So I forgot how to write, sorry. I hope this doesn't suck. Thank you for the reviews. Have fun.

The group of five got home got back to Neptune around 4. Hunter took A.J. around the house and showed A.J. his room. Logan Showed Nancy where her room was and placed her bag on the bed for her.

Half an hour later Logan, Veronica, and Nancy were sitting on the couch watching TV and making small talk when they heard fast pounding feet rushing towards them. A few seconds later Hunter and A.J. came to a screeching halt in front of them. The boys looked at the three adults with a series expression. Veronica eyed Hunter trying to figure out what they wanted. Right when she opened her mouth to speak Hunter said, more so shouted, we're hungry.

"Ok…What do you two want?" Logan asked startled. Hunter and A.J. faced each other and then turned back to the adults shrugging in response.

Logan turned to Nancy asking, "Are you hungry?"

"A little. I haven't been able to eat much these last few weeks."

"Do you have any food preferences?"

"No. Not really."

"Okay. So where should we go?"

"Hey aren't you going to ask me if I want anything in particular?" Veronica spoke up.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because you always want the same thing, Italian. I think it might be nice to try something new for a change."

"Hey there is nothing wrong with my food choices."

"Except for the fact that if you eat it everyday you'll have a shorter life."

"How do you even know that I want Italian tonight." Logan stared at her eyebrows raised in a challenge to prove him wrong. Veronica had two choices, admit that she wanted Italian or cut off her nose to spite her face.

Hunter spoke up, interrupting the staring contest saving Veronica from admitting defeat. "I want Italian and ice cream." Logan snapped his head towards Hunter and A.J. who were smiling from ear to ear, giving Veronica enough time to smirk and answer before Logan.

"Alright if that's what you both want. Go put your shoes on and we can go to Mama Leone's and then out for ice cream. If that's all right with you of course." She inquired turning to Nancy.

"It actually sounds pretty good."

Logan sat there defeated, agreeing with a nod. "We roll out in 5 minutes. So get moving. Go, go, go." Hunter and A.J. ran back towards the stairs, Logan chasing from behind. Once they were out of the room he walked back towards Veronica. "You paid him to do that didn't you?"

"When exactly would I have paid him? When were staring at each other or..."

"I don't know but somewhere along the way you two struck a deal."

"Sorry but no."

Dinner was fantastic everyone ate until they were full. It wasn't a happy experience necessarily but the group of five did enjoy themselves. Everyone laughed and told funny stories. The best part was getting ice cream after dinner and walking along the beach while eating it. The sun was just beginning to set, the breeze coming off the ocean water was just enough for them to need light jackets. Hunter and A.J. finished their dessert quickly and started racing each other down the beach. Veronica made them turn around and start running in the other direction after about 20 minutes so that they didn't stray too far from the car.

The second Hunter and A.J. get settled in very back of the SUV they were asleep Veronica rode in the row in front of them leaving the very front for Nancy and Logan. When Logan pulled into the garage veronica tried to wake the boys, to no avail. They were both out for the night. Logan walked around to the back hatch and pulled them both out that way because there was more room.

With both boys in his arms, he carefully walked into the house and up the stairs to put them to bed. He changed Hunter and A.J. into his PJ's and tucked them in. Nancy walked in quietly to say good night to her blissfully sleeping son just as Logan left.

Logan, Veronica, and Nancy changed into more comfortable clothing and then watched TV for a few hours. Around 11 o'clock Nancy decided to turn in and headed to the guest bedroom. About half an hour later Veronica and Logan did the same.

The next morning Veronica sat on the beach talking with Nancy while Logan was with Hunter, A.J. and Dick and two surfboards. Their conversation was more or less trivial, recent events in the news, the weather, interests; normal get to know you better topics.

"You're lucky. Logan is really great with the kids. A.J. always loved it when Alex brought him by." Nancy commented.

"Yeah he's pretty great." Veronica grew quiet smiling as Logan lifted Hunter above his head and Hunter threw his arms out as if they were wings and he was flying. "I honestly didn't know how either one of us would be as parents. His parents were no good, my mom ran out, but my dad… he's pretty great. My mom seemed to get herself sorted out and that's great for Hunter but to me, well she'll never be much to me. I just wish she could be here for Hunter right now. He doesn't understand completely why she isn't but he doesn't say much about it. I think we both just needed to grow up and find out who we were without each other. I don't know about him, but I definitely was not in a good place before I came back here to help him." Veronica didn't know why she was telling Nancy all of this. There were only three people, not including her dad, that she talked this openly with, Logan, Mac and Wallace. But for some unexplainable reason she felt both Nancy and herself needed it.

"Logan never talked much about growing up, so everything I knew, before meeting him, came from tabloids. The one thing he consistently talked about was you. I knew the day A.J. was born that he would be a great father if and when the right women came along. He was at the hospital all night. Hell, about a week before A.J. came he practically moved in with us. But that night he made sure Alex ate and helped him stay calm. I know Logan's the one that went to get me the popsicles Alex forgot. He was the third person to hold A.J. the next morning. It amazed me how gentle he was. By then I knew he was a good guy with a dark past, but I had never seen him that happy, ever. And I've only seen him that happy one other time, tight now with you."

"Thanks. I know we just met but if you or A.J. need anything please let us know. And I mean anything. I can't imagine what you're going through right now, but we're all here for you."

