A/N: Hey guys it's been a while *dodges tomatoes being thrown* (^◇^;) I'm sorry it took me soooooo long to update and I hope you haven't lost fate in me! Well hopefully things will start slowing down and I will be able to start writing regularly. Enough blabbering lets get on to what you can here for!

Many of the students in the school parking lot stared at Sam. He stood out, he was so tall and muscular and looked more mature than most of the high-schoolers here. But most of all he had a certain calm yet confident way that he carried himself. These things made him even more intimidating and attractive than he already was.

Before I could walk over to him the the pack began to make their way to Sam. They all had a overall look of confusion on their faces. When they got to him it seemed as if Sam briefly told them something and they all looked my way. I couldn't pay much attention to what they were saying. I didn't even try catch what he had even told them, them I was too busy thinking about Tristan.

What exactly was with him today, he usually didn't act like that. It also seemed like he knew something that I didn't. Was it possible that he remembered me drinking his blood? No, that's not it. If he did then why would even get anywhere near me, much less talk to me. Or was he really just that weird to talk to someone who drank his blood or was I missing something?

I was still thinking about this when Sam approached me.

"Are you okay?"

"Huh?" I looked up to see Sam leaning on a wall beside me.

'How did I miss him?'

"I asked if you were okay. You seem a little out of it," he said amused even going as far as waving his hand in front of my face. "I called your name a couple times but you never turned."

"Really? It's kind of loud here so I didn't hear you," I replied as I smoothed my hair trying to seem cool.

"Are you ready to go?" He gave me a seductive smile that made my stomach flutter.

"Yeah."

The car ride was for the most part silent. My heart was beating ferociously in my chest and my hands were beginning to build a thin layer of moisture on them.

"Are you nervous?" Sam chuckled beside me.

'Oh god I forgot that he probably can smell sweat and hear my heart.'

"Why do you say that?" I asked trying to keep my cool, wiping my hands on my jeans.

"Your body language" he turned to look at me briefly, "and my senses are better than the average persons."

Dammit.

"You don't have to be scared of me I wouldn't hurt you," he said the last part so seriously and I couldn't help but gaze at him.

"I'm not nervous," I muttered looking at the ground. But I was nervous and in fact almost scared. I didn't know what exactly he was going to ask me but I was really worried that soon the words would flow effortlessly out of my mouth and I would confess to the events of last night. And I was especially worried about what his reaction would be if I did...

I looked away trying to focus my gaze on scenery.

We arrived at a cabin like house that was nested by the forest. It was a decent sized brown simple cabin but it had a certain charm to it. Trees surrounded it and I began to think about how it must have been easier to shift into their wolf form out here.

"Easy access huh?" I muttered.

Sam looked at me and raised his eyebrow. "Um you know for enjoying the great outdoors and ... stuff," I said, the last part came out rushed. "A cabin in the woods sounds really"-

"Scary?"

"Huh? Oh I was going to say cozy but I mean with that movie it could be scary too..." Oh man that literally made no sense what so ever. Could I embarrass myself anymore.

He just nodded his head. He probably thought I was an idiot.

For some reason I imagined that he'd lead me to a dark room with no windows and the only furniture would be a table, two chairs and a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling. Instead when he opened the door I found that his house was actually pretty cozy. The furniture was simple and comfortable, there wasn't a ton of decorations in fact I think that the T.v and entertainment center was the main focus of the house. His home was also very clean and organized which pleasantly surprised me

"Would you like something to drink?" he asked me while walking towards the kitchen. I followed a few steps behind him.

"Water would be nice," he walked over to the cupboard pulled out two cups then filled them with water then handed one to me. I took a sip to try to relieve the ache in my throat. It was similar to the one last night and all though the water didn't make it go away, it softened the burn.

We sat down at the kitchen table and he pulled up a chair next to mine and turned it to face me.

"I spoke to Billy earlier. He told me that you haven't told him exactly what you are," he looked at me as if for confirmation.

"That's true," I answered he nodded his eyebrows scrunched together he looked like he was in deep thought.

