Catch Me

Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts.

The girl can be whoever you want, the guy can be whoever you want. Yeah, it's just that random.

"Catch me, I'm falling," she spoken so softly that he had trouble hearing her.

His lips parted when her words connected not with his ears, but with his heart. Trembling he took a step towards her, wanting to reach out but fearing to.

Fearing that, like before, she'd slide away from him like water and splatter around him like rain.

Her blue eyes watched him with an electricity that he could feel replicated in his muscles, in every fiber of his being. She was electrocuting him with just her eyes, drawing him closer and closer even though he knew not to go. Even though he knew she would only lead him deeper into the leaping shadows.

Still, he took another step.

"You have nothing to fall from," he spoke just as softly, a whisper in the dark that could barely be heard over the beating of his frantic heart. Only his heart.

Those blue eyes fluttered, lashes pricking at the edges like thorns, starting to obscure them. On the solid ground, she swayed. As though she really is teetering on the edge of something, so invisible ledge he can never seem to find, no matter how hard he searches.

And my god he searches.

Even though he knew, he panicked. Even though he knew he gasped in fright.

"Please don't—"

Her eyes flicker beneath hooded lids, and abruptly her face is as mask of shadows that sharpen her features, that make those bright blue eyes seem to dull and glow with an eerie light, if it can be considered a light at all—

He reaches and reaches—

Her lips part, her body begins it's steady and inevitable fall back—

And down and down and down, despite his sobs, so broken, so lovely, to the inner darkness' ears.

Just another trap, just another way to kill a heart.

Somewhere down below, in the abyss, her voice floats back up hauntingly as he screams, and the darkness laughs.

"Catch me, I'm falling—"
