Creak... creak... creak... creak. Click. Allen swung his door open silently. Standing motionless for several seconds, he listened to the silence in the rest of the house. Determining it was all clear, he moved, bare feet padded quietly on the hardwood floor of the hallway before he halted in front of the dark brown, wooden door to your room. He smiled ever so slightly to himself before opening the door. Slipping into your room, he turned and closed it behind him with hardly a sound. He held his breath as he approached your sleeping form on the bed.
You murmured quietly in your sleep as Allen dropped to his knees beside you. He just sat and watched you sleep. For a while, there was no movement and no sound except for your deep breathing and Allen's much softer overlapping inhales and exhales. Shifting uncomfortable, you rolled over and your face came inches away from touching his. You sighed again. Allen exhaled through a smile. A soft, loving, kind smile. One that many people would avidly claim he was not capable of. Chortling to himself he reached out, pushing your hair away from your face with ghost-like fingertips. After a moment, he began whispering to you. Of course, he knew you couldn't hear him, and in actuality, he really didn't want you too. However, it gave him a sense of... peace... feeling that he had told you what he knew.
"Thank's for believing me today, babe. Turns out, protecting you is the one thing I can do pretty damn well, if I do say so myself... God damn bastard of a father never bothered to do much for you. Hell, he's the one that put you right in the middle of a god damn shit storm today and you don't even have a fucking clue! Son of a bitch... doesn't deserve you..." His fists clenched angrily in his lap and his face twisted into a scowl as he grit his teeth. His body shuddered angrily. Almost as if you felt the tension in the air, you murmured unintelligible things. Your forehead crinkling as you shifted once again on your bed. Taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself, he reached out to lightly touch your sleeping face again. "You probably thought I was crazy, huh? Standing outside your house until you got here. Fucking stalker I am..." His attention drifted to your window as his rage began boiling inside him and he studied the dark sky outside. He tried to continue whispering, but the words wouldn't come out of his mouth. His throat felt thick and heavy. He flinched uncomfortably but waited, taking deep breaths, before looking at you with concern, panic, and worry in his eyes.
"(Y/n) your dad bet you in a poker game today and he lost. I was at the bar, just minding my own... no- shit!" He ran his hand through his messy hair. "Goddamn it! (Y/n) I just didn't want you to get hurt. I came back here after I heard him give the fucking hosers your address and I offered them money. I offered them everything I had if they would just fucking leave you alone." He laughed, this time, there was no trace of light or happiness in his voice. "Bastards should've taken my first offer. Pretty sure one of 'ems gonna die in the hospital and the other two didn't look much better. Dumb fucks won't be thinking about coming around you anymore."
Allen's voice started to become tense and his speech more livid as he continued. He just barely managed to keep from waking you. "And I know you wouldn't like it if you knew I was getting into fights for you, but I don't know what else to do anymore! I-I don't want you to be disappointed in me... Not like everyone else. I can't handle that." His breathing was heavier now, ragged. He dropped his head and placed his hands tightly in his lap. "I've never felt this way... about anyone. I've never been so scared of making someone hate me before." He tore his gaze from his folded hands. His broken eyes studied every feature of your face desperately. "I think I love you, (Y/n)." He inhaled deeply before releasing the breath, like he had just relieved himself of a heavy burden.
Your eyelids fluttered as dreams flickered behind them. This time, your words were not mumbled, although only a small portion of them were comprehensible. Allen listened contentedly to you for a minute, he leaned in closer to better hear the words tumbling out of your mouth. "Unnm... no.. Allen put your shirt on... no! The yogurt on the bottom shelf is mine!" He snorted as the moment he had just felt was ruined and his frame shook slightly as he pressed a hand to his mouth to contain his laughter. God she's such a weirdo! Without hesitation, he leaned forward and pressed a warm kiss to your forehead. He smiled again. The mixture of sad and happy reflected in the maroon depths of his eyes could have stopped the heart of a hardened criminal. "I know you said I can't be in here, but do you think it'd be okay, just for a little bit?" He watched your face for a second before he shifted onto the balls of his feet and rose. Slinking around to the other side of your bed, he laughed as he pulled off both his t-shirt and his sweatpants before pulling the covers back and sliding onto the small bed, slowly as not to shift you too much. That oughta wake her up tomorrow morning at breakfast!
As he smiled to himself, you rolled over on the bed and pressed flush up against his chest. You both tensed, Allen whispered internal prayers, hoping desperately you wouldn't wake up yet. After a minute, your frame loosened and you shifted closer into the warmth of his body heat. He sighed, a low rumbling laugh escaping from his chest. He carefully brought his arms up around your back and pulled you closer, cradling you as you slept. He nuzzled his face into your hair, whispering quietly. "I love you (f/n) (l/n). I have from the moment you tried to ignore me in detention. I haven't stopped thinking about you since. I want you to know, I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe. I swear by the blood in my veins or by whatever god is fucking spying on us right now, I will never let anyone hurt you ever again." Allen let his eyes start to close as he yawned. "Good night baby cakes, I'll see you in the morning."
*Writer's note- I just couldn't bring myself to make this chapter dirty, sorry! Anyway, there's probably gonna be some innuendo in the next one as there's no way Allen would ever admit to having a sappy break down. Plus, Allen's obviously going to get chewed out for breaking two out of three rules, which should be pretty interesting ;) Thank's for reading, sorry if you were disappointed! Please don't stop reading though, I have so many drama plans for later... Peace-Berries and Beans
