Annabeth POV:
Thalia and I were sitting in the kitchen talking on my day off, when my phone started to ring. I answered it, and it was Hali's 4th grade teacher.
"Uh, Hi Mrs. Perkins." I said. "Is there something wrong?"
"Well, Hali won't stop crying," she began. "So I asked Mrs. Perez to get Sophia to talk to Hali. Then she just told us that they both need to be taken home immediately." She said.
"Okay, I'll be there in fifteen minutes." I said, as I hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Thalia asked.
"Hali's 4th grade teacher. We have to go get her and Sophia from school." I said.
"Alright." She said, as we both got in the car and headed to their elementary school.
We pulled up into their school, and went down to the front office where the girls were waiting. Sophia was hugging a crying Hali, and mouthed hot mess to Thalia.
"Excuse me?" Thalia asked, half laughing, half surprised.
Sophia just rolled her eyes and said, "We'll explain later."
I signed the girls out of school and we all got back into the car.
"Okay, are you going to explain what's going on?" I asked Sophia.
Sophia sighed, and Hali choked back a sob. "Hali's boyfriend broke up with her, and she's too emotionally unstable to be able to participate in long division at school." Sophia said.
I slammed the breaks. "Hali's boyfriend?" I laughed.
"You're never too young for love, mother! You of all people should understand that!" Hali cried. I looked over at Thalia and saw her bent over with her hand over her mouth laughing the hardest I've ever seen her.
"Girls, I think that 4th grade is a little early for boys. Don't you?" I asked, doing my best not to laugh.
"No, we don't." Hali and Sophia both said.
"Sophia, do you have a boyfriend?" Thalia asked.
"Yes." She said, in a very matter-of-factly voice.
"Sophia, I don't think that's a very good idea. I don't even know these boys." I said.
"Yeah you do. You're friends with Travis and Katie from camp!" Hali said.
"What do they have to do with anything…" Thalia paused. "Oh my gods please tell me your boyfriends are Travis and Katie's twin sons, Ryan and Thomas." Thalia laughed.
"See you do know them!" Sophia said, throwing her hands in the air.
I shot Thalia a fierce look, but she just kept laughing. I picked up my cell phone to call Percy. When he answered, I put him on speaker.
"Who's that crying?" Percy asked as soon as he answered.
"That's Hali." I told him. "You're, on speaker. Just letting you know."
"Hey Percy!" Thalia said.
"Hey Thalia, Annabeth, why is Hali crying?"
"Sophia, care to explain?" I asked.
"Hali's boyfriend broke up with her and she's to distraught to be able to partake in class." Sophia said.
Percy sighed. "Boyfriend? You're ten years old, Hali. You don't need a boyfriend."
"Well if I can't have one than neither can Sophia!" Hali cried.
"Sophia has one too? Gods…" He mumbled.
"Here's the best part. They're Travis and Katie's twin sons, Ryan and Thomas." Thalia snorted.
"You've got to be kidding me…" He sighed. "I'll be home in twenty minutes." He said.
