Chapter 9: Trouble at the classroom

11:09 AM (Japan Time), Monday June the 15th…

"… So? Where did you go yesterday evening?"

"How do I explain this…? It was meant be a table for negotiations but turned out to be a lie to lure out some VIPs…"

"Sounds like a spy movie!"

"It sure felt like one…"

The usual group were chatting inside their classroom during break time.

"But at least you weren't hurt, right?"

"No. Since we forced that spy to flee…"

"I'm sure I'd caught them with my shovel!" Dekao laughed.

"How is a shovel going to stop a motorbike, anyway?"

"What? It wasn't a horse?"

"No-one brought up a horse! And a shovel won't halt it, either!"

"Sheesh! How lame! It's not fun!"

"Sheesh! It wasn't a movie, y'know!"

"What if the jerk decided to run you over with a bike?"

"YIKES!"

"You talk too fast!" Meiru sighed.

"But Mr. Higure and I found Tokugawa's buried gold, and…!"

"You didn't. You only managed to get yourselves into trouble!"

"Sure. I saw it from my room's balcony!" Meiru sighed.

"Had I known you were looking, I'd put on my best suit!"

"You don't use a best suit to dig up soil!"

"Have you seen any treasure hunters wearing business attire?"

"That's…"

"No, right? Then don't try to put up "gentleman" airs!"

"Sheesh! I'll improve Guts Man into Mega Ultra Tera Guts Man!"

"Go ahead. I doubt it'll make a difference!"

"When did you become my mom!?"

"I never did. I've simply become stricter to shake off any people who might try to pester me…" She fumed.

"Whatever. I'll find the gold and then the Silver Djinn will grant my wish!"

"Silver Djinn? Sounds like a parody of Silver Surfer, even…"

"Wouldn't surprise me!"

"Evil Pepe has a message! We'll stuff Calderón into the huge cauldron that he came out from to send him via DHL to the White House! They'll have to ready a better strawman!"

"That voice…!" Everyone muttered.

"Everyone's favorite troll master, Jupiter Warrior, has come!"

"Stop with that nickname. We know that you're named Kurayami and you're being hunted by the Three Musketeers!" Netto challenged.

"Hmpf. Naturally… Did Mr. VP share the footage of our gadget?"

"No. I'm sure it was lame to begin with!"

"More like he's trying to pretend it never happened!"

"It can't be better than Bubble Man's crappy scams!"

"Too bad! But this is the real deal!"

"Go broom the steppes!"

"Delighted. With my Nimbus 2000!"

"Wait! Then you must know where the buried gold is! Confess!"

"Even if I did, why would I? Who wouldn't want to the first at it?"

"Sheesh! Not fair! Ms. Miyuki said I'd have a golden future!"

"Guts. She never did… That was an email by "Venus Warrior", guts!"

"What!? No way~!"

"Naturally. She's serious about her business…" Netto sighed.

"We only met her once a couple of years ago, but she struck at being very serious about how she carried out fortune-telling…" Saito added.

"So? What do you want? Almighty Jupiter?" Meiru challenged.

"That doesn't sound bad, either. I'll borrow it! Like how Metsu of Xenoblade 2 borrowed "Master Blade" and "Heaven's Holy Grail"!"

"You must look up to Brad Pitt!" She tried next.

"No need to! I might not be a "cool" man, but appearance is the least of my concerns! Power! Ability! That's what matters in the battlefield!"

"Sheesh. Can't deny that…" Delta grumbled.

"Found ya! No more running away! Sigma's come to put ya down!"

"What the…! Sigma! You lowlife!"

"Surprised? Did ya think we'd be always trying to find ya in Vietnam when it was clear from the news that ya were here?"

"Sheesh! What happened to the breeders?"

"Hmpf! Boss snuck a virus in the system, and they initiated apoptosis!"

"Devil! You got the idea from those reports, didn't you!"

"Sure! Boss doesn't waste his time, y'know!"

"Bothersome interlopers…!"

"That's my motto! Come at full power!"

"No time to deal with you! Slash Man Omicron, Charge Man Omicron! Delete this fool!"

"Not so fast. 2 VS 1 is unfair, don't you think so, Kurayami?"

"Brad Shad!" Kurayami cursed in a rather sarcastic tone.

"Blood Shadow. Imitating that Bubble Man only puts you in the same level as him when it comes to intelligence…"

"Charge Man Omicron! Run that blood red jerk over! Full speed! Go!"

"Slash! Hyper Mode: Activate!"

