Set immediately after the Burning. I think Dempsey was quite battered and bruised by the whole experience, not just physically. Being without Harry all that time must have cast him adrift. Four Drink Harry was going to turn into Hungover Harry in the morning if she wasn't careful, and Hungover Harry spelled all kinds of trouble for him. A one-shot idea that came to me yesterday, not related to Care and Need.

It's Christmas and Harry doesn't want Dempsey to spend the festive season alone and invites him to be her plus one at Winfield Hall. The evening doesn't quite go as she planned!

She's resigned. She's gone! Doesn't she know how much he needs her? How the only reason he hasn't done something extremely stupid before now is because he had her to come back to? Dempsey has to persuade her come back to the police, to him. But how?

"Jeez!" He hisses...about to embarrass himself in front of the gorgeous and enthusiastic woman he has pinned to his couch...

Another one from the archives which I've dragged out and added the final bit. Dempsey tackles a bomb and this time it doesn't go his way and Harry finds it difficult to cope with the visit to Intensive Care.

*Second chapter added* For some reason I was thinking about when I first moved to London and how looking for places to live by circling the ads in the Standard was just how it was pre-internet. How this led to a second chapter for this one, I'm not really sure! Anyway, hope everyone is well :)
