and my cousin, Axel Amador." The tallest man said, I brought my eyes up to him, looking at his for the first time properly, what I said before I took back completely. His cousins eyes may have been more striking, but up close this man was an Adonis. The leather left most of his upper body bare, his muscles were huge, he had a broad chest and arms twice as thick as my thighs. His chin was strong, his nose tall and straight and his eyes were so dark they were almost black. Definitely striking.
"C.. Connor?" I asked and then I smirked a little.
"Why is that amusing to you?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at me.
"Come on, Con. Don't be like that, not everyone is intimidated by you. Some just want to laugh at your stupid face." Axel grinned at his cousin and then held out his hand towards me. "Axel, pleased to meet you."
"Abby," I smiled back, shaking his hand. I noticed his hand was quite warm and soft, nothing indicated he was anything more than a regular human.
"Well maybe she should be intimidated. We are hunters after all." Connor narrowed his eyes at me and scanned me again, "She is clearly not human."
"Of course she isn't, she's too beautiful to be a human." Axel winked at me. Was he flirting with me?
"Ughh. She's obviously some sort of supernatural. But she is obviously not an evil one, Connor." Cassy half smiled towards me and then she looked to her brother.
"It doesn't matter. She could still be dangerous." He said slightly growling at his sister.
"Umm she is still here." I groaned, and then I pursed my slightly, annoyed at this Connor guy. "What's a hunter anyway?"
"A hunter is a human that is given powers by god to get rid of demons from the world." Cassy recited, almost boredly.
"No, a hunter a kid that is born a human and if their parents are hunters they have special powers and are a lot stronger and faster than regular humans." Axel grinned again, I was starting to notice that he was pretty boyish but definitely adorable.
"Why tell her? What if she is the enemy?" Connor gruffed.
"Cool it, Con. She's just a kid." Axel rolled his eyes and smirked at me.
"Fine. A hunter is basically someone who hunts evil, and that is usually in the form of a supernatural creature who kills humans. Get the picture? You're a vampire. You're evil." Connor narrowed his eyes, his nostrils flaring slightly as he smelled me.
"Vampire? Look at her eyes." Axel looked confused.
"I'm half vampire, half werewolf. My parents are both witchblood children." I explained to them, trying to tell them more about myself, "And I don't drink or eat humans. I don't even kill animals, I just drink their blood." I shot back to Connor who still looked weary of me.
"You mean the Stigram Sanguis Fillis?!" Cassy suddenly looked excited, "But the hunters were told that they were wiped out hundreds of years ago!"
"Well apparently not." I rolled my eyes at her, to me this stuff was normal.
"Wait, you're a SSF?" Axel looked surprised, but I didn't like the way he abbreviated my species name, he made it sound like a silly slang word.
"Yes, I am. Sort of. I'm the child of two, so I guess I am." I shrugged and then looked back to Connor.
"And you're a Lupus Lamia hybrid." He sounded gob smacked.
"Uh huh." I agreed with a grin, "My family is a mixture of all kinds of creatures, and all of us sustain ourselves of animals rather than humans."
"You're from the yellow eyed clan?" Axel asked suddenly.
"Of course! The Cullen Coven!" Cassy exclaimed, like she had been trying to work it out and everything had suddenly clicked into place.
"She is not a member of the legendary Cullen Coven." Connor said, chuckling a bucket of water over the theoretical flames.
"My name is Abigail Alexandra Cullen-Racluse." I narrowed my eyes.
"Cullen and Racluse?" Cassy looked completely surprised.
"But they're the two most powerful families in the most powerful species!" Axel exclaimed.
"I don't believe it. We had no word of the Racluses and Cullens being allies, let alone having a daughter." Connor narrowed his eyes dangerously to slits.
"Because we're not exactly going to plaster it about that the two most powerful covens or packs or whatever are growing, are we?" I rolled my eyes unbelievably again, this man was frustrating.
"I believe her. She seems genuine. Could you show us your coven?" Cassy asked me, she was only around twelve. I nodded.
