Annabeth POV:

"Say cheese!" Rachel said, as she snapped a picture of Percy, the girls and I, on their very first birthday.

We had invited a few people over to our house for a little party for Hali and Sophia. Thalia, Nico, Kate, Zach, Rachel, Grover, Juniper, my dad and step mom, and Percy's mom and step dad had all come to the celebration.

My step mom and Percy's mother walked out with a big blue cake that said 'Happy Birthday Hali and Sophia' on it. We all sang happy birthday as Hali and Sophia eyes got wide when they saw the cake.

After singing, we passed out cake. In a matter of minutes the girls faces was covered in blue icing.

"Yum yum!" They both giggled. The cake Sally and my step mom had made was absolutely delicious.

"Let's go ahead and open presents now!" I suggested after everyone had finished their cake.

"Mine first!" Nico begged. Thalia rolled her eyes.

We opened Thalia and Nico's gift. It was two small golden bracelets with 'Χαλί', which is Greek for Hali written on one, and 'Σοφία', which is Greek for Sophia written on the other.

"Nico, Thalia! This is beautiful!" I told them. The little gold bracelets were really very beautiful

"That's not the best part!" Nico said. "If you rub their names they turn into a shield!" he said excitedly.

Percy took one of the bracelets and rubbed Hali's name. Sure enough it expanded into a full size shield.

"Dude! That's awesome!" Zach said, giving Nico a high five.

"Where did you find these?" Percy asked.

"I know a guy from the Hephaestus cabin." He said grinning smugly.

"Well thank you Nico, I'm sure the girls will love it." I said.

The next one we opened was from Grover and Juniper. Grover had made two sets of reed pipes for the girls. They were a silver-purple color.

"I figured they might learn to play them when they were older." Grover said, smiling.

"They can manipulate water!" Juniper added.

"Thank you!" I said. "I'll be sure that they'll learn to play them!"

"And it manipulates water!" Percy said. "How cool is that?" He said high fiving Grover and Juniper.

The next one we opened was from Kate and Zach. It was two large green and blue bow and arrows, but they didn't have a sharp point like normal ones.

"They shoot water balloons." Kate said proudly. "I was hoping that the girls would inherit your archery skills, not Percy's." she said smiling.

"Not funny." Percy and Zach said. They were both terrible at archery.

"But they shoot water balloons!" Zach added. "That's the best part!" He said.

"This is a really neat gift. Thanks guys! There going to love it." I said, thanking them both.

Rachel came forward holding a large book.

"This is for the both of them. I was hoping you would be able to read this to them." She said with a big smile on her face.

It was one of those pop up books people often read to little kids, but this one was filled with stories about Greek myths. There were also stories about me and Percy's adventures.

"Where did you get this?" I asked her. "This is amazing!" I said as a looked through the book.

"My dad owns the lot of a pop up book factory. I asked them to make me one." She told us. Hali and Sophia laughed as they saw a pop up picture of me and Percy battling a group of telkines.

"This is really great Rachel. Thank you!" I said.

The next one was from Percy's mom and step dad. They had gotten the girls Hydra and Minotaur piggy banks, and my dad and step mom had gotten the girls a Corthino game.

"I'll be playing with the Corthino game probably more than they will!" I joked. Corthino is a game where the players have act as architects and use competitive strategy skills to make a new temple out of the blocks on the game as fast as they can.

"We thought they might inherit your love for architecture." My dad said.

_linebreak_

Everyone started leaving around 4:30, because the girls were starting to get a little cranky. Percy and I had already put the girls to sleep, and we were cleaning up around the house.

I was about to throw away some wrapping paper when I noticed the water balloon bow and arrow Kate and Zach had gotten the girls. Percy was sweeping the floor in the kitchen.

I knew that if I filled the balloons with water, Percy would be able to deflect them, so I filled them with some chocolate milk that was in the fridge.

"Hey seaweed brain!" I called, holding up the arrow.

Percy looked up and chuckled. "You know I won't get wet."

"I thought about that, so I filled it with chocolate milk." I said grinning, as I shot the arrow, and watched Percy get soaked with the chocolate milk.

I guessed that the arrow was enchanted because chocolate milk filled balloons magically reappeared.

As I was about to shoot another arrow, Percy picked up one of the girls bracelets and turned it into a shield.

"Can't get me now, can you?" He laughed.

"We'll see!" I taunted him. I aimed a balloon in the direction Percy was moving. The balloon splashed open against his shield, still managing to soak his shoes.

"This is war!" Percy cried, as he picked up the reed pipes from Grover and Juniper and started to play it. I watched as some of the glassed of water that were lying around made a little puddle of water right above me.

I grabbed the other bracelet and shielded myself. "Ha!" I shouted.

After about half an hour and water and chocolate milk sailing around the living kitchen, Percy called a truce.

"You win, wise girl." He said, raising his hands in surrender.

"I always win." I told him giving him a kiss on the cheek.
