A/N: Okay, well I've been a Harvest Moon fan for quite sometime now, and I fell in love with Tree of Tranquility. I cooked this idea up in the dead of night when I was watching Beauty and the Beast, because that's completely normal. Anyway, I started on this ages ago, but I never actually got around to finishing it, until now.
Enjoy this little song ficlet, I cooked up when half asleep.

Disclaimer: I own neither Beauty and the Beast nor Harvest Moon.

There's something sweet
and almost kind.
But he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined

She ran a gloved hand through her messy locks. Something made her want to look her best whenever she knew she'd be passing by him.
Him.
At one point he made her want to scream. Any trace of him was enough to get her blood boiling. He was a complete jerk, and yet... she couldn't help but fall in love with the arrogant boy.
After their first encounter they exchanged brief hellos here and there, for the simple sake of courtesy. But lately, she just… couldn't explain.

But now he's dear, and so unsure
I wonder why I didn't see it there before

Blushing he accepted the orange cake "Wow, how did you know I like this? Um… thanks." The brunette smiled shrugged and flitted away. The peach-haired boy watched her round the corner toward the general store from the window and blushed as the brunette gave a tiny wave before disappearing from sight.

She glanced this way
I thought I saw
and when we touched she didn't shudder at my paw.
No it can't be, I'll just ignore
but then she's never looked at me that way before.

She had agreed to go watch the fireflies with him, plopping down –in a rather unlady-like fashion—her chocolate gaze wandered towards the waterfall. A twig snapped alerting her to his presence, "thanks for waiting!" he flashed her one of his rare, genuine smiles, and sat down next to her.
As the tiny glowing bugs began flying out she leaned back, and sighed placing her hands out behind her to support her. At the same moment he readjusted his own hands, causing the two to brush lightly. Somewhat surprised brown eyes locked with shocking violet ones. Both quickly averted their eyes and re-set their embarrassed gazes on the pretty illuminated sight. …but neither of the two removed their hand.

New and a bit alarming
Who'd have ever thought that this could be?

Standing there dumbfounded she listened to the blushing boy. "…I think I love you." Those small words made the rancher turn a deep crimson and nod happily eventually choking out a "I'm delighted!" feeling lightheaded and tipsy with joy, both flushed even deeper [if that was even possible] before scurrying away, completely delighted.

True that he's no Prince Charming
But there's something in him that I simply didn't see.

Thinking back on it, their profession of love was not at all spectacular. She as a child, she expected falling in love to be much grander, not just a confession then running away. But… the petit girl glanced over her shoulder at her husband of four years, and smiled. The two had always done things differently than most couples.