"I'm not going to force you to tell me," I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I let go of a breath that I had been holding. "But I will explain to you the rules from around here," he took a pause.

"Our job as wolves is to protect our family, friends and most importantly the community. Our enemies are the cold ones or vampires. If a vampire crosses our territory we will kill them without a second thought." He looked at me while he let this information sink in.

'Well telling him about last night is now completely out of the question.'

"The only exception is a coven of vampires called the Cullen's, we have a treaty with them. As long as they don't turn anyone into a vampire and don't cross the border we have set between ourselves we won't go after them. One of the downsides is that we're not allowed to phase on their side of the border."

"Why do you have a treaty with them?" I asked then taking a sip of the water.

"They don't kill humans to feed, instead they hunt animals."

"Really. That's possible," I said in astonishment. I started to wonder how they controlled their urges for human blood was it possible that if I could do that myself? "Do they live close by?" I asked I wanted to meet them and find out how they did made the switch.

"They live on the outskirts of a town called Forks."

"Forks? Like a the eating utensil," I started giggling.

"I've never really thought of it like that, but now that you mention it does sound pretty strange," he smiled at me it made my heart squeeze a little. It seemed like suddenly the tension in the house was melting away

"Hmm. Is this all you wanted tell me?" I asked after a few moments of silence.

"Are you trying to escape from me?"

"No it just got quiet..." He smiled.

"Well I thought that for the rest of the time we could just sit around and quietly enjoy each others presence."

"What?" I said.

"I'm just kidding. I was also going to tell you that I had a talk with Leah and Paul. I made sure that they both understood that they couldn't keep bothering you."

"How do you know if they're going to listen?" I asked with a skeptical look on my face.

"Well Leah's gone to stay with her cousin Emily for a while and Paul he's calmed down quite a bit since I had a little talk with him."

"Wait she left?" I asked shocked. He nodded.

"She was having personal issues so we suggested that go stay with Emily so she could take some time to relax and cool down."

"We?" I asked.

"I had to discuss this with the council."

It took me back how easily Leah had left, it sounded more like exile than a suggestion to take a vacation. All this send goosebumps across my skin.

"Who exactly is the council?"

"They're the group of elders. You know Billy is on it."

"Oh really. Are they all human?"

"Yes."

"And they all know about you guys and vampires?"

"Of course."

"Wow."

"Sam can I ask you something?" I saw him lean in a bit.

"Go ahead."

"I... you know what never mind."

"What did you want to ask?"

"Um it's nothing," I said I was going to ask about what Paul had told me about my parents but I wasn't sure I was quite ready to hear what he had to say. Plus it would have ruined the mood. Perhaps I could find the answer to that later.

"You know you can ask me anything," he said as his posture relaxed slightly.

"Thanks but I rather not ask right now."

"Alright."

"I should probably get home," I said after another moment of silence.

"Why so soon? Why don't you stay for a little while more ... that is if you want to," The question shocked me.

"Um sure."

"Cool."

"Cool," I repeated.

"Hey," he said shifting in his position. "Do you want to play a game?"

"What kind of game?" I asked intrigued.

"A fun one," a playful smile played on his lips. I couldn't help but agree.

"Pass. Those horrible memories should be left in the past where they belong."

"Come on. Please," he batted his eyelashes as if this was suppose to change my mind. I was already starting to regret to agreeing to play this game with him.

"You ask the worst questions!" I grumbled.

"No. I ask the funniest questions."

"Ugh fine. One time when I was riding my bike around the block- well at the time I had a small crush on this guy from my school and as I'm riding my bike I spot him with this group of kids from my school. They were on the corner of my street they must have been walking around or something. Well I wan't wearing the cutest clothes, I was still in some ugly sweats and my hair was really messy. So I turned my bike around as fast as I could to avoid them. But of course I turned too quickly and I lost my balance and fell. It was pretty embarrassing cause as soon as I turned my bike I saw my downfall coming and it wasn't a quick fall. It was a slow fall and afterwards I even laid on the ground for a while trying to convince myself that maybe if I stayed still they wouldn't see me. I stayed there so long a lady in a car stopped to see if someone had hit me. I'm not even sure why I thought that was a good idea."

