Iggy POV
Iggy laughed with Libra, she was listening to his flock stories. Unfortunately, he couldn't see her but he heard her laughter and could feel her excitement rolling off her in waves. She held his hand, to let him know she was there, though it wasn't needed. He loved the feel of her hand, it was scarred and calloused like all of them, but he felt the blood pulsing beneath the thin layer of skin. When Libra blushed, the heat even reached her fingertips.
"Oh, Iggy. What happened after that?" Libra whispered.
Iggy was telling her a particularly thrilling story of how he and the Gasman had once blew up their room and Max had totally kicked their butts for the next week.
"Well, once the indestructable Max beat us, right away," Iggy told her dramatically," she told us we'd be regretting this for the rest of our lives. Gazzy and I just laughed, of course. That pushed Max to the edge. She was about to fling us into the next county when," he jerked his head in Fang's direction," Fang here saved our butts. Told Max that we were just kids. First time Silent Boy ever stuck up for me."
"Oh, Fang. Did you really?" Libra gushed, enjoying the story.
Fang must've nodded, cause Iggy didn't hear him say anything. Iggy knew he was probably just sitting there, totally brooding, while Iggy entertained Libra.
"Yeah, then Mr. Pyro had to bunk with me and Gazzy with Angel. Not exactly a reward for me, eh, Ig?" Fang finally spoke.
Iggy smiled, he was back to regular unoptimistic sarcastic Fang. "Hey, you didn't have to save my butt from Maxie."
"Yes, I did. She would have murdered you two. Think I wanna live with the murderer of an eight year old?" Fang growled.
Iggy figured Fang's face was probably annoyed and tired of him. Iggy just smiled and he felt Libra's grip on his hand tighten. She must have something to say.
"Iggy? What's it like to be blind?" she asked.
Iggy knew it was just another innocent question to her, but his sight was always a touching subject. Iggy thought he heard Fang gasp at Libra's question, but he must've imagined it cause Fang just doesn't gasp or smile or laugh. Okay, something was seriously up here. Not normal, oh wait, Libra was still waiting for an answer. He sighed.
"Never mind, forget I asked." Libra said quietly, her voice suddenly afraid.
"No, it's fine," Iggy said, touching Libra's shoulder. He felt her look at him," it's like always having your eyes closed. I just can't see the light that comes through my closed eyelids. It's not really that bad. I just wish I could see the flock, I've only seen Max and Fang, but that was years ago." Iggy sighed a bit dramatically.
Then Libra did exactly what Iggy had hoped for, she put her hands on his head. He automatically closed his eyes, kinda knowing what was coming.
"Max." Libra whispered.
Then in his mind, like a photo, he saw a tall girl with brown hair, filled with blond streaks. She had brown eyes, like her hair, that showed unmatched determination. She wore a t-shirt and jeans and a windbreaker. She wore an annoyed scowl on her face that almost made Iggy laugh. The image faded.
"Fang."
He saw the tall guy, black hair dark eyes. All black clothes, just as Iggy had pictured him. Then the image faded to the same guy smiling instead of an indifferent expression. Must be the "new Fang". The side Libra saw.
"Gazzy."
There was his little pyro sidekick. His blond hair short and messy. He had bright blue eyes, sparkling with mischeif. Just like Iggy had taught him. Cute kid, wish he could see him everyday.
"Nudge."
The motormouth, bad enough to cause ear bleeds. She had light brown skin and eyes to match. Her hair was a bit darker than her skin. She wore all designer clothes, imagine that. Iggy tried hard not to roll his eyes at this.
"Angel."
Then Iggy finally saw his little girl, Max's little girl, everyone's girl. She smiled at him, her blond curls bouncing. Her eyes were a brighter clearer blue than Gazzy's. She was beautiful for such a little kid. Iggy expected the show to be over now, but Libra surprised him by whispering, almost unheard.
"Iggy..."
He saw himself. Lost, blue eyes, ginger hair. Goofy smile, did he really look like that? But, he sensed a bit of emotion linked to the image Libra showed him. What was it? He couldn't tell. That's when Libra's hands fell away from his hair. She sighed and so did he. He was a little confused when he felt her hand touch his cheek. Iggy raised his own hand to cover hers. She blushed again, and he felt it in her fingertips. (He wasn't kidding). Iggy could feel Libra's sweet breath on his face. She smelled like salt water and light smoke, like a candle, and was that lavender he detected? It was a glorious combination.
Libra paused and was extremely silent, as if she were listening. The only thing Iggy could hear was Fang's light breathing from where he slept in the corner. He'd been out for a while. Libra leaned forward and Iggy had only a millisecond to wonder what the hell she was doing, that's when he felt it. She brushed her lips over his, a quick feather like kiss. Then she pulled away just as quick. She also removed her hand.
"I'll take watch," she said quickly, her voice distant. She had moved far away," Get some sleep, Iggy."
Iggy was too stunned to do anything. He just lay back, he pretended to sleep. Only to humor Libra. He'd never get any sleep after that little show. What was that anyway? He had no clue what even brought that about. Talk about weird...
Libra POV
Dammit, I thought, Dammit! What the hell did I just do?
But I knew perfectly well what I had done, I had kissed Iggy. Just out of the blue, one minute I was showing him images and the next I was kissing him. I knew full why, too. He looked too much like Laron. The last time we'd played the vision game, before I ran away, I had ended it with a quick kiss that turned into so much more.
"You got it wrong again! It was Alaska, you dodo." I teased, cuffing Laron's shoulder.
"Well, darn. What clues did I miss?" he laughed, his emerald eyes alight.
"Well, let's see... dog sled. Then, snow and coast line. Oh, yeah and the part about not being part of the continental U.S.!" I laughed, keeping my voice teasing," And you guessed..."
"Antartica! God, I'm stupid." Laron said, putting his face in his hands.
"You're not stupid, just slow on the up take." I said, softer and I smiled at him.
He pushed a piece of his long red hair from his face, still smiling widely. We sat crosslegged, in my backyard, facing each other. Within reaching distance. I put my hand on the side of his face and he closed his eyes, thinking it was a new round of the game. Here's your chance, I thought, so I took it.
I leaned in and kissed his smiling lips. He started to pull away, startled, but then he kissed me back. It felt wonderful. I pulled away and we stared at each other shocked and elated at the same time. Then Laron was called away. He gave me a wistful smile before leaving. That was the last time I saw him in person, I ran away the next day. I felt bad for the cliffhanger for him, but I couldn't change the past.
I pulled myself from the sentimental flashback and returned to the issue at hand. I had kissed Iggy! Ugh, way to send the wrong message. I knew I had trouble on my hands, real trouble. Just to add to the worst news ever, that my best friends could be dead because of my stupidity and arrogance. Dammit! I really screwed up! I thought, trying desperately to fall into the darkness of sleep to escape this horrible nightmare.
Let me know what you think, this chapter was hard to write. It's supposed to be really complicated. Let me know your thoughts. Review! Please!
