Ritual

Finn screamed into the gag around his head. Marceline screamed, staring at him pleadingly, eyes filled with tears and fear. Around her stood five people in black suits who had broken into Marceline's house as they were watching movies, knocking both out with chloroform. One of them was holding a strange knife and another a book. They were chanting something as the one with the book read from it.

Suddnely, a strange circle below Marceline began to glow purple. Marceline went rigid, floating into the air. Finn shouted in desperation, trying to break free. The one with the knife raised it, point down and Finn screamed, trying to beg them to stop. Then, they stabbed her. She screamed, the alleyway bouncing it back, making it deafening. The person dragged the knife downward several inches, making Marceline scream again. Then, the light faded and Marceline floated to the ground, blood pooling under her.

The person with the sknife walked over to Finn as one of the others injected something into his arm. The person that had injected him untied him and removed the gag, Finn finding himself unable to move as his head clouded over. He was placed on his back beside Marceline, head rolling toward her, seeing her stair at him, tears of pain, fear, confusion, and grief flooding out of her eyes. Then, her eyes dulled as something was placed in Finn's hand. His addled brain was unable to tell what it was. Just as he began to lose consciousness, red and blue lights began to flash in the alleyway.

Finn opened his eyes, looking around frantically. He was in the same alleyway. The one where Marceline had been murdered. The one his feet had carried him to. He was again bound and gagged. There were again five people standing around a circle, all in black robes. Two had blood taining the front where he had kicked them, one had a bloody hand wrapped in bandages, and a bloody leg that they were favoring, and one of the ones with a broken nose hand a bandaged forearm. Finn was proud he had done damage, but he had hoped he'd kill them. He looked to the circle and his eyes widened.

Bonnie! Finn thought. She was unconscious, lying in the circle.

One of the cloaked people drew the same curved knife and another pulled out the book Finn had seen at his house. Finn began rubbing his head against his shoulder, forcing the gag down.

"So, you're in on this too, huh Bitch?" Finn spat.

The one with the knife turned, the moonlight illuminating their face and revealing his mother.

"I'm in charge," she stated. "Now be a good boy and shut the fuck up."

She pointed at him and the gag shot back up, forcing itself into his mouth, silencing him. Then, she turned back to Bonnie and nodded. The one with the book began to read.

"Oh Great One," the person read, Finn recognizing Simon Petrikov's voice. "Oh great Lord of Darkness and Shadow. Grant us your power. Bless us with the gifts of shadow."

"In the name of the Almighty, so let it be," the others all said.

"Oh sacrifice," the Simon read. "Oh vessel of blood and flesh, frail and weak, give rise to our lord. In your blood, we wash away our sins."

"In the name of the Almighty, so let it be," the others chanted.

The circle glowed and Bonnie rose into the air. Finn, who was thrashing against the ropes froze. His mother drove the knife downward into Bonnie's abdomen, Bonnie waking and screaming. Finn began to thrash again, trying to break free. Finn's mother dragged the knife downward, splitting Bonnie wide open, blood spraying out. Then, the light faded and Bonnie floated to the ground.

The cultists looked atound at each other before Finn's mother sighed, pointing at Finn, the gag being removed from his mouth. Then, she knelt in front of him, looking down at him as though he were a child and she were explaining simple matters.

"It would appear you's going to have to be sacrificed as well," she stated. "It's a shame. We were going to have you take the fall again but, it would seem we need just a tad more blood."

"Why?" Finn asked, tears staining his face. "Why are you doing this you crazy bitch!?"

She slapped him, knocking him onto his side, making him land on a piece of broken glass the cultists hadn't noticed. He picked it up, beginning to saw at his ropes.

"For power," she stated. "For our Lord. He wants us to sacrifice in his name and will reward us for it. You already got a taste of what we can do. And telekinesis is only the beginning. There is so much more."

"But why Marceline?" Finn asked. "Why Bonnie? Why frame me?"

"Because I hated that insufferable little bitch," she stated. "She was trying to take my baby away, trying to corrupt you. When you were with her, you happily worshipped that poor excuse for a Holy Father. So, she had to go. And who else could we pin it on when you saw what we were doing? As for this bitch..." she jabbed her thimb at Bonnie. "...she found out too much. She was getting too close to figuring us out. So she had to disappear."

Finn glared at her.

"Don't give me that look," she growled. "It's your fault for dragging her into this."

Finn finished with his ropes, and then grinned.

"What's so funny?" she demanded.

"You wasted your time," Finn laughed.

"Why?" She growled.

"Because you're going to die here," Finn stated.

Before she could react, he sat up, driving the piece of glass into the side of her neck, hitting her carotid artery then ripped it back out, allowing blood to spray out. He grabbed the knife, cutting his legs free then rolled to the side as a piece of metal with wires attached to it sailed through where he had been, hitting his mother and making her spasm.

"Shit!" Mitch's voice swore. "Nice job Blaze."

Finn stood, turning toward the others as one of their fists collided with his jaw. He staggered back and one of them leapt at him, tackling him. As they did, Daniel drove the knife into the person's heart. Their hood fell, revealing Cody and Finn shoved him off the knife, rolling out of the way of a stomp from Mitch. He stood as Blaze grabbed him from behind and lifted him. Finn brought his foot back, hitting Blaze between the legs and freeing himself. Then, he spun, slashing Blaze's throat. Mitch grabbed him and Finn twisted around, moving to stab him but Mitch caught his arm, holding it up.

Finn kneed Mitch and Mitch stepped sideways, runting in pain and allowing the knife to fall past him. Finn tried to stab upward at Mitch's stomach and Mitch caught it. Suddenly there was a loud crack and Mitch shouted in pain as a chunk of his leg was blasted off and Finn drove the knife into his stomach instantly. Finn turned, hurling the knife as two more cracks went off. Pain errupted from his chest and he looked down at two holes in his abdomen where blood was flooding out quickly. He looked back up as Simon fell, his pistol falling to the ground. Simon had been moving for the first shot, resulting in it hitting Mitch's leg.

Finn held a hand to his wounds and turned, staggering out of the alley and down the street, feet moving on their own again, mind clouded by pain and exhaustion and bloodloss. Eventually he entered a cemetary, making his way through it. Finally, he collapsed in front of a tombstone with a stone angel sitting on top. He looked up and saw Marceline's name carved into the tombstone.

"Hey Marceline," Finn smiled, body so weak he barely felt the gunshot wounds in his stomach. "I did it. I stopped them. Guess it's over huh? I can...rest now. See you, Marcie. Whether in Ooo, or in the Afterlife. I'll see you soon."

He smiled, setting his head down and closed his eyes, feeling sleep take him.
