Okay, so this chapter does not include Sadie having an actually nightmare but as I know from experience, once you "train" yourself to deal with nightmares "quietly" (ie, not waking up screaming, sobbing etc.) its so ingrained into you there are only a few things that can mess up the "training". One of these things just so happens to be painkillers. See, at least for me, if I take painkillers (and I don't mean like advil or something, I mean like strong, hard to get painkillers) then for the next like three days I can't handle nightmares "quietly". I know the likelyhood of Sadie either reciving or needing painkillers is rather low but I needed it to go with the plot, ergo, this chapter was written!

COOK13 QU33N: Okay, 1st, love the name! Second, I prefer Sanubis over Salt but I don't know about everyone else so I though i'd ask. Last, that is why I have yet to see Jaws.

Broadway4eva: I'll take it you like broadway? As I said, I prefer Sanubis (though it horrible to type that more then once!) but I didn't know if others prefered Salt so I asked. Please don't plummet to your death though, it would be bad. Glad you're excited for this story, hope you contunie to like it!

Animal Charmer 11: A lot of people can't mae sense of their dreams, truthfully? I'd prefer that over nightmares but, oh well! Sorry you have to deal with nightmares as well, they're annoying aren't they? Glad you enjoy the story, hope it still is to your liking, and I kinda, really want to write one where Sadie and Carter are still small and she has a nighmare, kinda like a prequal, would you read it if i did?

LiveLaughLoveReadForever: Love the name! Hope you contunie to like the story!

razzle-dazzle1606: Glad you really like it! Hope you still do!

Disclaimer: Yeah, I totally spend my time writting fanfic when I'm the owner of the Kane Chronicals, totally likely! NOT!

Okay, so as I mentioned earlier, this chapter doesn't actually have a nightmare in it. It does however involve attacking penguins! I needed to get Sadie on painkillers so i was like, hey Felix (one of their initates) is obssed with penguins right? So lets get a rabid penguin! Enjoy!

After Sadie "dismissed" me (what else could call it?), I went up to my room and laid back down, but my mind was racing and I figured sleep would be highly unlikely. As I stared at the ceiling, little things popped into my head. Things that I should have noticed long, long ago.

The way that when Sadie came down she was already dressed.

The way Sadie sometimes was downstairs before me, dressed and ready for the day.

The tired expression my sister had some days.

The frequency with which she took naps during the day.

I mental kicked myself for not noticing the clues sooner, I guess Sadie, Jaz, Walt and pretty much everyone else (even Horus) were right, I had spent way too much time moping over Zia. So much that I hadn't noticed the signs of my little sister having nightmares. I sighed, promising myself I'd try to do better. I'd go back down and try to talk to her.

Maybe in a minute

Of course then I feel asleep.

I woke up to my alarm going off. The beeping stretched on for a minute and I mentally counted the second in my head

1, 2, 3, 4, 5,…..

"FELIX!"

I think it was Julian this time, but it could have been Sean.

What? It was early! How was I supposed to be able to tell the difference between a Boston and an Irish accent?

Felix, our youngest initiate -only nine- had a rather odd obsession with penguins and therefore had a tendency to summon them.

Did I mention he did it every morning?

No, I don't think I did. Sighing, I clambered out of bed and hurried downstairs to find Sadie, Felix, Julian and a very small, but very disgruntled looking penguin. (You think penguins can't look disgruntled? Trust me, they can!)

Sadie sighed as she glared at the penguin as if everything bad was its fault, then is shocking display of knowledge blurted out, "It's a South African Penguin."

I glanced out her, how did she know that?

She then added, "Previously known as the Jackass Penguin."

That explained it.

"Sadie!" Jaz gave Sadie a disapproving glance and Sadie through her hands up in the air.

"What? It's the truth!"

Jaz rolled her eyes but kept her mouth shut. Across the room, Julian and Walt (I hadn't noticed his entrance, but then again, for a guy that tall the kid could be as stealthy as a ninja) exchanged amused glances and Felix was currently chasing the penguin around the Great Room screaming something about hugging it.

Nothing new there.

I make my way down the stairs and Julian waves at me, "And good morning to you Carter!"

"Morning, I see our morning penguin debacle has already occurred." I immediately made a beeline for the kitchen, coffee wasn't something I drank until I had to deal with the problems that came with having a house full of kids.

Like penguins being imported from South Africa.

"Well nice to see you up!" the sarcasm in Sadie's voice was obvious but now that I knew to listen for it, I heard a note of exhaustion, I continued towards the kitchen, "Oh of course, go get breakfast, leave us to deal with the penguin, who knows it might be rabid!"

I rolled my eyes as I poured a cup of coffee only to drop the cup when Sadie cried out in pain and Felix shrieked (he's nine! Of course he shrieks!)

I whipped around to see the penguin latched onto my sister's arm. The words (well, expletives) coming out of her mouth would have, at any other time, made Jaz smack her hand over Sadie's mouth but right now the blond healer was too busy trying to pry the penguin off of the Sadie's arm.

Walt and Julian rushed over to help and got there about the same time that I did. And together the four of us (Felix was too busy shrieking still) got the penguin to let go. Sadie had gone rather pale by the time we got it off and Jaz immediately took her to the infirmary to heal her and then have her rest.

In hindsight giving Sadie painkillers and then having her sleep probably wasn't the best idea.

Well, I guess it's true that hindsight is 20/20.

And painful.

Okay so a few things. Yes, there is a kind of penguins called the South African penguin; Yes, thed truely used to be called the jackass penguin, I'm not making that up; Also, yes both Sean and Julian are mentioned in the Throne of Fire as initaes, Sean is from Dublin and Julian is from Boston. I have no idea what either looks like ergo, I don't describe Julian when he appears, sorry! Now, please tell me what you think with the magical God of making Authors write faster named Review.