"Wow that was a wild ride, no pun intended. That wasn't too bad," he said but the smile he was trying to bite down told me otherwise. I rolled my eyes at him.

"What do you do in your past time?" I asked.

"Honestly for the most part I just hike or patrol."

"You seem so boring," I teased.

"Boring? I'm just a simple man."

"Favorite type of music?"

We ended up spending the rest of the time play some sort of game where we asked each other questions back and forth. Some how during this game we had moved to the couch the TV played softly in the back ground but we weren't paying it any attention.

"Hey are you hungry?" he asked suddenly out of the blue.

"Um a little bit."

"Great I'm not the only one." He got up and walked over to the kitchen.

I hadn't even realized how much time had passed until I looked outside and saw that the sky had already become a dark blue.

Time sure flies by when your having fun.

"Would you like anything to eat?" he asked already pulling something out of the refrigerator.

"If its not a problem with you," I could hear the sink water running.

"You can cook?" I asked as I walked over to the kitchen.

"Yeah, I tend to get really hungry. It comes with being a wolf and since there are times that I want to get something to eat late at night when nothing is open I had to learn. Plus I can't have my mom always come over to cook for me."

"Does she live close by?" I asked leaning on a chair, suddenly eager to learn more about him.

"She lives on the res, not too far from here. Sort of close to the school. I was actually there spending sometime with her before I met with you," a fond smile crossed his face.

"I never took you as the mama's boy type," I teased and laughed as I saw his face flush.

"I'm not a mama's boy" he muttered under his breath. "There's nothing wrong with a man checking in on the woman who cared for him all his life."

'He seems to really care about her.'

"Do you need any help?" I moved closer to him.

"If you want you can help me cover these fish in crumbs so I can fry them," I rolled up my sleeves and washed my hands

"Do you have any siblings?" I asked as I began to get to work.

"Just a younger sister."

"Does she live with your mom?"

"No, she got married not too long ago and moved in with her husband. What about you?"

"I'm an only child. I wish I had another sibling."

"Does that mean you live on your own? Aren't you really young for that?"

"I don't really have much of a choice. Um but my aunt stayed with me for a while not too long ago but she had to take care of some business. Right now I live with a friend of the family."

'I guess I could call Gabriel that. '

We chatted back and forth like that all the way through dinner.

I ran through the forest. I only made a few occasional stops just to make sure I wasn't being followed by any of the wolves. If word got out to them especially Sam and they knew where I was going and why my head would be on the chopping block. Imprint or not.

Today when I woke up I already had made up my mind on what I was going to accomplish today.

I was going find the Cullen's. I needed to meet these vampires and learn how they resisted the urge to drink human blood.

I wasn't sure exactly why I thought this was a good idea. I hadn't even made a plan on a way to find the clan vampires. So far I had been relying on instinct and even that wasn't getting me anywhere. What I really wanted at this point was some sort of sign that would mark the border between the Cullen's and the wolves territory. At least then I would know if I was even on the right territory or on my way to Canada. It was beginning to get dark and I was getting literally no where, I'd have to go home soon.

"Shit. It's getting dark and I'm lost," I muttered to myself. My stomach decided to pitch in. "And I'm hungry."

"I can see that," I turned quickly to see a familiar face smiling to me a few trees away.

"Fancy meet you here," Edward gave me a cocky smile.

"Does this amuse you?" I said walking closer to him returning the smile.

"Very."

"So what are you doing out here?" I asked folding my arms over my chest.

"I feel like I should be asking you the same thing."

"I'm just out you know getting in touch with nature, doing a little bit of adventuring... Actually maybe you could help me."

"How so?" by now we were only a few feet from each other.

"Well you see I'm looking for someone -well actually a group of someones."

"I might be able to help you. Who exactly are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for the Cullen's. Do you know them or where I can find them?"

His calm expression hardened making me wonder if I said anything wrong.

"Why are you looking for them?" he said cautiously.

"I need to talk to them. I have something important to ask them."