"You can't go with her. She might be the enemy!" Connor exclaimed again. "After our parents died and the hunters council was shut down I promised I would never put you in a situation of danger. This is me keeping that promise."
"Then you come too. I'm sure my parents and grandparents would love to learn about your species. Especially my Great-Granddad Carlisle." I explained, I said the words casually and then I realised I had slipped up a little.
"Your great grandfather?" Conner exclaimed, "Just exactly how many generations are there of the Cullen family?!"
"Only four so far, and three on the Racluse side." I shrugged again and then smiled at Axel who seemingly couldn't take his eyes off me. It made me feel slightly uncomfortable, but also exhilarated at the thought somebody might be attracted to me.
"Well I would like to see this conclusive proof. The Hunters have known about the most powerful packs, covens and enclaves for thousands of years, to meet two of them would be amazing." Axel smirked and I saw Connor give him a slight narrow eyed look.
"I will decide whether we meet vampires and werewolves or not." He demanded.
"Connor, you aren't the boss of us. Just because you're the oldest doesn't mean you have the right to tell us what we can and can't do." Cassy rolled her eyes and then walked over closer to Axel as if to agree with him more.
"Look, Connor, I promise my family are harmless and they wouldn't hurt you. I could quite easily attack you now but I'm not. Chloe just saved your asses from those scary assed lions because one of them imprinted on her." I tried to explain, "she saved your asses and I tried to help as well, why would I do that if I wasn't genuine?"
"To deceive us and set a trap for us." Connor narrowed his eyes.
"Pfft, like I'd even think of that." I rolled my eyes and then sniffed in Chloe's general direction, "she won't be back for a while I guess, she's with her imprint or whatever, so I guess I could take you to them now or we could wait here and wait for Chloe."
"I think we should wait for the half human girl." Connor said, "she can probably be more trustworthy than a hybrid of two of our largest enemies.
"Connor, stop being an ass. She's a perfectly nice girl. She's trying to be polite but I can tell you, girls like her would probably punch you in the face." Cassy groaned at her brother, trying to make him stop been nasty to me.
"You're right, I do want to punch him in the face, but seen as you sort of remind me of my dad, I bet you're a badass fighter and I'd probably get my own ass handed to me." I laughed slightly, it was true, I was slightly intimidated by this guy's presence and in a fair fight he would probably win.
"I really doubt that. I bet you're stronger than you're making out." Axel smiled knowingly, I turned to him and half smiled, maybe I was, maybe I wasn't. "I think you could handle a fight without Connor any day of the week."
"Even Mondays?" I asked stupidly as a joke.
"Even Mondays." He replied with a chuckle. "and I bet that you want to test yourself against him… right now?"
"Excuse me?" Connor turned to his cousin. "I am not fighting a girl."
"Wow, you're sexist as well as an asshole." I blurted out, barely thinking about the words.
"Excuse me?" Connor's eyebrows shot up onto his forehead in surprise.
"You heard me, you're sexist and you're an ass. I bet I could kick your ass and that you're not really much of a fighter." I challenged him.
Connor stepped forward his steely gaze piercing my soul as he spoke, "If you hope to beat me in a fight you must learn to put your opponent to the ground fluidly," with that he stepped quickly into my circle placing his left arm deftly under my right thrusting his hip into my abdomen and effortlessly hurling me to the floor with a tremendous THUD. As I laid in complete shock he looked down at me with a bemused expression dancing across his face. "That is appropriately called a Hip Throw"
I snarled and then rolled back onto my feet easily, he hadn't pinned me, just thrown me, so the fight wasn't over yet. "Oh yeah?!" I yelled, and then I ran at him, flipping over his body so I was standing behind him, he quickly turned to face me, but as he did I grabbed his arm, using the momentum in his turn to throw him over my body and about 10 meters into the forest, crashing into a tree.
Axel and Cassy began to laugh hysterically, and Connor stood up brushing his chest and hair to make it smoother and to get the dirt off it.