"Outta the way! Hyper Mode: Activate!"

"Come at full power!"

"Let's do this!"

"Battle Operation, Set! In!"

A projector connected to a PC on the teacher's desk turned on and projected footage into the foldable projection screen over the blackboard.

"The mighty Sigma is here!"

Sigma was about two meters tall, and his whole body was jet black.

His face had two red eyes and one glowed brighter than the other.

Two horns, one of which was almost erased, were set on both sides of his head and added a "demonic" look to him.

He had a red spheroid on his chest, and it lacked armor over its mass.

Green data flows moved around his body.

He held a massive black and green sword in his right hand.

"And Blood Shadow has also arrived…"

Blood Shadow's main color of choice was red.

He could be around a meter and fifty tall.

He sported thick, black shades that hid his eyes.

A flock of messy red hair came out from behind the red helmet given how it only covered the front of the head.

His ear-pads were red and lacked any decoration.

His crimson armor had the purple letters "BS" engraved on the chest area.

He had shoulder pads which were a mix of golden and blue.

He had a double-barreled shotgun on his right forearm.

His left arm had black skin with purple circles set at different points between the shoulder and the forearm.

He had a thick, red piece of armor protecting his left forearm.

His legs were black and two parallel, red stripes ran down the sides.

He had crimson boots that reached until the knees along with kneecaps.

"Demon Rings!"

"Charged shotgun shot!"

"Two of the Three Musketeers came!"

"Triple Edge!"

"Crazy Locomotive!"

Sigma extended his left hand and formed thin, blue rings which shot out in a row and at different intercalating heights.

The rings frizzled with electricity which paralyzed Slash Man when he was about to throw three kunai at Sigma.

The black giant swung his sword, and the blow was so strong that it sent him flying across the Cyber World to land, hard, in the ground, two meters further inside.

"Why, you…!"

"I hope that ain't all you can do!"

Charge Man had tried to run into Blood Shadow but a close-quarters blast from his double-barreled shotgun was enough to halt him on his tracks.

"Hyper Grenade!"

"Hyper Volcano Charge! Hyper Panic Train!"

Slash Man threw two grenades into the air which detonated and formed "Omicron Factor" puddles while Charge Man shot some incandescent coal embers colored pale blue from his body's chimney to then form three small black wagons which ran forward towards Blood Shadow.

He calmly flipped across the ground using his left hand as support and dodged all the attacks.

Sigma had begun to hover some centimeters above the ground to dodge the grenades, too.

"Slashing slash of slashes! Wanna taste my sword's metal? Eat this!"

Sigma warped out of sight and dropped down from above while keeping the blade parallel to the ground.

The blow made Slash Man end up in the ground and Sigma then began to smash the ground around him with the sword, cutting his escape routes.

"Why, you…! Rolling Slasher!" He cursed.

He began to spin around his axis at a mad speed and shot forward.

Sigma calmly swung his sword in a wide arch and impacted the waist area, thus halting his attack.

Sigma gripped his head using the left hand and lifted him off the ground.

"Data about the lab has been purged before being sent out, Blood!"

"I did expect that that could happen. Use the anti-bodies program!"

"Not so fast!"

Slash Man managed to form a Mega Cannon and it shot a jet of gel towards Sigma, who flung him away and sidestepped to dodge.

Slash Man recovered in mid-air and spun before shooting forward as he bombarded the zone with his grenades.

The matrix began to form around the area but Sigma's eyes glowed red and he shot two red continuous laser beams from his eyes, igniting and setting the area on fire.

A buzz rang out as fire detectors turned on and emergency sprinklers began to unleash the water contained in them to put it out.

"Hyper Crazy Locomotive~!"

Charge Man "charged" forward towards Blood Shadow but something in the ground exploded and sent him flying into the air to land with the lower half exposed in the ground.

A crater remained where he'd stepped at and the wound on Charge Man's lower body was leaking "Omicron Factor" at a slow but constant rate.

"Claymore anti-personnel mine!"

"Brother! I knew you would not be settled until you could defeat me…"

"Death Shadow…! I am not your brother! Get lost!" Blood Shadow yelled.

"Hmpf. I tried what you call "dramatics"… But it is not like I was lying, because you know that you and I are connected…"

"It's simply because you were a program with a different shape before and used a distraction to assault me and steal parts of my data to be able to rebuild yourself into a stronger program!" He grumbled.

"That was the result of your over-confidence in assuming that I was but a weak thing that could do nothing else but escape…"

"I admit that that's true! But that doesn't make us "brothers"!"