"Well what is it?"

"Look Edward I don't want to seem rude but can you help me or not because it's getting late, I'm tired and hungry. I just want to get this over with and then I'll go home, okay?" I looked at him desperately.

He was quite for a second.

"I'll take you to them. You just have to promise me that you won't hurt them."

"Of course," I was taken back by the request "I only need to ask them something. I wouldn't harm them."

"Okay, I'll trust your word."

"But," Suddenly before I could respond he zoomed by me with such amazing speed. "Are you sure you can keep up?"

I smirked. "Of course."

I couldn't help but be impressed by his speed I haven't met many who've been able to keep up with me. It was exhilarating to run across the forest floor and glide from tree to tree. It felt like we were flying. Before I knew it he came to a stop my heart was pounding in my chest, adrenaline was pulsing through my veins.

"We're here," he announced. I couldn't help but stare up at a big mansion like house. It was white and neatly nested within the forest, it looked like the kind of modern house that you would see on the house channel. It was amazing.

"Wow. This place is huge," I said in awe.

"Well yeah, there needs to be enough room for all of us," he began walking towards the entrance and I followed close behind.

'Us? What does he ...'

"Hey Edward what do you mean-"

"EDWARD!" a shrill voice cried. A small girl ran out the house towards him. "Where were you! I couldn't see you all day! I thought that you died or ran into one of the wolves-"

"I'm fine Alice" he said chuckling.

Alice exhaled dramatically. "Don't do that again you had us all worried. We were going start looking for you." She turned my way almost seeming surprised by presence.

"Alice this is Bella. She's a friend of mine."

"Hi," I said shyly waving.

"Oh hello sorry about that I'm Alice. Nice to meet you," she stuck her hand out to me.

"Nice to meet you too," I took her hand and was surprised by how icy and smooth her hand was. It suddenly occurred to me that I've never shaken the hand of a vampire.

"Come in! I'm sure the others will be happy to meet you," she smiled over her shoulder.

'Others how many are there?'

I shot Edward a glare and he smirked in response. We went over to what was the living room. I was surprised by how many people there were. There was five others in the living room. A blond older man who seemed to be the leader, a kind looking woman with brown hair, a beautiful blond girl, a buff and brawny guy, and another guy with blond hair. They were all incredibly beautiful and pale. Most of all they all had the same yellowish topaz colored eyes.

'I can't believe I just waltzed into a room full of seven vampires. If anyone ever finds out that I was fraternizing with the "enemy" man I'll probably into a shitload of trouble or something...'

"Everyone I would like you to meet my friend Bella." Edward said.

"Why is she here?" the blond girl said. "She smell like a dog" she crinkled her nose.

"Rosalie!"

'Well damn. Do I stink that bad' I tried to discreetly take a whiff of myself but I didn't smell anything dogish.

"I'm sorry, you'll have to excuse my daughter she's not use to visitors." The blond man stood "I'll introduce everyone my name is Carlisle and this my wife Esme. And these are my children Rosalie, Emmett and Jasper. I assume you've already met Alice."

"Hello everyone, it's nice to meet you." I felt a little awkward I actually didn't think I would get this far so I was unsure on how to begin asking them.

"It's not everyday Edward brings a friend over. We should celebrate somehow" Alice said.

"Oh that's not necessary I actually-"

"Actually Bella wanted to see my music collection" Edward interrupted me he grabbed my wrist and began to lead me upstairs. I felt like a rag doll being dragged away.

"Hey your hurting me," I whined. I yanked my arm away and began rubbing my wrist. We arrived at a room I hesitated to enter but I decided that if he tried to pull anything weird than I would be capable of fighting back.

"Why did you take me to your room?" I asked stepping into the lions den.

"To show you my music collection," he replied innocently as I rolled my eyes.

His room was quite big, on one side there was a wall sized window that gave a a gorgeous view of the forest the other wall was lined with his music collection. I couldn't help but be was impressive all of his CD's and records. Once I took a closer look I noticed all of them were organized in alphabet order. He had a dark wood expensive looking desk and couch as the only form of furniture in his room.