"so you're strong, I get that." He narrowed his eyes, but now he had a certain look in his eye, it wasn't the anger I expected, it was amusement.
"Yeah, well you don't even know what tricks I have up my sleeve." I smirked at him, thinking about the way I could teleport short distances and turn invisible.
He charged towards me again, his eyes never leaving mine for a second, and as he drew closer I focused on the thought that I wanted to appear behind him. His arms spread as if he was going to grab me, but they landed around empty air. I appeared moments later stood behind him, the shocked gasps of Axel and Cassy making me chuckle. "Didn't expect that, huh?"
He turned around and looked down at me, and then he reached out towards me.
Connor Amador
I reached out fast, pulling her towards me and then I crushed my lips to hers, hell we were ready to cut each other's throat out five minute ago. As I leaned in to meet her lips I pull her towards me even more. I couldn't help but feel the heat from her breath as I kissed her. It was amazing, better than anything I've ever felt before.
As her arms wrapped around my neck. I ignore it, all I could think about was how our bodies bumped together as we picked up the pace. As one move my hands down her back I feel her take a deep breath. I thought she would stop, but she didn't. i felt her lips against mine as we grew more intense, I could hear her begin to breath heavily. I pushed her to a tree and as her back hit the cold trunk she pushed her body even tighter than I thought possible. My tongue made its way into her mouth and fought her own. She won.
The way her tongue moved with her lips in perfect sync made my heart race. She bit my lip then, I had not thought of her to be like this but she actually bit my lip. I sensed her smile as she pulled back from me, still holding her I could feel her body, as hot and sweaty as mine.
"didn't expect that, huh?" I asked rather cockily. She blinked a few times in shock and then her hand reached up to her bruised lips.
Then all of a sudden she raised her hand and slapped me around the face, the crack thud seemed to rattle off the trees and the stinging pain his me seconds later. "How dare you!"
"You kissed me back." I rubbed my cheek, unimpressed that she had slapped me.
"Don't ever kiss me again." She growled, warning me to stay away from her.
"I wasn't planning on it." I watched her walk over to my sister and cousin, Axel gave me a look that was angry and unimpressed at my antics. The problem was I had actually enjoyed the kiss, I hadn't expected to, but she was the first female who hadn't pushed me away and then been too dazed to fight, she accepted the kiss and left me in enough of a daze that I couldn't even block her from giving me a smack.
I liked the way she looked at me, passion, anger, fire all rolled into one. Her eyes glaring at me, and yet she had kissed me back.
"When your cousin gets back, I want to see your family." I said to her. She narrowed her eyes and then sighed at me.
"No. We're going to wait for Chloe now." She explained, but I could see she was doing this to piss me off and be bitchy.
"fine." I gruffed, I couldn't be bothered challenging her again, it was quite obvious she would be able to hold her own against me, and I didn't want to have to actually hurt her.
Chloe Renesmee Cullen
"So, Chief, What's your name?" I asked the large man who now stood in front of me at a small table, his eyes fixed intently on me.
"My name is Cheveyo Hunter." He answered, his eyes fixed on me, unblinking. It was almost nerve-racking the way his eyes seemed to see every flaw I possessed, and it was every flaw that he seemed to radiate hate towards.
"So... you're the tribe leader..." I tried to make conversation, trying to make this thing less complicated and a lot less awkward as he carried on staring at me, not quite glaring, but close enough to glaring that he was making me uncomfortable.
"Yes. And I connected with a vampire." He slightly spat the word, like he was disgusted at the fact that I was one of his greatest enemies, I suddenly felt rage pulse through me.
"You know what, fuck you. Fuck all of you. You imprinted on me! I didn't want this to happen! I would have been perfectly content with finding my own soulmate! You did this yourself! You and you're stupid pussy cat gene!" I yelled at him standing up out of the chair I was in, standing over him, my hands in tight fists, when his face changed.
Rather than looking angry, his face seemed to look a little confused, and then a small smile spread across his face, "Pussy cat gene?" he snorted slightly and then chuckled to himself, "I guess you're right."
