Chapter 2: Looking For You
Amu looked outside the window and saw children running around and adults walking with their shopping bags in tow. She smiled to herself. What a perfect day to go for a date... And I can't believe I'm finally meeting him! Amu squeals unable to contain her excitement. She looked around to see that everyone's attention was on her and that had confused looks on their faces. Amu apologized to everyone and they resumed their activity. She giggles at everyone's reaction when someone called her name. " Amu." She whips her head around to see him. Him that has midnight blue hair, ocean blue eyes and a v-shaped jawline, it was him!
She beams at him and he took his seat across her. They began sipping from the same smoothie. When they finished he calls her name again. " Amu." Amu sighs dreamily, " Say that again."
" Amu...?" He calls out again, but this time, his voice becomes higher pitched and his face starts morphing... Into something ugly... Something hideous... Into her homeroom teacher! " Ahh! Nikaidou-sensei!" Amu stumbles back and falls off her chair.
" Are you alright?" Nikaidou voice was full of concern.
" Y-yeah, I was just thinking of something..." Amu says, having snapped back to reality and was climbing back onto her chair.
" That's definitely not my lesson, pay attention." Nikaidou hits Amu's head with his rolled-up textbook, walking towards the front of the classroom.
"Hai... Itai..." Amu replies sourly as she rubs her head.
"Must be something disgusting," her table mate, Rima, whispers behind her textbook.
" No it isn't!" Amu hisses back.
" Must be, you kept sighing with lustful eyes." Rima points out.
" No, I was thinking of something decent!" Amu once again hisses in defence.
" Your definition of decent is more of the extreme." Rima counters back, stressing on the last word.
" It's was a date at a cafe! How was that indecent?" Amu raises her voice, catching everyone's attention. Amu looks around and her cheeks turns bright pink in embarrassment. " Done discussing your daydream cafe date Himamori?" Nikaidou stares at Amu.
Amu was about to say something but Nikaidou beat her to it. " Mai never mind, stay back after the lesson Himamor-"
The school bell rings.
"... Which is now. Okay class, you're dismissed." Nikaidou says as he closes his textbook.
The students stood up, bowed and greeted. After that, most of the boys rushed out of the classroom like a flood, some girls walked out with their bentos and others sat in the classroom and took out their bentos. " Ja ne Amu," Rima bids Amu as she walks away from the classroom with her bento box in tow.
" Mateeee Rima!" Amu desperately calls to Rima.
" Come on Amu-san," Nikaidou calls.
Amu could only sigh and she went outside the classroom. " So what cafe date Amu?" Nikaidou asks once she was at the rooftop, joining him and looking out at the view before the school.
" Nothing sensei!" Amu smiles so widely.
" Uh-huh, and getting so worked up over it," Nikaidou counters.
" No really! It's nothing! May I go now sensei?" Amu pleads.
" Sure, and we'll continue this after school then," he simply states as he started to walk away.
" Maahteeh Sensei! It was something, ha ha," Amu grabs Nikaidou's sleeves, laughs it off. He turns to face her, " Uh-huh,"
" I was thinking about a...boy," she says.
" At this common test period? You sure choose the wrong timing to be day dreaming," he mildly scolds her.
" Hai hai, but... I just can't help thinking that I'm the only one without a date on Valentine's day," Amu continues.
" Amu Himamori do-"
" Hinamori," Amu corrects.
" Amu Hinamori, doesn't have a boyfriend? That's a shocking," he mocks.
" Yeah yeah, the cool and spicy Amu Hinamori is supposed to have a boyfriend! But Oh! She doesn't have one! Why? Because she can't find one!"
" Don't be such a drama queen, you have a fan boy club!"
" No, that's Rima."
" But you do have a fan boy right?"
" Yeah but... He's just a small kid you know, not my type."
" Oh that one. But I was talking about the other one."
" Which other one?" Amu asks one eagerly.
" You know, the prince of the sch-"
" Tadase!" Amu says in shock.
" Oh yeah that kid, you're not going to ask him out?"
" Nah, he's... Taken."
" Ouch, burnnn. Please apply ice on wounded area," Nikaidou jokes.
" Hey! It wasn't that pathetic!" Amu defends herself.
" I can be your valentine," Nikaidou jokingly asks.
" Nah, you can't be my be my valentine, you're too old," Amu smiles sweetly at Nikaidou, jokingly rejects him.
" Ouch that hurt, where's the ice?" Nikaidou fakes a search for an ice cube, making Amu laugh.
" Ne sensei, how did you meet your girlfriend?"
" Hm... Online dating I guess?"
" Is it... Good?"
" Yeah, effective and efficie- Wait, are you doing what I think you're doing?" Nikaidou smirks.
" No no! Of course not! Ha ha ha!" Amu laughs it off.
" Oh well, you are pathetic on your search for a boyfriend... But I really don't recommend it, you may regret it," he warns.
" Why does everyone say I might regret it?"
" Because... you might meet one that you don't like. And besides, you're still a kid."
" Am Not!" Amu retorts back.
" You do sound like one! But on the second thought, maybe the cool and spicy Hinamori Amu can because you're... Very matured, almost old!" Nikaidou laughs.
" If I'm old, you must be ancient then! BURN!" Amu strikes back.
" Wow, getting two burns a day, must be my unlucky day eh?"
Just then the school bell rings.
" But might be my lucky day cause I don't need to get anymore! Good luck in finding your boyfriend Himamori!" Nikaidou laughs as he walks out of the rooftop.
" Hinamori! And really, my whole entire lunch break is used up! Seriously Nikaidou-sensei," Amu sighs and mutters, and heads back to class, stride past the stoned Nikaidou.
Nearly told her of my past experiences... She was quite indifferent when I briefly brought it up... Nikaidou thought to himself as his eyes trailed after her figure as it turned round the corner of the steps, proceeding down another flight of steps. Would it be different if I told her? Maybe not... Maybe yes... Niakidou laughed to himself and continued his way down, down the same route that Amu had taken.
The school bell rang for the very last time today at 6pm and Amu headed straight for home, not waiting for her friends this time. Once she reaches home, she washes up, takes her dinner, switches on her laptop, heads to the online dating website and just stares blankly at the web page. Should I be really doing this? I might regret it... But... What other choices do I have? Sure there maybe consequences but, it wouldn't hurt that bad... Right? And she began clicking away furiously on the keyboard.
~10 minutes later~
" I'm done!" Amu says proudly as she scrolls through her profile.

