Disclaimer: I do not own any character you happen to recognize.
A/N: I know, I know, please don't hate me! I definitely forgot about this story! As soon as I remembered, I got right on updating! And, the fact that I'm watching my fav episodes of GG definitely helped. Okay, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
"A…a baby?" Jess repeated.
Rory nodded, still looking at the ground.
Jess blinked. "Like what Aaron and Emma used to be?"
"Yes," Rory mumbled. "I'm sorry."
Jess swopped Rory up bridal style and kissed her on the lips. Rory, not expecting this, gasped and took a minute to process what was happening. When she did, she pulled away.
"Jess, what's going on?" Rory asked.
Jess had a huge smile on his face. "I'm excited! I thought that much would be clear."
"You're excited?" Rory repeated. "You're happy?"
"Of course!" Jess exclaimed. "Why wouldn't I be? You're having my baby!"
"But, we're not prepared!" Rory cried. "This wasn't in the plans, I was never going to have kids! I wasn't supposed to get pregnant before we were even married!"
Jess shook his head, reconnecting her feet with the ground, but pulling her into his arms. "It doesn't matter! We can just—what do you mean before we were even married?"
Rory sighed. "Remember the night at Grandma's when…"
"No need to relive that," Jess cut in. "I remember."
"Well, remember when I asked you to make me forget?" Rory asked again.
"We forgot something else?" Jess surmised.
"Not only that, but I had stopped taking my birth control," Rory revealed. "It wasn't on purpose. I had forgotten to order it and when I called, they told me the prescription had to be renewed and I didn't have time to go to the gynecologist with everything that was going on. I was going to tell you, but there was never really a time to bring it up, and that night…I just wasn't thinking of anything. I'm sorry."
"Would you stop apologizing?" Jess requested. "This is a very good thing."
"Are you sure?" Rory questioned, not completely believing him.
"Of course!" Jess insisted. "Are you okay with it?"
Rory cocked her head. "I'm slowly warming up to the idea, as long as I don't have to think about the delivery just yet."
"Have you told..."
"Not yet," Rory told him, answering his unasked question about the grandparents.
"And, we're certain your grandmother can do math?" Jess asked, getting a little nervous. "She'll kill me!"
"She will not," Rory assured him. "She only had a problem with Mom and Chris because they weren't getting married, they weren't engaged, and Mom refused to marry him."
Jess didn't look convinced.
"Mom's working on this huge lie that we're going to tell Grandma," Rory told Jess. "She's got it all figured out. Grandma won't figure out the baby wasn't a honeymoon baby…ever, if Mom and I can help it. The lie is foolproof."
"When it comes to your grandmother and your mom, none of her lies are foolproof," Jess reminded Rory.
Rory actually laughed out loud. "That's exactly what I said! If it makes you feel any better…Grandma hasn't accepted you yet. She didn't totally accept Luke until Emma and Aaron, so this might actually help."
"Maybe she won't think about the actual time line," Jess speculated.
Rory smiled. "That's what we're hoping."
Rory called Lorelai and tried to decide where they were going to meet later. Rory could hear Emma and Aaron in the background and knew it was going to be a while. Lorelai told Rory it would be an hour at the very earliest. Rory and Jess made sure it was time well spent.

"Did you tell him, Rory?" Emma asked her sister as soon as she saw her.
"Can't you tell, sis?" Aaron asked Emma. "She's smiling. She hasn't really smiled since she found out."
"True. She was too scared," Emma agreed. She cocked her head. "He didn't kill you, Rory."
Rory squeezed her eyes shut. Lorelai put her head gently on Emma's head. "You used to have so much tact, hon. What happened?"
Aaron answered for his sister. "Oh, she still has it. She's just trying to embarrass Rory."
"I am not!" Emma cried in indignation. "I'm just making sure Jess knows everything he's missed."
Lorelai rolled her eyes and Aaron had to copy.
Jess looked at Rory intently. "You thought I was going to kill you? You were scared?"
Rory sighed. "Jess, you know me. I wasn't planning on having kids and I live for plans. Any big decision I have, I make lists. This child crept up on me unexpectedly. I didn't even have time to make a pro/con list!"
Lorelai laughed. "Maybe you should've made one anyway. It might've made you easier to handle the past few days."
"Okay, okay," Rory grumbled. "You have all thoroughly exhausted your freedom of speech privileges. Let's go to dinner."
"We're just showing you how wrong you were," Lorelai told her daughter while laughing. "And gloating at how right we were. We tried to convince you it would be fine."
Jess took his Rory's hand in his. "It is fine." She leaned in to kiss him and they got lost in each other for a few seconds.
They broke apart when they heard Aaron fake gagging in front of them.
"Really, Aaron!" Emma scolded.
"I'm with him," Lorelai told Emma.
"Mom!" Emma exclaimed. "How can you say that? Especially with the way you and Dad carry on."
Lorelai's cheeks got red while the other four enjoyed a laugh at her expense.
"Oh, Mom," Rory said shaking her head. "Teaching these things to your daughter. I'm so disappointed in you."
"Didn't you want to go to dinner?" Lorelai asked trying hard to change the subject.
Rory laughed and decided to let her mom off the hook. She looked at everyone else and they were all nodding. "Well, it seems we've reached a general consensus. Let's go!"

The next morning, Jess and Rory were on their own for the day while Lorelai, Emma and Aaron did some sightseeing. Jess had told Rory to go with them, since he had a class in the morning. Rory, though, was still experiencing bouts of morning sickness and didn't want to be with the three in case another one announced itself.
Rory was feeling fine when Jess went in the bathroom to take a shower and she looked around the room. She smiled when she saw a coffee maker and she quickly got up to make herself a cup.
She had just poured some coffee into a mug and was trying to decide how many cups she should be allowed to drink, since she didn't get Luke's coffee today when Jess came out of the bathroom. "What are you doing?"
Rory was so shocked, she dropped her mug of coffee and jumped. She narrowed her eyes at him. "You just made me drop my coffee!"
"Good," Jess said decidedly. "You shouldn't be drinking any caffeine. Besides, yesterday when I asked you if you wanted some you said no."
"That's because I'd already had two cups," Rory told him.
"Two cups!" Jess exclaimed. "Where?"
"I made one at home and got one at Luke's," Rory explained. "That's the deal I've made with myself and with Dad."
"He's giving you coffee?" Jess asked. "I'll kill him!"
Rory rolled her eyes. "You will not. He couldn't very well refuse me. My hormones kicked in at exactly the wrong time. Of course, if you try to refuse me, my hormones will probably kick in again. I might hit you, but I'll probably cry. That's what happened last time. I'll be so terribly upset because I can't drink coffee. Of course, getting upset can't be good for me or the baby and if I get too upset…"
"Rory," Jess interrupted her. "Just drink the coffee."
A smile lit up Rory's face and she kissed him on the cheek. "I love you."
Jess sighed in defeat. "Good to know. But you still only get two cups! Luke's coffee or not."
Rory smiled at his mind reading when it came to her, but she quickly agreed. "Deal!"
Kind of short after making you wait for so long. Sorry. But, the next chapter is rather long and is my favorite, so I decided to wait for that one. Again, it may be months before you see it, but we'll hope not. If you're still with me I'd appreciate a review? Thanks for reading!
