Leo, the Lion Spirit pined for his master, the blond Lucy. The Stellar Spirit didn't understand why he wasn't called today. There was a big battle; his gentle master is in danger of death. If she was in mortal danger, he would have been able to cross the gate without her calling, but she wasn't during the battle. He tried to force the gate, but it just wouldn't open... *sighs*... he had been too careless. Now he stood in the spirit world, watching the one he cared for, no loved, being in such a state. A human couldn't know the feeling of not being able to help his master, when she needed it.

Her pride for wanting to win "her" battles had put her in such heal. She thought maybe, that he was too controlling, too protective, but he truly was only trying to do his best to protect his master. He had told her "he would always fight for her and stand by her side" and he did... even if he wasn't called. But never could he tell her, just how much he cared for her, that he was ready to commit to one girl, that he would protect her as a lover, not just as her Spirit, because she was the only Human girl whom understood that Spirits did have feelings as well. She was so warm, so caring, so kind... her smile... he wanted to see it again. She loved and cared for her Spirits, she really saw them as companions and friends, and not shields. He hoped she was alright and would recover soon, so he could see her being energetic, smiling being full of happiness once again.

She never believed him when he declared his love feelings for her, because she thought it was some joke, when it wasn't. How much it pained him to see her laugh at him whenever he would try. So, he went off on dates more often, to try to forget that pain, because he knew no other ways... except perhaps alcohol. But even then, alcohol doesn't affect spirits that much. And so, it restarted, whenever he'd try to tell her he loved her, she would just laugh at him... and it hurt him again. He knew that if she didn't fall for him, it must be that he wasn't good enough for his gentle master. She's also considered him a pervert, but truly he wasn't... he only did that to erase his memories of Karen and his unrequited love for her... if only he gave her a chance! Oh, how he was jealous, when Natsu and Gray were able to laugh, play with her. He was jealous that Lucy confided in Natsu, instead of him... he wanted to be the one she always went to and depended on.

He knew that obsessing and pining over his master wouldn't do him any good. He tried, several times, to ask her out on a date, but she always refused, saying "don't you have other, more attractive girls to date"? But he didn't want any of these girls; he wanted only his master's heart. Even though he acted like a playboy; his heart truly only belonged to her.
