I'll never say Elizabeth was an ignorant creature, but her obssession with the Supernatural left some of us feeling uncomfortable. She had proved that the supernatural was real time and time again and we all believed her. So when she presented the Sachiko Ever After Charm we shrugged and went alone. The five of us, Elizabeth, Sloan, Michael, and, myself willing if not nervously grasped the ends of the little paper doll. I gazed down at the scrap of harmless paper. It was plain construction paper and still had little spots of black on it from where she'd cut it out unevenly. Could her little incantation really do as she said? She sat on the desk behind her with a little huff.

"Come on... Aren't you a little excited? We will be able to stay together forever with this charm! Isn't that great!?" There was a nervous... No, fearful edge to her voice. All of us were afraid of being seperated. We didn't have good relationships with our families to say the least and we were kind of all each other had. People had taunted us on numerous occasions that out mix matched family would eventually fall apart. From the tense muscles in Michaels jaw I could tell it wasn't just my teeth that were grinding. The four of us formed a loose circle around Elizabeth and her little paper doll.

"What do we do?" Sloans gruff yet soft voice asked her. She smiled brightly at him.

"We grab hold of the doll, say 'Sachiko, we beg of you' three times in our heads, and then pull it apart! You have to keep your piece forever afterwards."

"That's all?" I drawled out cautiously.

"Yep! Are you guys ready?" We nodded and she held the doll out with her fingertips. Following suit we each held our own piece of the doll. No one spoke but the air was palpable with tension and something else I couldn't identify. It was like a strange compulsion that the chant started its three round course in my mind.

Sachiko... We Beg Of You! My palms began to tingle and then sweat. The air around me grew cold as goose flash broke out on my arms.

Sachiko... We Beg Of You! My fingers tightened around my section of paper as an almost thoughtless action. My heart was pounding in my chest as the air changed suddenly from freezing cold to burning hot. Sweat pricked my forhead as I fought to control my breathing or take a breath at all for that matter.

Sachiko...We Beg Of You! With the last utterance of that phrase all of our hands jerked backwards and ripped the paper into small pieces. For a long while nothing and everything happened at once. The air grew still and silent. I heard and felt nothing. It was as if time its self had stopped and left us suspended in an immeasurable moment of time. Then the shaking started. It was faint at first, like a soft vibration in the floor. Then the walls shook, the floors cracked under our feet... It was like I could feel our world chipping away piece by piece. Without warning like some sick ride at an amusement park the floor suddenly bottomed out. It wasn't like the floor cracked apart and fell away, it was more like there was never a floor to begin with and just this giant pit of darkness that we suddenly found ourselves fall into. My head snapped up and my arms reached for something to grab, something to hold onto, knowing full well there was nothing but reaching out of desperation none the less. A pit formed in my stomach as the last thing I heard was Elizabeth, screaming out, as well fell into the void.
