XashXdawnX - I know I am such a horrible person. I am so sorry I haven't updated in over two years. But thanks to Halo Ash, for suggesting a wonderful idea I was able to sit down and write a chapter. So thanks again Halo Ash and I hope everyone enjoys the chapter.

The final bell rang and the gang walked out to the courtyard.

"How about we go to the beach?" Rocky suggested.

"That sounds great. We haven't all hung out at the beach in awhile." Dawn agreed and smiled when Ash grabbed her hand.

"Sounds good to me." Ash said.

"What's Drew suppose to do at the beach? He can't exactly swim." May asked as she motioned to Drew who was leaning on his crutches looking bored.

"Thanks for thinking about me June and being concerned, but I don't need it. I'm up for a beach trip. Sure I can't do anything, but I get to hang out with my friends, so I'm up for it." Drew replied.

"It's MAY!"

"Sorry, April." Drew said, smirking.

"So it's settled?" Rocky asked and a chorus of yes was her reply.

"We can meet at the car rental building in thirty minutes." Rocky said and walked off towards the dorms.

Everyone left, leaving Drew and May by themselves.

"Are you sure you're okay going to the beach?" May asked.

"What could go wrong?" Drew asked.

"You'll be by yourself most of the time."

"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me, okay?"

"Okay...see you in a few." May said standing on her tiptoes and kissing his cheek, before running off.

Drew started towards the dorms to drop his bag off, since he wouldn't be able to swim there was no reason for him to change clothes.

Drew sat down on the sand.

"I brought you a book in case you got bored of being by yourself." May said as she knelt next to Drew.

Drew took the book she had in herhand and a small smile appeared on his face.

"Of course you would bring the book we have to read for English." He said.

May leaned closer to him. "This way you can help me with it cause I have no idea what it's saying. It's in that crap you like."

"It's old English, May. Shakespeare..." Drew said, stopping when he saw May's face.

"You know Romeo and Juliet's writer..."

"I know who Shakespeare is, Drew. This isn't him."

Drew laughed. "You're helpless, Maple."

"...And you're my hero."

"I'll explain it to you, but I'm not doing your work."

"Thanks, Drew!" May cried, kissing his cheek quickly and standing up.

Leaf walked over to where Drew was.

"I brought food." She said setting a basket down.

"It's for all of us, so don't eat it all." She said, laughing.

Drew nodded his head.

Everyone of his friends were in the ocean now, except for Dan. Drew looked around and saw Dan heading over. He was just now leaving the jeep.

"Well Drew you may not get to swim, but you can look at all the girls." Dan said.

Drew smirked, "Got that right, Danny Boy."

Dan laughed and headed to the ocean.

I don't need to look at the girls. The only girl I want to look at is here and looks better than all the other girls here. Drew thought, finding May who was laughing.

After a while Drew started to get bored, so he looked at the book. Sighing, he opened it and began to read. Better to lose himself in the words than lose himself in his loneliness.

After reading for a little while Drew marked his page and set it aside. He looked at the ocean and saw his friends, laughing. It looked like they were playing chicken. May was on Ash's shoulders trying to push Leaf off of Gary's shoulders.

Drew wasn't jealous of Ash for two reasons. One, Ash was dating Dawn and was head over heels in love with her. He had been for the longest time, everyone had known except for Dawn of course. Two, Ash and May were like brother and sister, so their love was like siblings.

May's cheering brought Drew out of his thoughts. She had successfully knocked Leaf off. Leaf popped back up from the water, laughing.

"You guys hungry?" Drew heard Ash ask.

Drew figured everyone replied yes since they started heading towards the shore. Ash allowed May to get off his shoulders and followed his friends.

Drew looked in the basket to see what food there was. Some sandwiches, a mixed bag of fruit pieces, some crackers...

"So what all did you get Leaf?" Gary asked, causing Drew to look up.

Gary and Leaf were by him and Dawn was drying off with a towel. Dan and Rocky were out too and yelling at one another about something.

A shriek filled the air causing Drew to look towards the water to see that May was suddenly under the water.

"MAY!" He yelled getting up quickly, despite his leg.

"Whoa, Drew you can't go into the water." Dan said suddenly by Drew and stopping him.

Ash was still in the water and swam to where she went under at.

"I hope she's okay..." Rocky said softly.

Ash surfaced with May. He ran onto the beach and laid her on the ground.

"A Tentacruel had her ankle and she hit her head on a rock. She was unconscious by time I reached her." Ash said, trying to catch his breath.

"We have to get her to the hospital." Dawn said, already gathering things and tossing them into her bag.

Drew felt like he was in a daze. He followed his friends as fast as he could while on the crutches. He hopped into the jeep and May was put in the back with him.

Before Leaf got into the truck he heard her talking on the phone.

"Yes, a teenage girl will be coming in soon. She hit her head on a rock while in the ocean while struggling from a Tentacruel's grip on her foot. She's unconscious. We're on our way..."

Ash put the jeep into reverse and quickly started to drive towarss the hospital.

May was hurt. He wasn't able to save her. He had failed her. He had told her he would be there to protect her from anything. He was her boyfriend, he was suppose to save her. His stupid leg prevented him from everything.

They arrived at the hospital and May was taken back into a room.

"We have to get back to school. But someone has to stay with her..." Dawn trailed.

"I'll stay with her. I have an appointment tomorrow morning, a check up and this is the hospital I go to. Why not just stay?" Drew volunteered.

"Okay, just keep us updated."

"I will, don't worry."

They left and Drew was left in the waiting room. What he had used as an excuse wasn't exactly a lie. He had a check up, but it had been yesterday. A small white lie wouldn't hurt.

Drew went to the front desk.

"Excuse me, what room is May Maple in?" He asked.

