Otay in today's chapter we finish the beach scene and get some insight into the kidnapping. Keep reading, this gets good. I got a awesome surprise for y'all. Ha, that was impossible not to add :"y'all" This is a sad-ish chapter so be warned. Onto the chapter!

Libra POV

"So, what's your plan, Lib?" Fang asked, rolling on his side to look at me.

"Plan?" I said, surprised," oh right. Plan, well, um... I don't exactly have one. I was sort of messed up earlier." I blushed again.

Fang saw my face get red and patted my hand. It only made me blush more. Fang chuckled at this.

"So, okay. No plan. How bout some recon first? Go to Iowa, ask some questions, get some answers. Then we kick whoever's butt that took your friends." Fang said.

I turned away from Fang and answered, "Yeah." Hoping to God that my voice wouldn't crack. I rolled on my side, away from his face, so he couldn't see the tears I couldn't hold in. I was thinking of seeing my mom again, and being home again. I tried to keep my sobs silent, but I couldn't stop how my body shook with each sob.

"Lib, are you alright?" Fang whispered, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I sprung away from his hand and dove into the pond without a second thought. I let myself sink to the bottom. I breathed easily and let my sobs overwhelm me. It wasn't as satisfying to cry underwater. I saw a dark shape peer into the water, then it moved away. I felt bad for ditching Fang like that. It wasn't his fault that I had major emotional issues, what exactly can you expect from a fourteen year old mutant? He was just concerned, it was much more than I had ever gotten in the School. I gathered myself, relinquishing my sobs. I had to go back to Fang, he had come for me. I swam effortlessly to the surface and rose onto the shore. I found Fang staring at the stars above, he hadn't heard me come back.

"Orion is a warrior, like you." I said softly.

Fang sat up and glanced at me, probably noticing my dry clothes. "Come again?"

"I said, Orion is a warrior, like you." I sat next to him and pointed at the constellation with the three stars in a row, "That's his belt, see? That's how you know it's him."

Fang nodded, lying on his back. He asked more about the stars and I told him all I knew. The last I showed him was Pegasus, the winged horse. He chuckled at this.

"Now, I don't feel like a mutant. I feel for the horse with wings."

I smiled and was silent for a bit. I expected Fang to fall asleep after I stopped talking, but his breathing never changed. I felt his hand grasp mine between where we lay in the sand. I stifled a sudden gasp, but I relaxed. It was a bit cold so I moved closer to Fang to keep warm. He sighed and wrapped one arm around my shoulders.

"'Night, Fang." I whispered.

"Goodnight, Valla." Fang said, I could hear the smile in his voice.

Soon his breaths slowed and I knew he was asleep. I watched him for a moment then closed my own eyes. I knew our search began tomorrow.

Laron POV

Laron opened his eyes to a sterile smell in the air and dog crates. A man with gray hair and glasses, in a lab coat, was staring him down.

"Where am I? Who're you? What do you want?" Laron yelled, pushing at the bars of the crate.

" I think you'll do wonderfully to return our Libra. Ari?" the man said.

Libra? Laron only had a moment to think because a real ugly face filled his face and then everything was black.

Fang POV

Fang had fallen asleep lying real close to Libra. A: Because it was chilly and B: Because she had run away from him crying and he felt really bad. This girl was a major train wreck and she needed a steady hand to feel safe with. Fang knew he could provide that.

Now, Libra was curled up next to him as dawn broke, he felt starved. He nudged Libra and pulled away from her gently. He had food for them in the pack he'd brought.

"Mmm, Fang? What're you doin'?" Libra mumbled, sitting up.

"C'mon, up and at 'em. You hungry?" Fang asked, smiling at her.

"Mm-hm, really." Libra nodded, crawling over to Fang.

Fang pulled a bunch of tidbits from the pack and he and Libra ate til they were happy. Libra must've been starved worse than Fang, she said she hadn't eaten since she escaped the School.