"What?" I asked sceptically, my voice lowering a few decibels. "I'm right?"
"Yes, this is my fault. You didn't ask to be imprinted on, so I guess we'll just have to accept it and move on." He knawed on his bottom lip like he was thinking, "Maybe you should come here again sometime, we could get to know each other better."
"You mean... like... be friends?" I raised an eyebrow, "Even though I'm a vampire?"
"Well, you're a half vampire, and I guess you're not so bad. I mean, you're family drinks animal blood, right?" He asked, obviously trying to clarify what we had told him before.
"Yes, all of my family. We don't kill humans and some of us refrain from killing even animals like me and Abby." I answered with a smile, trying to impress him slightly.
"Abby is the vampire girl you were with before?" He asked dryly.
"Yes, Abby is my best friend, she's never killed another living creature and she would never hurt any of your tribe." I told him, "None of my family would unless you threatened us directly."
"Maybe once I get to know you our families could meet. My pack and your coven I mean." Cheveyo clarified again.
"Coven isn't really the right word. We're just a family." I smiled, Coven implied we were all just vampires, "We're a mixed family of lots of different species. So Coven doesn't really apply to us anymore."
"Fair enough, I see what you mean." Cheveyo nodded and then a smile spread across his face, "Maybe once we get to know each other I could see these good vampires for myself."
"Definitely, the Quileute Pack is a part of our extended family, many of the members have imprinted on members of our family." I grinned thinking of my family meeting a new tribe of shapeshifters, would they also imprint on a few members of my family?
"Well hopefully we won't steal anymore members of your family." He looked a little scared that his pack might imprint on vampires.
"It's not too bad once you get used to it, I think the interspecies imprinting and soulmate bonding is meant to happen, I think it's a way that the supernaturals can find balance again." I laughed a little at how dreamy I was sounding.
"Like fate or destiny? Like this is meant to happen for a particular reason?" He asked. He didn't sound sceptical, he sounded honestly curious about my opinion.
"Yes, I genuinely believe that this is meant to happen, that we are all linked through some means." I answered him, and then slowly he reached out with his fingers and touched my hand, still looking tentatively into my eyes, and then his warm hand engulfed mine.
"I think you may be right."
Katelyn Cullen
"Thank you for the date, Aaron." I smiled curtly, the date had been amazing, he had taken me out to see a film in Port Angeles and then taken me to a diner that served vegetarian food as I didn't want to eat a dead animal, I only drank the blood of animals and let them live.
"No, thank you for a wonderful date. I had a lot of fun. Same time tomorrow?" He asked hopefully, it wasn't too much to ask, I knew he would pay if I wanted him to, and I had nothing better to do.
"Yeah, sure. But I'm paying tomorrow. I don't like the whole 'men have to pay' bullshit." I giggled slightly and then looked into his eyes. I was sure that there was much, much more to him. In one night it was like I had fallen for him...
No. Not just fallen, I had plummeted into love without any sort of break. It was true what they say, that you can fall in love in one night.
"Good bye, Aaron. See you tomorrow." I breathed, not moving from his side. He didn't move either, and then slowly he laced his arms around my waist, pulling me into him.
He was strong for a human and quite tall, so even though I was around 5'4, he made me feel tiny. "Can I kiss you?" He asked, ever the gentleman.
"If you want to." I laughed and then parted my lips as his lips pressed to mine in a good night kiss. I had kissed guys before, but this was different, this feeling of serenity and peace, and the pure electricity that seemed to bounce through me at that moment.
After a second he pulled away, not wanting to push anything after only our first date. "Good bye, Katie." He grinned at me, using his own little nickname for me.
"Bye Captain." I grinned back, using my nickname for him.
"See you tomorrow," He said climbing into his car, and then he was gone. I squealed slightly and rather than running back to my own house, I charged towards Rennie's house, my dress cascading behind me as I ran.
"Rennie! Rennie! Rennie!" I yelled like a little school girl, I had never felt this energized and this happy, I had never felt this way about anyone. This all consuming feeling, it was amazing, the way it seemed to warm my heart and set my soul alight.
