A/N: So, it's been ages and ages since I've updated this story. You probably don't even remember what's going on! If you don't, I'm so sorry! I don't know what made me stop updating, but I did. I felt bad for leaving a story unfinished, so we'll see if I can get this one finished! Enjoy!

Jess had a break from his training for three hours at noon. He and Rory decided to grab lunch together, because Rory would be leaving at two.

Rory was sipping her Sprite when she decided to broach a subject with Jess. "Can we discuss names?"

Jess couldn't help it, he had to smile. He thought that would be an interesting discussion. "Sure. What do you think it will be?"

"I have no idea," Rory honestly told him. "Mom always told me that pregnant women have some type of feeling, but I don't have it."

"Well, what do you want?" Jess amended.

Rory tilted her head. "Would it be terribly cliché for me to say I didn't care, as long as it's healthy?"

"Yes," Jess bluntly said.

Rory rolled her eyes. "Before Aaron and Emma I would've said I knew nothing about little boys, but Aaron has taught me a lot. Naturally, I probably know a bit more about little girls, but a little boy would be fine with me too. If this delivery isn't terrible, I might begin to think about having another kid. It might be nice to have one of each."

Jess smiled again. "Well, I never thought I'd hear you say that."

Rory laughed. "I never thought I'd say that! Don't get too excited though, we'll have to see how this delivery goes first."

"So, let's say it's a boy," Jess speculated. "Name ideas?"

"Well, I was thinking it might be kind of sweet to give him the middle name of Lucas, you know, after Dad," Rory said.

Jess raised his eyebrows. "After Luke?" Jess wasn't objecting, he was just questioning.

Rory shrugged. "Well, if it wasn't for him, we probably would've never met, started dating…and then started dating again. Besides, he's done so much for me over the years. He's kept me in coffee, he fixed up the Crap Shack so much and if he hadn't done that we wouldn't have a house! He's also a wonderful dad; he's certainly better than Chris ever was. And don't forget what he's done for you! He took you in back when you were a crazy teenager and tamed you. I know for a fact you wouldn't be the man you are today if it weren't for him."

Jess had to laugh, thinking about the time Lorelai preached Luke's amazing qualities to him. "All that, and you don't want to give our possible boy the first name of Luke?"

Rory thought about that for a minute. "I just think that might be weird. You know how much time our kid is going to spend at Mom's house and it would get confusing."

"Valid point," Jess agreed. "So, if our child is a boy we'll give him the middle name of Lucas?"

"For sure?" Rory asked.

"For sure," Jess confirmed. "I'm just taking a guess here, but I'll bet you don't want to give him the first name of Richard."

"Grandpa should be okay if the baby isn't named after him," Rory decided. "Besides, he'll just be glad to have a great grandson."

"So what about a first name?" Jess questioned.

Rory thought about it while the waitress brought out their salads. She stabbed a piece of lettuce and chewed thoughtfully. "What about Thomas?"

Jess wrinkled his nose. "Thomas Lucas?"

Rory rolled her lips together thinking. "I see your point."

"What about Jonathan?" Jess asked. "Jonathan Lucas does have a certain ring to it."

"Jonathan Lucas Mariano," Rory tried out. "I like it."

"So, first boy name, Jonathan Lucas," Jess stated. "Any other boy names that you like?"

Rory bit her lip. "Is it bad if I say no? I just really want to give our boy the middle name of Lucas and I'm not sure I can think of any other first names that I like right now."

"Well, we don't need to have all the names we want laid out right now," Jess pointed out. "I'm sure we'll think of more."

"True," Rory agreed. "Now about girls…maybe we should consider giving our girl the middle name of Emily."

"Soften the blow of getting pregnant out of wedlock?" Jess teased.

Rory giggled. "Not necessarily. Besides, I have three suggestions for girl's names. Emily would only be one suggestion for a middle name. Caroline Emily."

Jess took a drink of his water thinking about this. While he was thinking, the waitress came and brought their entrees. "I honestly like Emily Caroline better, but I know you would only want Emily to be a middle name."

"Emily Caroline does sound better," Rory conceded. "But I do only want Emily to be a middle name. I really can't think of any names that could go with Emily though. Emily is usually a first name."

"Well, why don't we just reserve Emily as a possible middle name," Jess suggested. "We can think of a first name later if that's what we want to name the girl."