"Thank you. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of each other in the future. I'm pretty sure my son has made a new best friend." She said watching the four boys chase after each other on the beach and into the water. They began splashing each other when Logan looked up with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He whispered something to the boys and Dick and the next thing Veronica and Nancy knew they were being tackled by two dripping wet six year olds.

After getting Hunter and A.J. off of them they chased the boys back to the water. An hour later Logan, Veronica, Dick, Nancy, Hunter, and A.J. were sitting on the beach drying off and enjoying the sunshine.

That night everyone was in bed early because they all had to be up early. Nancy and A.J. were going back to the base the same time as Logan so that A.J. could go to school. Veronica had to be at work early and Hunter had school.

Hunter was not excited for school but he went without complaining. That should have set off an alarm in Veronica; they never got through a morning without him complaining about school at least once.

Veronica walked into Mars Investigations ready for a day of paperwork and stakeouts just like normal.

Logan Drove onto base ready for the day ahead of him. Traffic was uncharacteristically light and he got to base 30 minutes earlier than usual, allowing him to walk around the base for a while. The weather was perfect for flying and he couldn't wait to get started. His morning was filled with debriefings preparing him for todays training exercises. Around 1:30 Logan was walking towards his F/A-18E/F Super Hornet with his wingman next to him. He circled his jet looking over like he did every time before he flew. As he started to climb the latter and enter the cockpit he started his usual banter with the boatswain mate going over the final checks on the plane. Logan looked back down the ladder and noticed for the first time that it was a different boatswain mate. He didn't think much of it and continued climbing into the cockpit ready to fly.

Soon Logan was 50,000 feet in the air cruising near Mach 1 approaching alpha point in the training mission.

"Approaching alpha point. Prepare to engage." Logan spoke, through the headset. As the plane descended to 20,00 feet.

"You got it Moneybags lets go kick some ass. " His WSO responded.

"How're we looking so far Nike?"

"Clear skies, sun's shinning, smell of jet fuel. Lookin' pretty good to me. Oh yeah systems fully operational too. So there's that Moneybags."

"Thanks Nike. Always there to lighten the mood."

"My mom always told me if the military didn't work out I could be a comedian."

"Stick with your day jo-" Logan's speech was interrupted by a loud bang. His right engine went out. "Nike what happened? What's going on? Do you see anything?" He shouted through the COM.

"I don't know all screens look clear."

"Well it obviously wasn't." Logan was struggling to get control of the plane. Suddenly the left engine died as well. The plane started spiraling. 15,000 feet. 10,000 feet. 9,000 feet. His WSO was yelling in his ear. "We need to eject. Get ready." Logan pulled the ejection cord. The cover popped off, Nike's seat was ejected first and then Logan was free. Logan hit his head pretty hard upon ejection and he could feel the blood running into his eye. But they both made it to the water safely. Not long after touchdown emergency crews were pulling them out of the water and transporting them back to San Diego.

Around 11:30 Mars Investigations got a call from someone asking for Veronica. After talking on the phone and writing down the information Veronica hung up.

"Who was that honey?" Keith asked looking over from his desk. A friend of Logan's from the Navy asking if I would come to San Diego and consider taking his and a few others cases. They want me to investigate but they also want me to represent them in trial. If it goes that far."

"That's great. Your first gig as an actual lawyer."

"It is. Ok, I have to leave. Um, would you mind picking up Hunter today."

"Nope. Go work."

"Alright, alright. Thanks I'll see you later."

"Bye."

Veronica started the hour and a half drive to San Diego. She thought about surprising Logan for lunch if he had the time. The radio was boring so instead she started thinking about everything that's happened since her return to Neptune. She was really happy. She and Logan were good. They were both doing what they wanted to do. This was the first time she will get to use her skills as a lawyer since she found out she passed in July.

It was the longest two days she's ever been through. She just finished taking a two-day test that determined if she will be accepted into the California State Bar or not. While she was testing Logan and Hunter moved everything into the new beach house. She made up an excuse to tell her dad why she wouldn't be around for those two days. She didn't want him to know anything incase she didn't pass.

That night everyone was exhausted. They just finished dinner, Chinese takeout, and Hunter, Logan, and Veronica were sitting in front of the TV watching a silly kids movie that Hunter picked. Before sitting down Veronica grabbed her laptop. She was waiting, rather impatiently, for six o'clock to finally come so she could see if she passed or failed. At 5:59 she opened her laptop and logged into her profile. She opened up Google chrome and entered the address for the website. She entered the necessary information and waited while the page loaded, which in her opinion took forever. When the results popped up she snapped her eyes close.

Logan had been watching her and chuckled at her reaction. He looked at the screen for her. After reading what was on the page he leaned over and whispered in her ear, "The only way your gonna know how you did id if you look."

"Will you still want to marry me if I failed."

"Yes. Now look."

She opened her eyes and quickly scanned the page for any indication of the results. Logan saw the moment she found what she was looking for because her eyes stopped moving. He waited for her to react before he said anything else. The second she understood what the results meant the biggest smile overtook her face. She turned to Logan and saw that his smile was just as big as hers. "I passed."

"I know." He leaned in to give her a congratulatory kiss. They both expected to hear commentary from Hunter and they looked to him to find him fast asleep on the floor.

"I have to go call my dad and tell him I'll be right back."

"I'll be here watching… this."

"Love you."

"Love you too."

Veronica came out of her reverie as she pulled up to the gate separating her from the San Diego Naval Base. She pulled out her ID and the guard waved her on.
