A/N: Okay, before we get to the story I have to say a few things. First off, if you don't like my story and would like to tell me, that's fine! But, please leave your name so I can PM you and apologize, so I don't have to do it publicly and have a humongous authors note with stuff that other people don't care about. Secondly, I'm going to publicly apologize. I should've said this in the last chapter and because I didn't, I paid for it. I have never had a child (I don't plan to), never been in a room before or during a childbirth and obviously don't know much about it. Someone pointed that out from the last chapter and if it peeved, annoyed or made you outright angry that I got some things wrong, I am really sorry! I didn't really research it because Lily was more important to me than the actual birth. Anyway, I know the people I am apologizing to probably aren't reading this anymore (especially since they informed me of such in a review), but if you by some chance are…sorry! Hopefully you'll enjoy this installment (and hopefully nothing is wrong here!...now that Lily's born we should be okay?).
"No Amanda Lane?" Lorelai asked, bursting into Rory's room. "What did you name her?"
Rory smiled. "Mom, meet your granddaughter, Lorelai Gilmore Mariano. Lily for short."
Lorelai sighed, with a small smile on her face. "Rory…"
"Mom, it's a nice tradition, one that I hope Lily will continue one day," Rory interrupted. "Anyway, it wasn't my idea. And look at her. She's definitely a Gilmore."
Lorelai looked at Jess when Rory said it wasn't her idea and Jess just shrugged. Lorelai smiled. Again, he had shown how much he loved Rory and how much he respected her family and heritage.
"You want to hold Lily, Mom?" Rory asked.
"You have to ask?" Lorelai joked, holding out her arms.
Rory chuckled and kissed her daughter on the cheek. "Just checking."
The little baby opened her eyes when she moved into Lorelai's arms. She fussed for a few seconds, but quickly calmed down. "Blue eyes," Lorelai stated.
Rory nodded. "I told you she was a Gilmore."
"Oh, Rory, she's beautiful," Lorelai sighed, finally taking everything in.
"She's perfect," Jess contradicted, leaning against the wall, trying not to intrude on the precious mother-daughter moment.
Lorelai shook her head, still looking down at Lily. "Rory was perfect."
Rory laughed again. "Well, Lily's a part of me, so technically, she's perfect too."
"Half-perfect," Lorelai corrected. She looked up at Jess. "I don't know what this hoodlum looked like when he was a baby."
Rory and Jess both laughed, knowing Lorelai was teasing. "Hoodlum?" Rory wondered. "Really, Mom?"
Lorelai shrugged. "Just stating the truth."
"Okay, so we have a problem," Rory began.
"Problem?" Lorelai quickly questioned. "What kind of problem?"
"Grandma," Rory revealed.
"Yes, she is a pesky thing," Lorelai agreed. "I do think she deserves to see Lily, though."
Rory rolled her eyes. "You know that's not what I meant."
"Then what, daughter of mine?"
"She thought I was only in my seventh month," Rory reminded her mom. "Lily is pretty tiny, but she would not be as fine as she is if she was born that early. I'm convinced the only thing that's allowing her to hold her own right now is the Gilmore genes. There's no way she would be able to be breathing on her own eight weeks early, Gilmore or not. So what does Grandma think?"
"I never thought of that," Lorelai admitted. "She didn't say anything in the waiting room."
"But that was before we knew Lily was okay," Rory pointed out. "Now that we know…"
"She might say something to me," Lorelai conceded. "But I bet she won't say anything to you. After all, if you lied, it's somehow all my fault anyway."
Rory tilted her head. "On the other hand, Lily's father is with me. And she loves for the father and the mother of a child to be together. Maybe she won't say anything at all."
Lorelai raised her eyebrows. "Do you really believe that?"
"No," Rory admitted with a sigh.
"I think we're just going to have to wait and see, Kid," Lorelai finally decided. "Yes, you lied, but in the end, it was for her own good."
"Oh, yes, I'm sure she'll see it that way," Rory said, sarcasm lacing her voice.
Lorelai smiled and looked down at Lily and gently bounced her. "What do you think, Lily?"
Rory laughed and looked at Jess. "You want to go get the others?"
Jess walked over to Rory and kissed her deeply. "I never told you how proud of you I am. And how lucky and happy I am right now."
Lorelai turned around. "Can you not get gross in front of me and your kid?"
"Just stay turned around if you don't want to see anything," Rory told her mom. "And cover Lily's eyes." She proceeded to return Jess' kiss with fervor.

Jess walked back into the waiting room. "Rory and Baby Lily would like to see everyone now."
"Lily?!" Emma cried.
"Lorelai Gilmore Mariano," Jess explained. "Lily for short."
"And she needed Lorelai to decide that?" Emily questioned.
"Of course not, Emily," Richard cut in before Jess could answer. "She had to tell Lorelai first. After all, it is their tradition."
When Emily looked at Jess for confirmation, he just nodded.
"What room?" Emma asked bouncing up and down.
"406," Jess answered.
Emma grabbed Aaron's hand and started pulling him down the hall.
They could hear Aaron's sigh of, "Aw, jeez," before the twins disappeared.
Emily and Richard began walking the same way with Emily saying, "You know, it isn't really their tradition. I named Lorelai, didn't I?"