"What Kate?" Rennie opened the door looking confused, he hair was in a lose ponytail and she was obviously ready for bed.
"The date was amazing! I seriously think I'm in love!" I exclaimed at her, she raised an eyebrow.
"Are you feeling okay?" She asked, "Do you want me to take you to grandpa Carlisle?"
"I'm fine you twit." I rolled my eyes, losing some of my enthusiasm.
"Since when did the infamous Kate fall in love after one date?" Rennie snorted and looked at me strangely. "Are you sure you've not just swapped my Kate for someone else?"
"No, idiot. I'm still the same Kate.. I just... I don't know. I just feel different, Rennie. It's like... I've fallen hard for him in one night, and I can't explain it." I looked at her confused, hoping I didn't sound crazy.
"Maybe he's your soulmate. It guess it could happen." She shrugged and then grinned at me like a little girl, "So do you want to stop over and we can talk about it?"
"Yeah, Will you ask your mom and I'll go and ask mine." I prompted.
"I sort of already asked knowing you'd probably end up here anyway." Rennie smirked at me, "Everytime you have a date you always end up here to slag the guy off, but apparently this time you're head over heals for him."
"Apparently." I snorted a slight laugh and Rennie opened the door, I already had a few clothes here because I stopped over that often, so I didn't need to go and get any. I placed my bag on the coat rack and then followed Rennie into the room, "He was such a gentleman."
"A gentleman... how?" She raised an eyebrow again looking suspicious.
"He gave me his coat, pulled out my chair, opened doors for me, payed for lunch and asked if he could kiss me." I told her, "And that's not even the half of it. He was kind and sweet and considerate. He wasn't always staring at my breasts or making sexual references, he wanted to get to know me as a person, he wasn't just an over egotistical teenage boy trying to get his dick wet."
"Wow. Now you sound like the real Kate." Rennie chuckled and sat down with a jug full of hot chocolate and a plate of cookies, on the tray was an extra mug. "I was just making supper, you can share if you want."
I nodded as she sat besides me on the sofa, Rennie had her hair pulled back and was completely fresh faced, she was beautiful under all of the makeup. I never noticed before, but she actually looked better without all of the make up. "Sure," I grabbed a cooking off of the plate and began to knaw on the corner of it, it was obvious these had been cooked by Renesmee because I knew nobody else who put cinnamon in their cookies.
"You're mom's cookies." I said in observation, Rennie nodded and then placed her mug down on the coffee table at our feet.
"So, he was a gentleman, huh? Since when did you like all that bullshit?" Rennie looked confused, I had always come across as a complete feminist in the way that I would never let guys do things for me.
"He was different. He wasn't patronizing about it, like he didn't make me feel like he could do anything better than me, he just wanted to do those things to be nice, not to be an asshole later." I explained, though as I said the words they sounded a little defensive and stupid.
"Wow, I think you really might be in love." Rennie giggled at me, "Aww now you're blushing!" She exclaimed as I felt my cheeks turning crimson.
"Shut up Sarenee." I quipped, using her full first name to annoy her slightly.
"Ohh, using my real name. You must be really mad now." She made a mocked shocked face with her mouth hanging open, teasing me, and then i heard the door move.
"Will you two keep it down! Me and Edd are in the other room watching films when you two have-" His gaze froze on me, I turned to him and I felt something within me gravitate towards him.
"Kate? Liam?" Rennie sounded shocked, and then I saw Liam's face go from mad to shocked.
"No! Anyone but you!" He exclaimed, With those words I pulled my gaze from him and back to Rennie.
"Anyway, if you don't mind I was having a nice conversation with Rennie, so if you would please fucking leave." I raged at him, not willing to think about what had just passed between us.
"Kate..." Liam whispered the word and I refused to look at him.
"Go!" I screamed.
"Kate. I think my brother just imprinted on you." Rennie spoke the words softly, but as she did, rage burned deep within me. Anyone. Anyone but Liam!
