"Okay, I really think you need to report Mr. Rinaldo to the principal, (Y/n)." Mathew's eyebrows were crinkled with concern as the two of you headed back into school after you finished eating lunch. Unfortunately, talking to Mathew had completely killed the good mood Lovino had helped you reach just an hour earlier. God damn it Mathew, please just... stop. You wouldn't understand... "That was completely inappropriate, not to mention rude!"
You kept your eyes trained on your feet as you slowed your walking to a halt. Mathew stopped in his tracks and turned to look at you, feeling more confused then ever. "(Y/n), what's wrong?" You clutched your lunch bag close to your chest as you felt your eyes start to water and shrugged, still not looking at him. Mathew took a step closer to you at ducked his head to get a better look at your face. "(Y/n)..." You took a deep, shuddering breath and raised your head to look him in the eyes. You shook your head as tears streamed down your face. "I d-don't want them to tell m-my d-dad!" Mathew pulled you into a hug, "Oh, sweetie! Is that what you've been worried about all this time? Getting in trouble with your dad? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry..."
You hiccuped and tried to prevent yourself from getting snot all over Mathew's sweatshirt. "S'okay," you sniffled ",you d-didn't know." He sighed, giving you a tight, final squeeze before releasing you and reaching up to ruffle your hair lightly. "I won't report him then, but I can't speak for the others in your class. Ludwig takes stuff like this very seriously..." You nodded and wiped your nose with the back of your hand. "I know." You looked at the school building unhappily as the ringing of the bell echoed off the cement walls. "Why do I feel like lunch is so short here?" Mathew chuckled, still pitying you while pondering what to do with your situation. "I know... Shall we go inside?" You nodded and resumed walking again, the memory of the conversation the two of you had just had still running through your brain.
As you passed through the cafeteria and entered the main commons, you and Mathew both noticed a large number of people had stopped and were crowding around two people who, from the sounds of it, were arguing quite violently. You turned to look at Mathew and he stared right on back. Neither of you were fans of fighting, however, you both knew people who were.
You both picked up the jist of the argument as you pushed your way through the throng of people waiting to see if the verbal argument would soon get physical. "WELL THEN WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING?!" Alfred snarled angrily at Allen. "You were THERE!" Allen straightened his back defensively. Flashing his missing canine at Alfred, he growled back menacingly. "I already told you, IT WASN'T MY FIGHT. Get over it already!" Alfred's eyes narrowed and he took a step towards Allen threateningly. "You're so fucking stupid, you know that? You're supposed to DEFEND the girl you like! Not just-" "SHUT UP!" Allen roared. "YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT!"
The boys were mere inches apart now, ready to attack each other at any moment. You had to act fast. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a flash of silvery/white hair join Mathew as he moved to stand next to Alfred. You darted into the middle of the circle and came to a halt behind Allen. Hesitantly, you reached out and grabbed Allen's hand. He turned to glance at you questioningly. "Babe?" Your fingers clenched around his. "Allen, let's go." you whispered. Allen tilted his head and pursed his lips before smiling. "Anything for you, doll." The people who had been waiting for the fight groaned unhappily and shoved their phones and cameras back into their pockets as they started to wander off.
You pulled Allen back away from Alfred gently and saw Gilbert doing the same to Alfred, albeit his friend being a bit more unwilling to leave. Alfred's body was still tensed and his furious eyes were locked on Allen's and your entwined hands. "Alfred," Gilbert muttered, dragging his friend through the dispersing crowd. ",C'mon man, let's go."
You sighed and started off in the direction of your next class with Allen in tow. "What was that about, Allen?" He snorted. "That whiny little bitch was pissed off because I didn't 'stand up' for you in Government... Bastard." You glared at him warningly. "He's still my friend Allen." He rolled his eyes and picked up his pace in order to walk next to you. "Yeah, unfortunately, I know that." His lips curled away from his teeth savagely. "God, who the hell does he think he is!? Motherfucker. Better learn to mind his own business..." He exhaled nosily through his mouth as he held the classroom door open for you. "Thanks Allen." He chuckled, all traces of his earlier anger disappearing as he let his trade mark smirk slide across his face. "You're welcome." You jumped into the room as you felt his hand slide purposefully over your lower back "Allen!" He laughed. Irritated, you huffed at him and moved to the other side of the room before plopping down in your seat.
Ignoring the stare you felt Elizabeta drilling into your back, you opened your back pack to pull out yesterdays classwork to look over before the teacher entered the room. Allen strode past you cockily to take his own seat, still laughing as he stared at you from the back of the room. Ever so casually, you flipped him the bird over your shoulder and watched his response from the corner of your eye. He winked back at you. You rolled your eyes. Idiot...
-Alfred-
"... STUPID BASTARD!" Alfred slammed his fist into a nearby locker violently, leaving behind one hell of a dent in his wake. Gilbert laughed from behind him, greatly amused by his friend's angry display. "Whoa now! Slow down, speed racer.." Alfred snorted and turned to look at his friend. They were now alone in the spacious, downstairs hallway as Mathew had left to attend class (but not before expressing his disapproval at the two of them 'playing hookie'). "Glad you think that dick is funny, ass hole. Some friend you are..." Gilbert held his hands up in the air. "Easy now! This wasn't my fault!" Alfred rolled his eyes and plopped down on the bench placed on the opposite side of the hall. "God, thinks he know best... my ass!"
Gilbert sighed and crossed his arms over his chest to examine his friend. "Don't let him stress you out, Al. (Y/n) looked fine to me." Ignoring his friend's angry glares, he came forward until he was standing right in front of Alfred. "Look, I have an idea. You're too tense. You just need to calm down and relax for a little bit. There's a party at Antonio's house this Friday night.."
Alfred shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Gil, I don't know..." His friend held out his hand to stop him from saying anything else. "Don't get your panties in a knot. It's just gonna be something small with a little bit of beer, nothing horrible. Please go, it's been like forever since you and I have partied together." Alfred looked at his pouting friend, all of his resolve cracking as he replayed the jumbled emotions he felt when he saw (Y/n) grab Allen's hand.
"Fine, I'll go- But only if (Y/n) can come too." Alfred added quickly. Gilbert cheered and moved to slap his best friend on the back as Alfred stood up. "'Course she can, man! Toni will be psyched!" Gilbert continued talking excitedly while Alfred collected his bag off of the floor. "Alright! This'll be awesome! Kesesesese! I'll tell Toni you and your girl will both be there, then. What time do you want me to pick you two lovebirds up?" The pair of friends set off down the hall still arguing playfully with one another, completely unaware of the person who had just overheard their entire conversation.
The man mused over said conversation in his head as he made his way slowly and precisely to the Library for 'study hall'. Normally, he would not stoop to an act so low as eves dropping despite his 'hooligan' appearance. However, it was only by chance that he had happened to be in the vicinity of Alfred's and Gilbert's loud conversation at all, and they would not have been particularly happy if he had appeared near them. Their history together was not, to say... the best.
But... the potential prize did outweigh the risk of any means he'd have to take in order to steal it, so the sin could be overlooked. But just this once. The man chuckled quietly to himself as he made his way up the stairwell. What an exciting way to re-start our game, my little kitten. Especially since I will be taking you away from that fool who 'loves' you so much. Baka.. It taints my heart to even think about him.
But in any case, I'm glad that we shall be able to play together again so very, very soon...
