"Alfred. Alfred. ALFRED!" Alfred's head jerked around and he snapped at Gilbert irritably. "WHAT?!" Gilbert flinched away from his friend in his backwards facing position in the desk in front of Alfred and his eyebrows lifted in confusion, highlighting his ruby colored eyes. "Mein Gott, dude what's you're problem? I was just trying to talk to you!" He huffed indignity and turned around in his chair, letting his shoulders slump as he pouted.
Alfred sighed. "Geez man, okay, okay, I get your point. I'm sorry... Can you stop acting like a chick now?" Gilbert laughed sarcastically before turning back around. Alfred was lucky that his friend wasn't one to hold grudges."Very funny smart ass.. Seriously though, what's up with you?" Alfred bit the inside of his lip hesitantly while he considered telling Gilbert about the situation with (Y/n). Well... Gil's not really known for keeping his mouth shut.. Alfred let go of his lip. "It's nothing man. Just girl problems. Don't worry 'bout it." Gilbert grinned and winked, " 'Course not. A stud like you shouldn't have any problems getting the frauleins..." Alfred rolled his eyes and punched his friend playfully in the shoulder. "Very comforting to know that you think I'm a stud, Gil. I'll keep that in mind."
"Kesesesesese! I only speak the truth man! Well, most of the time..." Alfred smiled at his friend, happy that he was able to take his mind off his own problems for a little bit. It was hard to deal with the crap and drama he seemed to attract around him all the time. Sitting in his free period study hall with Gilbert made him feel... whole. He didn't have tons of time to spend with friends during sports seasons, and he spent all winter training. It had really started to suck towards the end of Sophomore year when he missed a good majority of the parties being thrown by upperclassmen, especially since almost everyone on the varsity football team went to all of them. His mom had ended up busting his ass several times for trying to ditch practice or school, not to mention the times they got into screaming fights when he'd sneak out late. Finally, however, she had managed to drill the fact into his head that sports were the only possible way he could afford to go to college. And most of the party crap stopped after that.
But there were still issues. It wasn't like Alfred was a bad kid anyway, just kind of... wayward. And it didn't help that the only person his dad and step mom had to compare him to was Mathew. Everyone looked like a wild child when compared side by side with Mathew. Alfred was smart though, and eventually he realized that the people that surrounded him weren't any better influences then the parties. But he couldn't just stop hanging out with them, it didn't work like that. Especially not with... him.
Alfred felt a sharp pain in his chest and he shook the thoughts from his mind. Knock it off Alfred! It won't do you any good to think about... it. And don't even think about comparing... him to (Y/n). She's nothing like him. She's sweet, considerate, kind, and... oh no. I like her.
Alfred sighed, knowing that he was going to need to face that problem sooner or later, but he was still hesitant about talking to her now. Especially with Allen near her. He shifted, letting his back crack as he stretched into his seat to get more comfortable. "So speaking of girl problems... what's up with you and Liz? Rumor has it you two ain't doin' so hot." Gilbert immediately stopped smiling and looked away from Alfred's curious stare. "Yeah, about that..." He took a deep breath and looked back to Alfred. "I broke it off." Alfred sat up let out a cry of disbelief, "No way man! You two have been together forever, what happened?" Gilbert shrugged, smiling casually. "It's just the way things go. We both decided it was time to start seeing other people." Alfred snorted. "I'm sure she was thrilled. Didn't you tell me that she had the hots for some orchestra snob?" Gilbert laughed. "Yeah, honest to God though, I'd ask him out if he wasn't such a dick." Alfred snorted. "You would. So... anyone else caught your eye yet?" Gilbert was suddenly very quiet and he shifted in his seat. His gaze locked on his folded hands when he began to speak again. "Well... maybe."
Alfred grinned widely, whistling through his teeth. "I knew it. Who is she? Or he?" It was no secret to anyone in the school that Gilbert was bisexual. In fact, Alfred was pretty sure that just got him even more positive attention then he already got from being one hell of a sexy albino. Gilbert laughed and he ran his fingers through his hair, grinning hesitantly. Odd enough though, he still wouldn't make eye contact with his best friend. Gilbert shifted in his seat. "Ha ha, yeah funny story about that actually..." Alfred waited for him to keep talking. He didn't.
"Gilbert, we're still in the middle of a conversation. Who is it?" Gil's eyes flicked nervously around the room, landing anywhere and everywhere but on Alfred. "Okay man, but you have to promise not to get mad or anything..." Alfred pulled back, confused. "Why would I be mad?" Gilbert twitched uncomfortably and remained silent for several seconds before he took a deep breath. "Alfred-"
Alfred F. Jones, please report to the main office. Alfred looked at the speaker in the ceiling before turning back to his now silent friend. "We'll talk later, okay?" Gilbert nodded, looking slightly relieved. "Yeah, sure man, sure." Alfred collected his stuff and headed for the door, nodding to the teacher before he left for the office. "Bye Gil! Later, alright?" Gilbert nodded again and as soon as his friend closed the door behind him, he groaned and dropped his head onto the desk in front of him. He sighed, angry at himself. "God you're such a coward Beilschmidt." His sad red eyes locked on the door where his friend had just exited and he took a deep breath.
"Alfred Jones, I think I'm in love with your little brother."
Writer's note- Drama party... Oh goodness, I actually do like this a lot, even though it's super short. Thanks for the request ShippingIsMyLife, I forgot how much I like this pairing :) But, Fyi: I wrote this instead of studying for exams. Oops... Oh well! Don't worry, after exams and musical (which ends this weekend) I'll get back into writing longer chapters regularly. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! Peace-Berries and Beans