Rory nodded slowly. "Good idea. Another one could be Adelaide Victoria."

Jess burst out laughing.

Rory wrinkled her forehead. "I certainly hope you're not laughing at my name choice!"

Jess shook his head. "It just sounds so much like you! Adelaide is such a literary name, it doesn't surprise me at all that you'd pick that. And, of course, you had to stick an honorable mention of Lorelai in there."

Rory smiled. "Of course. And I like Adelaide! I didn't get it specifically from a book in case you were interested."

"I like it too," Jess told her. "I didn't say I didn't like it, just that it sounded like something you would pick. Does one of these girl names you've picked have your middle name?"

Rory shook her head vehemently. "I hate my middle name! I am not giving my daughter a name that sounds like it should be for a boy and is spelled weird."

Jess chuckled. "Alright then. What is your last proposition for our possible daughter?"

"I actually think this one is my favorite," Rory revealed. "Amanda Lane."

Jess smiled trying out the name in his head. He decided to try it out loud. "Amanda Lane Mariano. It really is pretty."

Rory smiled brightly. "I love it. But, what about you? Don't you have any suggestions for our possible girl?"

Jess sighed and thought about it. "Honestly, no. I like all of your ideas really well. And I agree, Amanda Lane is probably the prettiest."

"So, Jonathan Lucas and Amanda Lane?" Rory inquired. "As of right now?"

"Why are you so anxious to get these names picked out?" Jess asked smiling. "You're still in your first trimester. Are you planning to get things monogrammed?"

Rory rolled her eyes, knowing he was teasing. She injected sarcasm into her voice. "Oh yes, because you know I just love monogrammed stuff."

Jess chortled. "Why then?"

Rory shrugged. "I don't know. I just feel like it's one less thing I have to worry about. There's really so much that has to be done!"

Jess was confused. "Like what?"

Rory sighed. "Like what? I have to call the grandparents and try to keep them from figuring out the date of the conception of this child! I have to go to appointments every month and worry about if this child is okay. I have to decide which room I can clean out to make into a nursery, because I don't want the baby to sleep in my old room while it's so young. It's a good thing Mom and Dad added on some extra rooms before they moved into the Twickham House! I still have to work for the paper as long as I can because we are going to need as much money as possible when we have this baby. I probably won't get very good articles though because I'm pregnant and can't travel as much as the other reporters can, so I'll be making less. And, the most problematic of all…I have to decide if I want Chris to know about this baby and if or when he does find out what I'm going to tell him!

"You do realize this is why we weren't supposed to have a baby yet. We are in no way prepared and babies cost so much money! We're going to have to scrimp and save every penny we can, before and after this child is born!" Rory finished.

Jess reached over and put his hand on hers trying to calm her down. "Rory, relax, breath. We'll be fine. I realize babies cost a lot of money, but it won't be a huge problem. Do you know how much Stars Hollow is going to get involved in the birth of this baby. I promise the baby will have enough clothes and playthings to last for a long while. Lorelai and Luke aren't exactly just going to stand by and do nothing either."

Rory brought her hands up to press on her temples. "I am excited about this baby, I really am. I would just be so much more excited if there wasn't so much to worry about…or if I didn't actually have to go through the delivery process."

Jess tried hard to keep his laugh from escaping, knowing Rory wouldn't appreciate it right now. "Don't worry about it all at once. Just take it one day at a time. I'll be home in two weeks and you can call the grandparents then. We'll decide what to do about a nursery and Chris later. As for the paper, you know they'll be understanding and you'll still get good articles, just not a lot of traveling ones. As for the delivery process—I'm sorry, honey—but you can't really escape that."

Rory sighed again. "I know you have to be here and I know this is going to help you get a much better job at Yale than what you would get if you weren't here."

"But," Jess prompted, kind of already knowing where this was going.

"But, I wish you were coming home with me today," Rory confessed in a small voice.

Jess took her hand in his again and squeezed. "I wish I was too. But just think, two weeks isn't that long."

"It's fourteen days!" Rory pointed out.

"Two weeks," Jess countered. "Two weeks sounds like a shorter time."

Rory nodded, trying to keep her sudden urge to cry at bay. "Two weeks."

As hard as she tried though, tears came to her eyes. "Damn hormones," Rory grumbled.

