That stupid Natsume.

That despicable, hateful jerk. How dare he forget this very, very special day of my life that only comes once a year? Had he no heart at all?

He's my boyfriend, for crying out loud! And yet, he had forgotten my birthday!

What kind of boyfriend forgets his own girlfriend's birthday? I'll answer that: the Natsume Hyuuga-kind of boyfriend!

That heartless jerk.

And to think that he had already done damage last month when he greeted me a day late for our first anniversary. Tsk.

That jerk's lucky to have me as his girlfriend because I still love him despite all his shortcomings.

Goodness. Am I being a martyr? I think I'm qualified enough to have my own monument for being such a good and patient girlfriend. I mean, there's no one else but me who can put up with Natsume's constant mood swings. And that ain't easy, let me tell you.

Argh. That guy.

How could he forget this day?

Just two days ago, I was telling him the things I would want for my birthday. I told him I want any of these things: A charm bracelet with all the letters of my first name dangling on it, a music box, a cute Hello Kitty stuff toy, a pink bonnet, or just a box of fluff puffs would be enough. I guess he just wasn't paying attention when I told him that…

Sigh.

Sigh.

Sigh.

"Oi, polka dots."

"Natsume!"

Oh! My boyfriend's back—

"Oww! Don't throw things at me, you jerk!" I screeched when he threw a large, somewhat heavy paper bag at me.

"Tsk. Just open it, you idiot."

I looked at the paper bag for a matter of second then opened it.

I gasped in astonishment when I saw the items inside. I took them out one by one and put them on the table in front of me.

A charm bracelet with the letters of my name dangling on it, a music box, a cute Hello Kitty stuff toy, a pink bonnet, and a box of fluff puffs.

Everything I've told him that I want for my birthday are all there.

I looked up at him.

"I… I said you can choose one, you didn't have to get me everything…"

"It's hard to decide. You gave too many choices." He answered nonchalantly.

And then, I suddenly felt tears starting to form in my eyes.

Natsume seemed to panic at the sight of tears.

"What, polka, you don't like—"

"No, no, no! I love it! It's just that I thought you forgot my birthday. I've been waiting for you since this morning but you didn't come see me so I looked for you everywhere but I couldn't find you. I thought you've forgotten it's my birthday today like you did on our first anniversary in which you greeted me a day late…" I said while sobbing.

"Idiot. It took me hours to search the whole central town for that stupid bonnet of yours then I had to wait another hour outside the fluff puffs store to open." Natsume explained as he closed our distance and wrapped his arms around me.

"Happy birthday, Mikan." He whispered in my ear.

I felt my face brightened as I hugged him back.

"Thank you!"

I have the greatest, most wonderful boyfriend in the entire universe!

"Oh and for the record, polka, I didn't greet you late on our first anniversary. Our anniversary was on December 3, you thought it was December 2. You were the one who had forgotten the date. You made it a day earlier."

Oh.