"Libra, how old are you?" Fang asked, suddenly.

"Fourteen. I think, dunno how long I was in the School. I was thirteen when they took me." she replied and a slightly pained look crossed her face, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

Fang was silent again. He was trying to contact Angel to say he'd found Libra and that they were safe.

"Fang? Did the flock say you could come or did you just leave?" Libra asked, breaking his concentration.

"Well, I sorta left. Ig wanted to come too, but Max wouldn't have it." Fang answered reluctantly.

"Oh," Libra chuckled," I guess that kinda makes sense. So, Iggy really wanted to come?"

"Yeah, I think he like that you can make him see. That really sets him off, like he was majorly bummed when Max said he couldn't come."

Libra stared out over the pond and stood up. Fang stood, copying her. He followed her gaze out to the pond and stepped closer to Libra. She seemed to feel his presence and inched away from him.

"Let's get a move on," she said suddenly, " we got a long way to fly."

She quickly pushed off from the ground, sky rocketing straight up. Fang watched for a moment, then slowly followed her. She was oddly silent throught the entire trip. Fang wondered why.

Libra POV

I kept quiet on our flight, staying away from Fang. Whenever his gaze strayed my way I made sure mine was averted. I loved Fang's company, don't get me wrong; this closeness thing was just getting to me. I was still mending my own heart, I didn't need to worry about someone else's. And beside's who knew how long I'd live, I'd give my own freakish life for Fang or Laron or anyone.

There was that name again, I couldn't push it from my thoughts. Everytime I thought of him I felt as if I were being torn in two, as if the whitecoats had me running mazes again. He had been all I thought of when my body was mutilated and put through agonizing pain. I kept thinking Just get through it, for Laron. Don't die, find a way back to him. He had been my best friend for so long. I had promised I'd find a way back. It was my mission, my hope, my only optimistic thought when I was at the School.

At least until the whitecoats showed me the very thing that broke my heart. A man named Jeb came in the room, where I was held by a dog crate, trailed by a massive Eraser pushing a television. The screen lit up blue. Jeb spoke up.

"Hello Libra. I have noticed your rather hopeful attempts at escape, because of your "friends". Let me tell you this, it is worthless. You will never escape, besides they do not care anymore."

The television screen lit up with a video, it depicted my three friends sitting in our usual spot at the local park. They seemed at ease, even with my disappearence.

"Man, anyone else feel weird without Val here?" Laron asked, putting his hands behind his head.

"Not really, you Matt?" Beth laughed.

"Mmm, nah." he said, closing the book he held.

Beth played with a strand of her dark curly hair. She sat on the bottom of a kiddie slide that was next to a big oak tree. Matt sat on the bench across from the slide, he still had the book he carried with him. Laron was leaning against the tree, looking quite at ease.

"You know, it's been a lot more quieter without her." Beth said, breaking the sudden silence.

""Quieter Beth. Not more quieter." Matt quipped.

"Oh, buzz off Matt. You know I don't care." Beth growled, playfully.

"I know, that's why I said it. But yes I agree."

"Shut up, you two! All you do is bicker." Laron hissed, Beth and Matt became silent,"Look, we'll do much better without Val. Don't even think of 'er anymore, and it's only been three days." Laron continued.

Beth nodded, closing her eyes as the sun peeked out of the clouds. Matt just leaned back, propping open the novel again. Laron got a distressed look on his face and chucked a handful of rocks and gravel over Matt's head, spraying the novel along with Matt.

"Hey, watch it, jerk!" Matt yelled.

The television screen went snowy. I smiled a bit, seeing my friends acting the way they always did. Though, it put a pang in my heart to see them disregard my disappearence so easily.

"No," I groaned, "that's not real. It's a lie."

Jeb smiled a sickly fake smile and shook his head. The Eraser sneered, enjoying my pain and loss of hope.