Jess glanced at his watch. He sighed noticing it was 1:30. There really wasn't time for them to do much more of anything, Lorelai was coming to Jess' dorm to pick Rory up in thirty minutes. He signaled for the check.

After he paid the check, he stood up and tugged on Rory's hand. "Come on, let's go explore Harvard's campus."

"But Mom's going to pick me up at your dorm in a few minutes," Rory protested.

"Twenty-three minutes to be exact," Jess corrected. "We can take a quick exploration on the way to my dorm."

Rory agreed and they began to walk around Harvard's campus. He pointed inconsequential things out to her, even though she already knew everything there was to know about Harvard. Rory also knew that Jess was aware that she knew everything he was pointing out, but he kept talking and kept pointing things out. She knew he was trying to keep her mind off of leaving and she appreciated it. She just listened to his voice and tried not to think about the shrinking time they had together. Rory also knew leaving wasn't that big of a deal, but her hormones were acting up today and they were making her sadder than she should be on an occasion like this.

When they reached his dorm they went to his room. Rory had to get her stuff and they still had five minutes to spare.

"Rory," Jess said when they entered his room. "It's only two weeks. I promise the time will fly by."

Rory shook her head. "Don't make promises like that. It won't fly by for me."

Jess took her into his arms. "I wish there was something I could do."

Rory laid her head on his shoulder and relaxed against him. "I wish there was too, but we both know there isn't."

"Damn training," Jess said angrily. "They couldn't have had this at Yale, where I'm actually teaching!"

Rory pulled back. "Jess, don't worry about it. I know two weeks won't be that bad, it's just my hormones acting up making me an emotional mess."

Jess stroked his knuckles down her face, catching a tear or two on their way. "I still wish I could be there for you."

Rory nodded. "I do too, but it's fine. You will be there for plenty of crying and raving in the next seven months. Not to mention the crazy cravings and swollen ankles and stuff."

Rory's phone buzzed with a text and she knew without looking that it would be her Mom. She quickly answered with a Be down in a minute and looked at Jess again. "I have to go."

Jess nodded. "I know."

"I'm going to miss you," Rory told him, determined not to cry again.

Jess wiped the few remaining tears off her cheeks. "Two weeks, Rory. That's all."

Rory nodded. "Two weeks."

Jess cupped her cheek. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Rory said.

Jess pulled her toward him and kissed her deeply. He requested entrance into her mouth and she gladly gave it. He caressed her tongue with his and tried to pour all his emotions into the kiss.

Rory groaned into his mouth when her phone buzzed again. She pulled away. "I really do have to go." She kissed him again. She summoned all her willpower and pulled away when he tried to deepen it. "Bye."

He wanted to insist that he would walk her down, but he knew that would make it harder for her. "I'll see you soon. Bye, Rory."

Rory rushed to the door and shut it behind her without looking back. She wanted him to offer to walk her down, but she knew that wouldn't be smart for either of them, because it would be just as hard to say goodbye.

When she got outside, she chanced one last look up in the direction of his room. She saw him standing at the window and she gave him a small smile before she climbed into Lorelai's waiting car.

"You took forever up there, Rory," Aaron complained as soon as they started driving.

"Sorry, kid," Rory apologized. "I tried to be quick."

Emma shook her head. "Give her a break, Aaron. She was saying bye to Jess. You know she won't see him again for two whole weeks!"

Rory squeezed her eyes shut hearing Emma say that out loud.

Lorelai looked over at her daughter and instinctively knew what was going through her mind. Also, knowing that her daughter was hormonal, she knew this couldn't be easy for her in any way. Lorelai took one hand off the steering wheel and laid it over her daughter's hand.

Rory sighed and looked at her mom thankfully. Lorelai always knew just what she needed. Rory knew she could survive these two weeks. Sure, she would miss Jess, but she would have plenty to do.

Rory made a decision right then and there. She was going to stop giving these hormones control of her life. Granted, she couldn't stop them from giving her headaches or gaining weight or any physical aspects, but she was going to ignore them in every way possible in the emotional aspect. She would not let hormones run her life for the next seven months! And that was that!

It may take forever for me to update again (we'll hope it won't), but I'm not one to leave something unfinished. Especially since I have this whole story written. I just haven't been watching Gilmore Girls that much lately. I promise though, eventually, this will be finished. We still have a bit to go though. Please drop me a review if you're still with me and thanks for reading!
