STRIKING PART 2
A/N: In response to some reviewer's comments (thank you by the way) this story- or group of oneshots, whatever you like- wasn't supposed to be a storystory, just some little creative exercises. I always thought there was a lot more emotion behind the Potter's story than ever told, and I wanted to try to portray that without it getting to long and dragging. I haven't decided if I should write more of these or even add a plot yet, so tell me what you think.
And maybe I should mention that I have no claim to the Harry Potter universe whatsoever. At all.
The two sat by the lake; their friends chatting and laughing all around them. And yet to the two, they seemed like they were in their own bubble.
From where the girl sat, the future was bright, nothing could hurt them here in this place. She relaxed against him, her demeanor speaking of a trust that had been carefully built up. The boy basked in the glow of complete satisfaction. He was enjoying a stress free day with his friends, and his girlfriend was nearly asleep in his lap. All was well with the world.
She took quiet joy in the laughter of the dashing boy seated across from her, the excitement of the slightly pudgy girl next to her, and the reluctant amusement of the other boy in their group. She felt a deep rumble of laughter in the chest behind her, and couldn't control a drowsy smile. She had learned the cost of prejudice, and had lived through the disappointment of false hopes. She had learned a lesson in humility and pride, and lived to tell the tale.
And the tale had a happy ending. She had discovered a perfect knight in shining armor- she just had to look under a carefully constructed invisibility cloak.
And to all their friends around them, and the world beyond them, they looked like a knight and his fair maiden; one loyal, gallant and brave, one beautiful, charming and needing to be rescued. And both of them more than willing to be the center of the other's universe.