"I'm sorry, Libra." Jeb lied," I don't want it to be true."

He and the Eraser left the room, pulling the tv with them. Leaving me alone to decipher the video, that was the night my heart broke beyond repair.

"Libra? You okay?" a voice snapped me from my thoughts.

It was Fang, I nodded not wanting to speak yet. My momentary flashback had shaken me.

"You sure? You looked upset."

Fang flew beside me and held my hand. It felt good to have something tying me to the present, so my past couldn't sneak up on me again. Suddenly, I felt unnaturally tired. I touched my free hand to my temple, a small throbbing pain started there. Fang seemed to be concerned, flying closer.

"Let's land," I murmured," I need a second."

Fang and I touched down in a field somewhere in Nebraska, well he touched down, I sort of collapsed. More from pain than lack of skill.

"Libra!" Fang called out, he ditched his pack and rushed to my side.

"No, set up camp. I'm fine." I lied, still holding my head.

"But-" Fang protested.

"No," I pleaded," please? Just give me a minute, I've got this."

Fang backed off, still wary. I hated refusing his help, I knew it was only because he cared. I tried to throw away the persistant ache in my head, but it just wouldn't go away. It hurt like hell, wasn't the worst thing I'd felt though.

Fang POV

Fang backed away, reluctantly. He had been watching her throughout the flight and she seemed weaker and weaker as they got farther and farther. He had become worried and inched closer to her; she had not noticed or moved away from him so he knew something wasn't right. He kept an eye on her as he set up a mixmatch camp. There wasn't much to set up, anyway. He couldn't help but notice when Libra finally settled down. She sat up straight, removing her hands from her temple. She opened her eyes, though her silver eyes were filled with pain and fear.

"Lib, what's wrong?" Fang asked, he refused to listen to some excuse.

"I'm just worried, I'm too late." she whispered.

"Don't be," Fang said sternly, sitting in front of Libra, forcing her to look at him," we will make it. I promise."

Libra wrapped her arms around Fang's neck, thanking him. Fang stiffened, but then wrapped his arms around her too.

"Well, isn't this a touching scene to walk into?" a voice laughed.

Fang spun ready for Erasers or something worse. Libra was also on her feet, all fear gone, replaced by fury and determination. Damn, Fang thought, those eyes were really something.

"Dude, calm down. It's just me." a very familiar boy cried, holding up his hands up.

"Iggy!" Libra cried, running forward to hug the blind pyro.

He seemed surprised at first, but he hugged her back. Iggy patted her short hair and said he was happy to see her too. Fang smiled, something he'd been doing more often lately (hmm?), and walked over to them. He punched Iggy's arm after Libra had released her grip on him.

"Good to see ya, man. Didn't Max make you stay there?" he laughed.

"I snuck out while they slept, and is this Fang, Mr. Dark and Silent laughing? What have you done with the real Fang?" Iggy asked, smiling himself.

"I guess I've changed." Fang shrugged, "Bad thing?"

"Of course not!" Iggy and Libra said at the exact same time. Iggy turned in Libra's direction and asked, "What? You're a telepath too?"

Libra giggled. "Nope, sorry. Great minds think alike, I guess."

Iggy cackled his maniac laugh, "Yeah, listen to this girl, Fang. I got a great mind."

"Just keep telling yourself that, buddy. Some day it just might come true." Fang said, cuffing Iggy's shoulder.

They all laughed and went off to their own things. Iggy and Libra laughed together, as Libra showed him more images. Fang couldn't help but feel a bit odd watching them. Hmm? Was he changing? Was it a bad thing? Food for thought...

Otay, what a chapter? Some Fang and Libra moments and the return of our favorite blind pyro, Iggy. This should prove to be rather interesting. R&R it'd make my day. Thanks again to Whisper13 and JustAPerson for reviewing last time. I'll update tomorrow, promise. I think, so maybe not a promise. Review! Just press the little pretty button!