Jess sighed and plopped down into a waiting room chair. Luke sat down beside his nephew. He decided to wait to see Rory and the baby for a few minutes. Now that he knew everything was okay, he could definitely wait.
"You okay?" Luke asked.
"Drained," Jess answered. "Of course, I'm probably better off than Rory. I don't know how she's still functioning."
Luke smiled. "She's a Gilmore. Their stamina is something mere mortals will never understand."
Jess laughed. "That sounds like something Lorelai would say."
Luke nodded with a pained look on his face. "I know. So, the baby's name is Lorelai Gilmore and not Amanda Lane?"
Jess nodded. "Yep."
"How'd she talk you into that one?" Luke wondered.
"She didn't," Jess admitted. The only reason he thought about telling Luke the truth was because he knew if he didn't, Rory would. Not to mention, Luke would be able to tell if he was lying. Luke was always pretty good at that. "It was my idea. I knew Rory would be disappointed in the long run if she didn't carry on her mom's tradition."
"Such a softie," Luke teased. He was surprised Rory hadn't laid that one on him already.
Jess closed his eyes, slid down in the seat and leaned his head back. "Shut up, Uncle Luke."

Rory slowly woke up from her sleep. She had functioned well for a while there, but she just got too tired to stay awake. She slowly rolled her head over to check on Lily, but quickly rolled her head back to its original position and snapped her eyes shut. Aaron was standing near the bassinet Lily was laying in, and Rory just knew this was going to be a good moment. She wasn't going to destroy it for anything.
Aaron looked around and when he saw he was alone and Rory was still sleeping, he touched Lily's little hand. He smiled when her hand wrapped around one of his fingers.
"Hey, Little One," Aaron whispered. "What are you doing awake? You should probably be asleep you know. You've had quite a big day.
"As long as you're awake and we're alone, I should probably tell you some things. First off, you're a Gilmore, a Lorelai Gilmore at that. I know you don't understand, but that means you've got a reputation to uphold here. You have to love coffee. According to the girls, Dad has the best coffee, but you won't get any more than a small cup before you turn thirteen. Rory will give you sips of hers though, like Mom does with Emma. Dad, Jess and I will lecture you about it, but really we wouldn't want it any other way.
"Being a Gilmore girl, you will also have to love junk food. I'm not sure how much junk food you will get before you experience an official movie night, but you'll love it. Dad, Jess and I will lecture you about that as well, but you'll get used to that pretty quick and learn to ignore it like all the girls do.
"Speaking of movie nights, movies are something you're going to love as well. I don't know much about movies because I consider them a waste of time, but the girls will teach you about them pretty quick. I know they have movie nights almost every Saturday and they rate their movies. I don't know the criteria they use, but not to worry, they'll teach you about that too.
"By the way, I'm Aaron. I guess I'm your uncle, but if you don't mind, please don't call me Uncle Aaron. I think Aaron will be fine. You know, Little One—for a baby—you're awfully cute," Aaron concluded.
Rory had opened her eyes throughout this conversation since Aaron couldn't see her face. She had a big smile on her face, which started when he called Lily "Little One." He complained about Jess calling him midget, but it looked like he was already giving her daughter a nickname. Rory hoped Lily would like all those things that Aaron mentioned, but Rory knew Lily didn't have to. They named her Lorelai, but that didn't mean anything. If she didn't, Rory knew she wouldn't care. She loved her daughter for who she was and would love her daughter no matter what she liked.
Rory made some movements that signaled she was about to wake up. Though she loved Aaron's little speech, she knew he would be beyond embarrassed if he knew she had heard him.
Aaron saw Rory began to move, so he quickly removed his finger from Lily's pretty strong grasp and ran over to the couch in her room and sat down. He opened the book that he had brought with him and began to read.
Rory yawned for effect and looked over at Lily. Her eyes were already closing. "So, Aaron, where is everyone?"
"Gram and Gramps went home when they saw you were sleeping," Aaron began to explain, putting down his book. "Jess went down to the cafeteria to look for internet service so he could email Yale. Dad went to the bathroom. Mom and Emma went on a coffee hunt."
"I hope they get some for me!" Rory exclaimed.
Aaron rolled his eyes at their addiction. "I'm sure they will." He began to pick up his book, but then paused and sniffed. "Rory, do you smell that?"
Rory sniffed too and her eyes widened. "Snow! It's going to snow! Aaron…you smelled the snow?!"
Aaron shrugged. "It's not a big deal. Just because I smell it doesn't mean I like it."
Lorelai and Emma walked into the room with coffee. "Rory, we brought you coffee!" Emma said.
"Thank goodness," Rory sighed. "You guys smell it, don't you?"
Emma and Lorelai both sniffed and cried together, "Snow!"
Rory quickly looked over to make sure Lily was still fast asleep and smiled when she saw Lily's eyes open but didn't start to cry. "It's snowing on Lily's birthday!"
Lorelai nodded. She walked over to pick up Lily and hand her to Rory. "See, the best moments of your life always happen when it snows. It's magical."
Rory smiled stroking her daughter's cheek. "It may be at that."
This is officially the last chapter, but there will be an epilogue. I think the epilogue is my favorite part of this whole story! Anyway, review if you read and if you liked it. Review if you didn't! Basically, if you read, drop me and line and thanks for reading!
