OoOoOoOoO
Ill-fated Chase
She ran. She was panting, her heart was beating loudly in her ears, her feet hurt, she was getting wet with sweat, she felt hot and cold at the same time and she was almost passing out, but she just kept running. Fear kept her legs moving. She ran as fast as she could, which was not very fast, especially compared to him.
She glanced behind her, seeing nothing but hearing his footsteps coming closer and closer. She wanted to call out for help, but she knew no one would hear her. There were nothing but darkness and empty streets surrounding her.
She didn't know how long she ran, he behind her, but finally she saw the apartment building where she lived and she felt a bit hopeful again. Maybe she could get home safe after all. Almost frantically, she quickened her pace and ran with all her might toward the main entrance, a desperate look in her eyes. She sighed in relief when she found out that the doors were not locked, but soon stiffened in horror as she realized he could easily get inside too.
She almost tripped a couple of times when she ran up the stairs because there were no lights on, they were broken, but she was able to get to the door of her apartment safely. Hearing his hurried footsteps echoing in the staircase, coming closer and closer again, she got so scared her whole body trembled. She had thought she would be safe once she got inside the apartment building.
She nervously fiddled with the keys and to her terror she dropped them a few times. She didn't seem to find the right key in the dark hall, even though there weren't many keys attached to her keychain.
Suddenly there was a loud sound of someone tripping, falling and rolling down the stairs. Then there was a painful groan before everything went quiet. No footsteps. After a while of being completely still, holding her breath, she sighed in relief. He was unconscious. Or maybe even dead. She hoped so.
Finally finding the right key, she opened her door, took a final glance around the empty hall and walked in, getting safe –
A pair of strong, cold arms wrapped around her, squeezing her almost breathless.
"Caught you, Kikyou…" a sickeningly sweet voice said in a sing-a-song voice next to her ear.
She screamed and his horrible, menacing laughter was the last thing she heard before everything turned completely black.
OoOoOoOoO
A/N: I just felt like writing a horror fic for some reason. Not that this is very scary, but it's mysterious in a bit of a scary way...
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha.
