Annabeth POV:
"Annabeth, honey, what does that motion that looks like a double loser then a gun mean again?" Percy asked, trying to decipher what Hali was asking. We had been teaching our now 9 month olds sign language.
"It means sister, and will you stop calling it the double loser gun thing?" I laughed. He was right though, it did sort of look like that.
"Oh you want Sophia?" Percy asked Hali. Hali made a 'yes' movement with her hands and giggled.
"Perce, Sophia is taking a nap." I told him. "I just put her down. Maybe if you lay Hali down next to her, she'll sleep too." I suggested.
Percy looked at Hali and picked her up. "That's why you're mommy is a daughter of Athena." He told her. "Because she's so smart!" He said, winking at me.
"Awe, thanks seaweed brain. Not so bad yourself!" I said light heartedly.
Percy smirked and took Hali upstairs to put her down for a nap with her sister. When he came back down the stairs, he had a big grin on his face.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Sophia isn't asleep." He smiled.
"Okay. Why are you smiling?"
"They started speaking gibberish to each other, like they understood one another. It was the cutest thing." He said, as he pulled me by my waist and gave me a kiss.
"I want to see!" I said, squirming away from him and running up the stairs.
"That's what she said!" He called after me.
"You're so immature!" I laughed.
"That's why you married me isn't it?" He teased.
"That's not why I married you." I joked.
"Sure, wise girl." He said. We both quietly entered the nursery, and Hali and Sophia were standing up in their cribs. Hali's crib was on the wall opposite of Sophia's.
"What are you two doing?" I asked them, as they giggled and kept speaking their little gibberish language.
They both held out their little hands in front of the mouths and wiggled their little fingers, which meant 'talking' in baby sign language.
"Percy!" I practically yelled. "They're talking to each other and they know that they're talking to each other!"
Percy grabbed me by my waist and pulled me close to him, and gave a kiss. "They're little geniuses, just like their mom." He grinned, giving me another kiss.
"Ew!" I heard two little voices say. I didn't sound exactly like the word, but I knew what they were trying to say.
"Ew!" I heard again, followed by hysterical giggles.
I looked at Percy. "Get the video camera! NOW!" I screamed. Percy didn't miss a beat and zipped down the hall and was back in the nursery within a couple of seconds.
"Okay! Hali! Sophia! Say that again!" I said, encouraging them. They were now sitting on their bottoms, playing with some little stuffed animals in their cribs. They looked up and stared at us.
"C'mon! Say what you said for Daddy and Mommy!" Percy said, also trying to persuade them to speak again.
They just kept staring. Then Percy, for once, had a fantastic idea. He walked up to me and gave me a kiss.
"Ew!" The girls giggled.
Percy looked at me. "This is going to be fun." He said with a smile that he reserved for me.
"Aphrodite's got it in for us." I laughed.
We took the video camera, and asked the girls to say it again. As we expected we had to kiss before they reacted.
"Ew! Ew! Ew!" they giggled hysterically.
"I love our kids." I told Percy.
"I love them too." He said.
