Annabeth POV:
It was Saturday, and Percy, Hali, and I in the kitchen, waiting for Sophia and Luke to wake up.
Percy sat Hali down at the table and gave her a bowl of Cocoa Puffs. "Where's Sophia?" Percy asked. "Is she still sleeping?"
"Yeah. She has polka dots too." Hali sighed.
"Polka dots?" I asked. "What do you mean?"
"She has little polka dots all over." Hali said, as if it was obvious what she meant.
I looked at Percy. "Perce, it's 9:30 and Sophia and Luke are both still sleeping. They are always the first two awake."
Without a moments notice Percy sprinted out of the kitchen and up the stairs, and I followed his lead, hearing Hali yell "DO I HAVE TO MILK A COW TO GET SOME MILK FOR MY CEREAL AROUND HERE?" in the distance.
Percy ran into the girls room, so I went to Luke's room. He was in his crib, sleeping peacefully, except for the fact he was covered, in what looked like bug bite's or 'polka dots' as Hali had described.
I ran into the hallway, as Percy waked out of Sophia's room.
"Chicken pox." We both said.
"Didn't we get them vaccinated for that?" Percy asked.
I thought for a moment. "Maybe it didn't have as much effect because their demigods? I remember getting the chicken pox when I was little." I said.
"You're right, I had them when I was little too. I remember my mom bringing me blue chicken noodle soup." He chuckled.
I heard a small pitter patter of footsteps, and then saw Hali at the edge of the hallway, holding her bowl of cereal.
"I'm still waiting for some milk." She said, motioning to her bowl of cereal.
-line break—
I was driving to the doctor's office with Sophia and Luke, when I accidentally honked my horn, waking Sophia up.
"Sorry, Soph, that was an accident." I told her.
She yawned. "Oh, I already knew that." She sighed. "Lukey is still sleeping, so it's okay."
I looked at her. "How did you know that?" I asked her.
She looked at me like I was missing something. "Well, I knew it was an accident because you didn't say 'ASSHOLE' afterwards." She told me.
Since we were at a stop light I turned around in my seat. "Don't tell your dad about this." I laughed.
Sophia smiled. "I won't."
After driving for another fifteen minutes of driving, I pulled up into the doctor's office. I unbuckled the still sleeping Luke, and then Sophia, and then we headed into the building.
We waited for about 30 minutes, before being called to the back to see the doctor.
"So, who've we got today?" The doctor asked.
"This is Sophia, and she is six, and this is Luke and he is seven months." I told the doctor. "This morning they both woke up with what I think is the chicken pox."
The doctor smiled. "Been playing with chickens, huh Sophia?" She asked.
"No." Sophia said. "I did have chicken nuggets for lunch yesterday though."
The doctor laughed. "Has there been anyone else sick? Like another sibling?" She asked me.
"No, Hali, Sophia's twin, isn't sick." I told her. "It's just Sophia and Luke."
"Alrighty then. We'll just start Sophia and Luke on an antibiotic and they'll be good as new in about a week. Make sure that they don't scratch the sores and also make sure they stay away from Hali. They are still contagious at this point, and we don't want to infect her." The doctor told me as she wrote a prescription for an antibiotic.
I left the doctor's office and got Luke and Sophia buckled up in the car.
"Can I see Hali?" Sophia asked.
I turned on the car. "I'm sorry sweetie, you're sick, and if you see Hali you might make her sick." I told her.
"So can I see Hali?" She asked again.
I looked over at her. "No. If you see Hali, you'll make her sick."
Sophia raised an eye brow. "Are you sure?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm sure." I laughed, as I drove home.
