"So, what's the deal?" Soul demanded as soon as his Meister walked through the door of their hotel room.

"I couldn't find him. By the time I pinpointed his location, he was long gone," Maka replied, her face stone cold. "Sorry."

Tsubaki, who had been standing by the window, sat down on the bed next toMaka, gazing kindly at her friend. "It's not your fault. Black Star... Well, he's a loose cannon."

"You got that right. Ever since we were younger," Maka stated. "In any case, I think our best move now would be to get back to the DWMA and get ready for a battle. They'll need all the Weapons and Meisters they can get. Us included."

The three students remained in silence for a solid minute before Tsubaki stood up and nodded. "I'll go pack then.

"If it's not too much trouble, could you phone Shinigami-sama and ask for a ride?"

"Sure," Tsubaki answered shortly before striding out of the room.

A few seconds of silence passed after the door clicked shut. Finally, Soul turned to his partner who was avoiding his gaze. Something was definitely up.

"Alright, what's the real deal?" he asked.

"We're going to help Black Star take out the Star Clan," Maka replied, getting herself a gentle forehead flick from Soul.

"Yeah, I figured that much. I meant what's the plan?"

Maka looked up at her partner gratefully. She didn't have to worry for a second that he wouldn't be on board. Soul always had her back, no matter how crazy and reckless her game plan was. How insane the goal was didn't matter much either.

"Well, as much as I hate to say it, we're going to have to call in my dad," the scythe Meister groaned, burying her face in her hands.

Soul blinked. Whatever was going to go down, a situation where Maka was desperate enough to enlist her father's help was definitely uncool.

"Did you hear that? My little girl needs me!" the Deathscythe Spirit exclaimed as he watched the scene unfold from the Death Room back at the DWMA along with Stein, Death the Kid, and Shinigami-sama.

"Unforunately, we can't afford it, Spirit," Shinigami-sama decreed. "If we really do have a battle on our hands then we need all the defense on the Academy as possible. And seeing as you are the only Deathscythe in the vicinity..."

Deflated, the Deathscythe slumped onto the ground. "The one time Maka asks for my help..."

"Now, now, if one of my students' lives was at risk, I would deploy our immediately, but seeing as the situation at hand requires you to be here..."

"At least let me go help them, father," Kid spoke up, adjusting his tie. "We're a team, and now that I'm available, I think I should be entitled to go aid my teammates."

"That's the spirit, son!" Shinigami-sama exclaimed joyfully. "You can take the Death jet if you want."

Eyes sparkling, Kid eagerly took the keys his father held out to him and strode towards the exit. "I'll be in touch."

Liz and Patty who were waiting in the hallway gave their Meister expectant looks as he exited the Death Room.

"So what's going on?" asked Liz.

"I'll give you a hint," replied Death the Kid, holding up the keys to the Death Jet. "We are going to Japan."

Liz's job dropped as Patty squealed with childish excitement.

"Well, let's get going," Kid declared, leading the way to the secret hangar. "Our team needs our help."