"Have fun while our HD Project approaches completion!"

"HD Project? High Definition Project…?" Sigma wondered.

"It's obviously a codename. No use pondering about it too much because we're not going to guess what it is from the name…"

"Sheesh. You're right!"

"I'm not done yet! Hyper Beam!"

"Have it back!"

"What!?"

Slash Man charged up energy on his device and outputted a blue beam, however Sigma formed a "gravity field" to force it to curve and fly back towards the source, hitting the device and rushing inside the body.

Slash Man groaned as veins formed over his skin and over his eyes until they turned into pale blue masses and his mouth began to salivate gel, too.

"These things are getting spookier with each passing day!" Delta cursed.

"So? Mr. Golden? Can you handle those?" Meiru challenged.

Dekao grumbled and looked away while muttering under his breath.

"Stay put! Least we want is that thing contaminating you before we can install the anti-bodies program into you!" Blood Shadow commanded.

"For safety reasons, we turned on the airplane mode of our devices!"

"This way they're isolated from incoming signals…"

Slash Man roared as his limbs turned into gel and grew longer and thicker, reaching out to Sigma from several meters away while new legs formed to keep him rooted to the ground.

"Hell's Burner!"

Sigma used the attack on the extended limbs to set them on fire, but they snapped and split off before the flames could reach Slash Man.

He formed four arms that ended in drills which were spinning and rushed for Sigma, jumping atop Charge Man (who'd recovered and joined him) as he laid out more rail and sped up by forming jet boosters on his flanks.

"Sheesh. The Shagohod next?" Blood Shadow sighed.

"Kurayami's "wisdom", I guess!" Sigma grumbled.

"I've got two layers of barriers around my body! Mines won't work!"

Slash Man howled as eight arms emerged from his chest device, followed by a spherical body with a single eye.

"A spider came out from inside him!? Gross!" Meiru gasped.

"GROSS!" Yaito yelped.

"MOMMY~!"

Dekao ran off the classroom while the others rolled their eyes.

The spider's shot a blue beam at Sigma's octahedron shield, shattering it into pieces and heading for his exposed core.

Sigma shot a red beam from his core next, and it ignited the blue beam.

"Super North Wind! Peel off all barriers!"

"What!"

"And here's an old-fashioned trick from Guy Fawkes!"

Blood Shadow formed a wooden barrel and sent it rolling down the tracks while a fuse began to burn.

Charge Man grumbled and sped up to hit the barrel and try to shatter it, but the fuse finished burning and the barrel exploded, knocking out Charge Man off the tracks with Slash Man and the spider in tow.

"Now!"

"OK!"

Sigma made his sword burn as it stabbed the spider and blew it up.

Blood Shadow rushed for Slash Man and aimed his shotgun at the chest while the berserk Slash Man tried to headbutt him.

He shot two big and thick golden needles that plunged into the chest and emitted pure light from it as all the gel shrieked and broke down into pieces that turned into acid and dissolved themselves, leaving burn marks on the ground.

Slash Man collapsed face-down into the ground, lacking limbs.

Sigma did the same for Charge Man's forehead and he fainted.

"This program can force the cells to initiate apoptosis and decompose the gel into raw acid…"

"Where did this freakish thing come from!?" Akashi gasped.

"A mad engineer that Izono had hired to build a cyber world weapon!"

"I can tell! They bothered to make it like it was a living thing!"

"They probably copied it from Phazon, a similar substance found in the Metroid Prime trilogy… And if it wasn't obvious, Death Shadow looks like a recreation of Dark Samus, too… Must've been quite the nerd!"

"Surprised that they showed up now and not two years ago…"

"The jerk was caught after trying to hack into a Choina military server…"

"What a fool! Trying to hack the military…"

"But since they were the careful type, they'd set a timer so that their toys would wake up roughly two years later… That's what we found when we raided their Cyber World lab, which we found by following the trail of money that Izono sent to Vietnam using a secret route…"

"Sheesh. What an eyesore he left behind! Reminds me of Regal!"

"Guess all arrogant humans like Regal and Wily think alike!"

"We're readying anti-bodies programs to avoid being infected by those, we'll distribute them as soon as they're ready!" Sigma told them.

"OK. Until then, guess it's time for intense training…" Delta sighed.

"Sure thing. It's about time we showed we're not pushovers!"

"Agreed. Roll! We're going to train in further self-defense!"

"OK! I won't let those punks intimidate me, either!"

"I like that spirit. But don't overestimate the enemy, either!"