"You don't have a bed," I stated. He smiled at me.

"I don't need one. Vampires don't sleep," he replied.

"That seems like it'd be nice," I said thinking about how much more I could get done if I didn't need sleep but then again I loved dreaming it brought me out of reality for a little while.

"It's alright," sadness tinted his word.

"Well your music collection is pretty cool. Do you mind if I check it out?" I said trying to change the subject.

"That's why you're here," he smiled. I rolled my eyes.

"Why did you say that you were going to show me your music collection by the way?"

"Are you going to ask those questions now?" he asked abruptly.

"Or right. You know this would have been so much easier if you had just told be that you were part of this coven from the beginning."

"I guess so but I felt like there was someone there watching us plus I wanted to tease you."

I felt the blood drain out of my body

"Like who?" I said wishing with all my might that it wasn't one of the wolves.

"I'm not sure"

"Shit. Look can we sit down?"

"Sure."

"I want to know how you guys don't drink human blood. How do you resist the urge?"

"What are you?"

"Edward, please answer the question,"he gave me a wary look.

"We drink animal blood. It's not the same as human blood but with will strength you can overcome your urges. It takes time though and there will be times when you want to drink from some random person but you have to think about their life and what your taking from them."

"Is it possible to drinks someones blood without killing them?"

"It might be possible but like I said you need to have a strong will and knowledge to know when to stop."

"What about blood donations?"

"I suppose that could work but it's hard for most vampires to get their hands on those. Carlisle is a doctors so he probably could get some but I doubt he ever would. You know what with it being so important to the hospital and the well being of the patients. Whats this all about Bella?"

'Should I tell him...'

I took a deep breath and sat down on the chair by the desk.

"I drank my friends blood the other day," I spit out. "It didn't kill him and I'm not completely sure he knows what happened. And truth be told I'm not sure either because I black out while it happened."

"Then how do you know you drank his blood if you passed out?"

"Well I just kind of knew. When I woke up he was limp and pale and-"

"Hasn't he always looked like that."

"Ha ha" I said sarcastically "Aren't you just the funniest," he smiled at me. "Well besides that he had a bite mark on his neck and the blood had dried there. Wait how do you know him?"

"I've seen him around town and I heard him thinking about you."

"Wait you heard him think?"

"I can read minds," before I could ask another question he began speaking again. "How is he now?"

"Alive if that's what you're asking."

"I figured. I meant if you noticed anything strange in his appearance or behavior."

"See that's the thing, he wasn't acting that strange. You'd think that maybe if he remembered he'd freak out and would try to stay far away from me. Right?" I looked back at Edward looking for him to confirm this to me. "But today it seemed like he was trying to get closer to me."

"How so?" He tilted his head.

"I mean he kept getting close to me and he kept finding ways to touch me. I mean it didn't really bother me but it was a little strange."

"I think I know what is going on with him," he said seriously.

"Well?"

"Has it ever occurred to you that it may be possible that he might just have a crush on you."

"Um what? There's no way we're just- no!" I said flustered

"Aw that's cute you're embarrassed," he laughed.

"Shut up. Now seriously what do you think is going on here?"

"Well honestly I don't know," he frowned. "Your nothing like anyone I've ever met or come across. It may just be that this situation is limited to you."

Immediately my mood was brought down. I honestly thought that by coming here I could get some answers. As if sensing my mood Edward started speaking again.

"Perhaps we could talk to Carlisle? He's been around longer than I have so it's possible he might be able to give an answer of whats going on."

"I don't know Edward... I mean everyone seems nice and all but I don't really know them. It's going to be weird to just ask him about this sort of thing..." I pulled my legs to my chest.

"Bella, it's better to at least try. I promise you that he won't judge you for what you have done in fact he might just be happy that you're realizing your mistake and taking action to prevent it form happening in the future." I couldn't help but be touched by his words of comfort but before I could say anything he began to speak again.

"Plus vampires have really good hearing and since I usually don't bring friends over so there is the slight chance they're listening to the conversation as we speak."

"You have got to be kidding me." he only shrugged in response.