"She hasn't been moved to a room yet."

"Oh okay...thank you."

Drew went and sat down.

Was May okay? Was there something seriously wrong?

After a little while a doctor came out.

"Excuse me,"

Drew looked up from the book.

"You're the young man that was asking about May Maple, correct?"

"Yes, sir. Is she okay?" Drew asked standing up.

"Yes, she's going to be okay. She had a mild cut on her head, but it has been stiched. She will be fine within a few days, she just needs to rest. You may go and see her now, if you want."

"Thank you, sir."

"Room twelve."

Drew nodded his head and headed towards the rooms.

He opened the door and went into May's room. She was laying on the bed with wires attached to her. Her forehead had a few visible stiches on it and looking closer Drew saw the rest in her hairline.

He pulled a chair up by the bed and sat down. He took May's hand and held it.

"I'm sorry, May. I'm glad you're okay. I'll be here when you wake up." He said kissing her hand.

Drew took his phone out and quickly typed a text to his friends: May's okay, still KO but fine. Keep you posted.

Drew awoke the next morning, slightly confused until everything came back. He raised his head up from where it was resting on his arms on May's bed. He looked at May and frowned, she was still unconscious.

He grabbed the book and opened it. He was nearly done with it since he had read most of the night. It was all he could do to keep calm, but it did nothing to soothe his nerves or his guilt.

Drew looked up at May and frowned. He marked his page and rolled his neck. He had been reading for far too long.

He saw that it was nearly lunch.

A soft noise came from May. Drew looked down at her and saw her eyes flutter. She opened her eyes and blinked a few times, before her eyes focused on Drew.

"My head hurts and my hair feels gross." May said going to push her hair back.

In the process she hit her stiches causing her to wince amd cry out in pain.

"What?"

"You hit your head yesterday and cut it. Younhave stiches on your forehead and into your hairline." Drew said, softly and took May's hand.

"Oh..."

"It's my fault. I'm the worst boyfriend ever. I should have been there, but I'm useless because of my damn leg. I could have been beside you and gotten you before you hit you head. I couldn't do anything..." Drew said, looking down.

"Drew, look at me." May said.

Drew refused to look up.

"Drew, I don't blame you. I know you couldn't do anything. I know you would have if you could. Drew, you did do something though." May said as she remembered something.

Drew scoffed. "The only thing I did was sit and watch, helpless to do anything."

"Drew, I heard you yell my name. You are the reason the others noticed I went under."

"No, Ash was still in the water. He heard your scream."

"Drew, please. Don't blame yourself. I don't blame you. I know you would have done everything you could have if you were able to."

Drew was still looking down, his body showing how he was feeling.

May reached over and forced Drew's head up.

"Drew, I love you so much. You've always been here for me. You give me confidence when I don't feel confident. You give me roses, which is something every girl dreams about getting one day, and I get them almost every day. You read to me when I can't sleep because I love hearing yoir voice when you read something you love, especially when you read poetry or anything old English. You've helped me become a better Coordinator. You make me laugh and you never judge me, considering how big my appetite is. You mean so much to me, Drew and these things are just a few reasons as to why I love you. I will never blame you for what happened, so stop feeling guilty. Okay? I love you." May said looking into Drew's eyes.

"I love you too, May." Drew said softly.

He leaned up and kissed May.

"Wow...those two are sneaky." Dan muttered.

"Those two are so cute." Dawn said.

Ash, Dan, Dawn, Gary, Leaf, and Rocky had left school early so they could visit May, but when they had arrived at her room they heard her talking to Drew.

May and Drew were dating.

"Shh...they're talking again." Leaf said, shushing her friends.

"We can't keep this a secret much longer, May. We need to tell the others." Drew said as he ran his thumb along May's hand.

"We can tell them in a week. We need to let this whole thing calm down before we tell them." May replied.

"Okay, in a week."

"I promise, Drew. In a week we'll tell them."

"I believe you, May."

"Well what do we do?" Ash asked.

"We leave it be for now. We'll confront them later." Gary said.

"Let's go see May now. Act like you heard nothing." Rocky said and pushed the door opened.

Drew was quick to drop May's hand once he realize who had walked in.

"Hey guys," May greeted.

"How you feeling?" Dawn asked.

"Better, a little pain in my head."

"We're just glad you're okay." Leaf said.

It had been a week and today was when May and Drew were going to,tell their friends. They had decided to tell their friends at lunch.

"So Drew when do you get your cast off?" Dawn asked.

"I don't even know. I'm going to have to go to physical therapy after I get my cast off. I'm probably going to be out for the rest of the season." Drew replied.

"That sucks..."

"Tell me about it." Drew muttered, looking down at his food.

May, who was sitting beside him, grabbed his hand underneath the table and squeezed his hand.

"We need to tell you guys something." Drew said.

The others shared a look.

"Wait...could we take a guess?" Rocky asked.

"Sure?"

"You two are dating." Leaf stated.

May started coughing, since she had choked on her drink mid swallow.

"We know it's true. We heard yall's conversation the day May woke up." Dawn explained.

"So when did you two get together?" Gary asked.

"During the summer." May replied.

"Well we're happy for you two. It's about time you got together." Dan said.

"Thanks,"

School had ended and the girl's were in their dorm. May was on her laptop.

May Maple Relationship status changed from "Single" to "In Relationship with Drew Rose"

"So May how did you and Drew get in a relationship?" Dawn asked.

"We got together after a contest we had both competed it. We had won and I was getting ready to leave when he said he had to talk to me. So we got together after that contest. He cheered me up that day." May answered as she closed her laptop.

So if anyone has any ideas of how Dan and Rocky's relationship could become know, let me know.

I don't think the next chapter will be too long of a wait.
