Lullabies
Will was going insane. He wouldn't stop! He had tried everything, why wouldn't he stop?
So things make sense, he would have to go back a little bit. Earlier in the week, Monday to be exact, Nico had came up to him and told the good news: Reyna had invited the two of them to visit Camp Jupiter, to spent some time together. Although Reyna would be busy on the first day, they agreed to help around Camp, so later they could hang out.
The trip wasn't the best. Nico had shadow travelled them there, and since this time he was much stronger and not carrying a giant statue with him, it was much easier for Nico, but Will felt sick for most of the time. Shadow travelling really messed his stomach up.
When they got there, they were greeted warmly by Reyna and the roman demigods, and were invited to sleep in a special house for guests only. Since they were the only ones to go, since everyone else at Camp Half-Blood were busy, they were the only ones there, which was good, as Nico wasn't experienced on sharing rooms, so if he had to do it, at least it was with Will.
They woke up early the next day, and Reyna gave them their chores. Nico would help training the younger demigods, and Will was welcomed to help in their infirmary.
Now, Nico was known for being a great fighter, since he had already been there before, but it was Will's first time there, and even if he was known as the best healer in Camp Half-Blood, that reputation was worthless in Camp Jupiter, so they put him in charge of baby care.
Will spent an entire morning and afternoon taking care of children, when he could easily do a heart transplant with things you'd find in a kitchen. But since he was a guest, he didn't complain, and did what he was told to.
When it was almost the end of his shift though, a mother got in hurriedly with her twins, saying she needed someone to take care of her babies for a couple of hours, and handed the little boy and girl to Will, who looked around for someone to help, but everyone was gone as soon as the mother had gotten through those doors. Great.
Turns out Will can do a lot of stuff, but babysit twins isn't one of those things. He had only a pair of hands for those two, and it clearly wasn't enough. How some mothers did it, he had no idea.
He was in the middle of trying to change the little girl while the boy was trapped by a wall of pillows Will had managed to build, when the doors opened. Will turned around, hoping it was the twins' mother, but what he saw was almost as good: Nico.
Nico raised an eyebrow when he got in and saw Will on his own, trying and failing to take care of the two babies at the same time.
"Are you okay? Your shift was supposed to have ended and hour ago." Nico said, quickly catching the baby boy, who had almost fallen to the ground, managing to take down the pillow wall.
"Yeah, this lady got in two hours ago, telling me to take care of her twins, and she hasn't come back yet, although she was supposed to." Will explained, while finishing changing the baby girl. He picked her up and turned around, only to be completely blown away by the sight in front of him.
Nico was actually holding the baby boy in his arms, rocking him while singing what seemed to be and Italian lullaby, that had successfully made the baby fall asleep. When Nico looked up and saw Will's shocked expression, he walked up to him and picked the baby girl too, rocking her on his other arm. In a few minutes, they were both blissfully sleeping in Nico's arms, and the lullaby ended.
"How are you even doing that?" Will asked, whispering so the babies wouldn't wake up.
Nico just shrugged while he rocked the babies and smiled down at them. Will then realized how tired he was and how he could easily faint if he didn't lay down. He had done surgeries that were over twelve hours long, but taking care of children for a whole day was so much worse.
He sat down on a nearby couch and watched his boyfriend adoringly.
Nico then put both of the babies on the stroller the mother had brought in before and went to sit near Will on the couch. He smiled at his boyfriend's tiredness, stroked his blonde locks and kissed him on the forehead, pulling him, so he would rest his head on Nico's shoulder.
They silently talked about their day, until Nico felt Will getting tired, and sang him another Italian lullaby, which made Will pass out in seconds. Nico realized he would have to wake him up later, and drag him to the guests house, but at the moment, he couldn't dare to wake Will up from his peaceful sleep.
