Déjà Vu
Chapter 4: Wrong Dimension?
Chopping Spree made a face at the walls of the cavern he was currently staying in to mask his signature from the Autobots. He wasn't worried about them though he could easily take them all on and still come out the victor. The only one of them who might even have a chance of taking him down was Bumblebee and he was willing to bet that the traitorous bot had already high-tailed it out of there and was heading for the hills…so to speak.
He needed to draw the little bot out but how? If he went out his companions would…wait, his companions. Of course! They would come to fight him and if he killed one of them then Bumblebee would come after him. It was brilliant! Now all he needed to do was think of a place to fight them, one that he could use to his advantage.
Immediately he pulled up several road maps in his processor and started planning his attack.
Optimus was quite satisfied with himself. They had come up with a viable plan of attack. Now all that remained to do was find Chopping Spree, defeat him and then find Bumblebee. A ping from the monitors informed him that phase two of his 'Recovering Bumblebee' plan was now in effect.
"Autobots roll out!" he ordered even as he transformed into a fire truck and led the way out. However he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching them and that they were very close by…
"Well," Prime asked anxiously.
Ratchet completed his scan of Bumblebee then glared at Prime before sighing heavily and shaking his head. "He's definitely not a Decepticon spy," 'Bee choked for several seconds before gesturing for Ratchet to continue. "His circuitry is definitely similar to ours although not as advanced as you might think."
"I was created at the tail end of the war," 'Bee interjected. "And for your information I am a Decepticon spy…or at least I used to be."
"Used to be?" Prime echoed.
"I was half-Autobot and half-Decepticon. The Decepticons raised me and later I joined the Autobots where I met your grandson and Ratchet. He's just as grumpy then as he is now."
Prime hid his smile behind his battle mask and said seriously, "That still doesn't explain why you wanted to go back in time to begin with."
'Bee sighed and said, "It's a long story. You might want to get comfortable. It all started when I was just a sparkling…"
"And that's when I decided to go back in time and change things. Granted I didn't mean to come back this far in time but…"
Prime frowned. He had just listened to an intriguing story about the future (well the future 'Bee's future anyway) and he didn't like it. Sentencing a bot to spend eternity in stasis just because of mistakes made when they were younger and not even sending to the Well of All Sparks? That was just cruel in Prime's opinion, apparently Ratchet thought so too because his faceplate became sterner and sterner the more 'Bee's story had progressed until at last his expression would have frightened away Megatron himself.
"And we just let them take you away?" it was obvious that Ratchet was disgusted with himself.
'Bee hesitated then reached into his subspace compartment and pulled out a datapad which he handed to Ratchet who raised an optic ridge at him questioningly.
"It's an explanation from you to me," 'Bee explained. "You gave it to Optimus's great-grandson to give to me. On your deathbed you made him promise to find me."
The two bots exchanged significant glances before Ratchet nodded and then promptly kicked them out of med-bay, presumably so he could watch his message.
Prime and Bumblebee walked down the hallway an awkward silence between them. Prime had just worked up the courage to talk to him when they were interrupted by Perceptor and Wheeljack whose helm panels where flashing neon green.
"We figured out why you came here instead of your Earth," Wheeljack cried, delightedly.
"My Earth?" Bumblebee questioned.
Perceptor nodded and began explaining. "You see when something as powerful as the All Spark is activated it…"
He was interrupted by Wheeljack who had taken pity on the glazed over looks that were beginning to appear on Prime and 'Bee's faceplates.
"Basically, when the All Spark activated it tore a hole in space and time opening up a whole new dimension. That's why when you landed on Earth no one had ever heard of the Autobots and the hole remained open, anyone else attempting to come to Earth would have landed on it the same way you did." Wheeljack stopped his helm panels still flashing as he eagerly waited for their opinions.
"So I traveled to the wrong dimension?" 'Bee asked just so that he was perfectly clear.
Wheeljack nodded eagerly. "All you need to do is punch in the correct coordinates, accounting for the whole dimension thing of course and you should be set."
"Thank you," 'Bee grasped Wheeljack's servo and shook it heartily. "Well what are the coordinates? I gotta go now. I can't wait to tell Prowl what your Prowl did when I told him about the tree," he cackled.
Wheeljack gave 'Bee the coordinates then he, Perceptor, Prime, Ratchet, and their Bumblebee escorted the future 'Bee back to the barren wasteland where they had first encountered him.
"My crew has repaired your ship to working order," Prime explained.
"Thank you," 'Bee said, smiling at them warmly. "It really was nice to meet all of you but I better go now."
They watched as he climbed back into Omega Supreme and remained there until he had taken off and disappeared from sight. Then they headed back towards their ship, each one feeling just a little happier now that they knew they would defeat the Decepticons.
