The motorcycle snarled and jerked as it skidded to a halt in front of the school, sliding neatly into an open parking space. Gasping, you lurched off the bike and stumbled, the hard sidewalk loomed dangerously as your legs shook and you forced yourself to take deep breaths through your open mouth. Allen laughed throatily as he turned the key in the ignition and swung himself off the bike. "Are you okay, doll face?" You closed your eyes as the world swung dangerously. "No. I am not okay-" You took another deep breath in through your nose. "That was absolutely terrifying, Allen." The snarky look vanished from his face, "I'm sorry, I-I didn't know... How about another go?" He cut you off just as you were about to refuse. "Not today! Later this week. Please gorgeous?" You glared at him and he pouted desperately. Finally, your resolve cracked. "Maybe..."

Allen whooped loudly and fist pumped the air, "Then it's a date!" You blushed, "NO IT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT A DATE!" Several people stared at you as the two of you made your way up the main stairs of the school, bickering as you went. Before you knew it, you were at your first class. You looked at the room number in surprise. "Oh, hey, this is my class Allen. I need to go." He smiled happily. "Yeah, I know." He didn't leave. "Um, Allen? You can go... but thanks for walking here with me... I guess." His smile broadened. "Isn't that what all guys are supposed to do for their girlfriends?" You felt your face heat up furiously and you immediately opened your mouth to tell him off. "WE'RE NOT- MMMmnn!" Before you could push Allen back or even step away yourself, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours in a full, open mouth kiss. Your eyes crossed as you tried to focus on his face. After what felt like an eternity (it was probably only a few seconds) he pulled away, grinning wildly, and strode off casually down the hallway. "Bye, bye beautiful! I'll see you later!"

You felt like someone had just splashed a bucket of cold water all over you. Dimly, you recognized the ringing of the bell as someone shoved into your shoulder, telling you to "Get the fuck out of the way!", and you staggered into your classroom. Your legs shook as you flopped down into your seat. Nerves shaken, you tried taking deep breaths and brought your elbows up onto your desk; you rested your head in your hands. It felt like your heart was going to burst. I-I don't... What? What was THAT? Does this mean... Allen... likes me?

-Lovino-

He couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. He stood frozen in the now emptying hallway outside his class room. His brain refused to register what his eyes had just seen. Allen just... kissed (y/n)? But... No, I... haven't even told her how I feel yet... He took a deep, ragged, gasping breath, his frame shuddering. It hurt to think. He turned and walked quickly down the hall, wiping furiously at the tears he couldn't hold in with the palm of his hand. He couldn't face her right now. Not like this. He felt like someone had just cut his heart out of his chest, stabbed it full of needles, thrown it to the ground, trampled all over it, and dropped it in burning acid, all at once. The same thought kept circling through his head over and over and over again. I'm too late. Desperate to escape, he broke into a sprint. His pounding footsteps echoed off the cement walls of the school as he ran.

Finally, he crashed into the exit doors at the end of one of the long halls and they flew open. Lovino's bag slammed against his back rhythmically. He tried to think of a place to hide, but he ended up just collapsing beneath the large maple that dominated the empty field behind the school. Sobbing, he tore his bag off his back angrily and slumped to the ground, burying his head into his arms as they rested on his drawn up knees. You're too late. You're too late, Lovino. Maybe if you weren't so stupid you might have had a chance. Poor, useless little Lovino... You can't ever do anything right, can you?Lovino stood jerkily and turned to slam his fist into the tree. "SHUT THE FUCK UP! Just SHUT UP!" He stepped away from the tree and cradled his mutilated right hand to his chest. Hot tears continued to scald the side of his face and he panted with exhaustion. "God fucking damn it! Just shut up..." He dropped to the soft grass again and collapsed onto his side, allowing himself to curl up into something that resembled the fetal position. God why? Why couldn't you do this one thing for me? Just this once? All I wanted was for her to like me...

It felt like hours had passed before Lovino was able to quit crying. He sniffled and wiped at his face as he continued to lie limply in the grass. He didn't look up when a shadow fell over him. "Lovino? Mi amigo, what's wrong?" Lovino refused to answer. Antonio dropped down to sit on the ground next to Lovino's head and sighed, pushing his thick hair back out of his face. "(Y/n), huh?" Lovino felt a fresh flood of tears at the sound of her name. As they started to run down his face, a large hand settled lightly on his head and stroked his hair gently. Lovino tensed but didn't move away as he started crying again, softly this time. "It'll be okay Lovi, you'll be okay. Fusososososososo..."
