Oneshot Attempt
"What?" Maximum Ride asked irritably, refusing to look into those capturing black orbs that had been gazing at her for over an hour now.
"Hm?" Fang looked confused when Max chose to sneak a peek at him- but that was a mistake. She found looking away was impossible, for her muscles had locked in place. The firelight danced along the walls of the cave they were currently occupying. The smaller kids and Iggy were sleeping in the back while Max and Fang were on watch togethor.
On first watch togethor, Max found herself liking the sound of that.
"You keep staring at me," Max grumbled, finally able to look away. When she did so, she felt the warmth that spread over her as she had gotten captured in his eyes fading, making her feel cold.
"Sorry," She saw Fang shrug and look away out of the corner of her eye. She looked back at him, taking the advantige.
His eyes gazed dreamily out at the view Mother Nature had provided just for this occasion. Snow was blanketed across a wide span of trees in the forest they looked down upon. Max's breath left her visibly each time, followed by a shiver.
Fang noticed this. He looked back at her and saw the reluctant blush paint her face.
"You were staring," Fang stated bluntly.
"So? You were too." Max did not look happy she'd been caught red handed. She shivered noticably and Fang sighed, sounding slightly irritated. Max frowned. "What?"
Fang stood from his spot on the other side of the mouth of the cave and casually strode over to her. He sat against her and wraped the jacket he'd previously picked up at a cheap dollar store Angel had found around Max. His left arm slipped around her shoulders and he held her close. "You should say something when you're cold. You could get sick, you know."
Max opened her mouth, but didn't allow any sound out for fear of stuttering nervously. He was so close. Too close? No... Max liked the nonexistant distance between them. She inhailed his scent and heard his breath shudder slightly as the coldness of the night finally reached him.
"You idiot..." She laughed quietly. He shot her a questioning glance. She smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist. "You should say something when you're cold. You could get sick, you know."
A flicker of a grin crossed Fang's features. "Now, who told you that?"
"A moron."
Fang chuckled. Max felt him shift against her and saw the capturing eyes wide open as Fang softly pressed his lips to hers. Neither Fang nor Max closed their eyes as the kiss went on, captured in eachother's irises.
Fang pulled away and smiled. "You didn't resist this time."
"I... I know." Max said lamely. Fang opened his mouth to reply, but Max rolled her eyes. "Don't talk so much."
Fang grinned -a genuine grin- that made Max's heart tap dance against her ribs.
He was capable of smiling like that? Max thought incredously.
"Do me a favour." Max suggested. Fang looked at her curiously. "Smile like that more often."
And before he had time to retort, Max swooped in for another moonlit kiss.
After all, moonlight was a kiss's best friend.