But there was an odd feeling churning in her stomach. I shouldn't be using that picture... The guy might think I'm a slut. And I shouldn't use my real name yet... The guy might be a bad guy and use my name for bad stuff right? ... I can't put it as 15, who wants to look for such a young girl? ... What kind of guy would want to date a shortie? We wouldn't be able to even kiss on the lips on a level ground... ' Anyone... That's decently nice', what am I thinking? It sounds weird! Gotta make these changes. And Amu once again begins clicking furiously away.

Mahteh... It just doesn't feel right... What is it... Is it the looking for?... Yes! It must be, I sound like I'm not interested. But I don't know what to put... What type of guy is my ideal kind of guy? Amu heads out of her room only to reappear minutes later with the Men magazine. She begins flipping through. They're hot with six packs! Cool slender figures! But... They're too old for me... Definitely not the kind of man I want. She discarded the magazine and reached out for the Women magazine that was on her shelf. She flipped. They're the same men... All with six pacs! What's with the world only targeting guys with six pacs? Amu discarded that magazine too. Who can I turn to...
...
I know! My friends! They know me well, so they should know what kind of guy I should like! Amu licked her lips and pat herself on the back for ingenuity while calling her friends. "Hey, what kind of guy is my type of guy?"
Utau: "Someone with a stuck up attitude like you; your would be a match made in heaven."
Rima: "... Someone cool..."
Yaya: " Amu's asking Yaya for help?! Yay~! Can't believe Amu would finally ask Yaya for help you know! Amu always seemed like the kind th-"
" Yaya, if you're not going to say what kind of guy is my type, I'm going to put down the phone..."
" Choutomate! Amu could wait longer for Yaya to finish Yaya's grand speech you know! Yaya's been planning this speech ever since I've met you!"
" Okay, go on," Amu smiles, knowing Yaya is pouting on the other end of the line.
" Okai, the kind of person taht Yaya thinks Amu would like the best is the kind that,"
...
"Yeah, go on,"
" That,"
...
" Yes," Amu sighs.
" That do-"
The line goes dead.
Amu pulls away from the phone and looks at the screen and she realises that her phone has no more battery. Dang it! She was just going to say it! Why phone why? Haiz, never mind, just gotta fill up with what I have.

Amu looks at it for the umpteenth time, this time satisfied, and creates her account. " Finally Done!" Amu proudly states, a yawn barely escaping her mouth. What time is it? She turns to face the clock and it dawned upon her that it was already 10pm! Time sure does flies when you're making an online dating account! She shuts down her laptop and tucks herself into her bed. She looks at the ceiling and was thinking of what happened. Online dating... Will it work? Will anyone find me attractive? Will they find me too young? Am I of a kissable height? Am I too childhish? Am I even specific enough?... Will I ever meet him...? Online dating... Please don't fail me, you're my last hope... As she kept repeating the questions and thoughts to herself, she soon enters into the land of dreams...
