A little one-shot to prequel Some Heroes Come in Small Sizes. It's about how Alex decided to settle down and start a family. I hope you like it, and leave a review!

-George Moore
You always think you don't need something until you don't have it, right? I figured this out. It took me a while, but I figured it out. You see, I'm a spy. And not just any spy. I'm the teenage James Bond everyone dreams of being. But, let me give you some advice: change your dream. Now, I thought I wanted to be a spy, until I actually became one. Now I just want to be a janitor at some elementary school. It isn't the glamorous life movies make it out to be. You don't stay in a five star hotel every night with some hot chick you picked up. The reality is, life is tough, especially when you're a spy. It should have been an easy mission. Sneak in, don't get caught, plant the bug, don't get caught, get out, without getting caught or seen by anyone. Especially the leader. They are the worst. They always get mad at their henchmen for allowing you to get in. Then they kill them, make you watch, and apologize for you having to watch it. Seriously, this has happened so many times I need both hands to count.
So, there I was, tied to a chair (or so he thought), listening to him rant about what he's going to do to me (does he expect me to listen?), and waiting for my backup (AKA, distraction) to come so I could finally leave. I had remembered that tomorrow was Jack's birthday and that I still needed to get her a present. Kind of ironic. The spy that has a contingency plan for everything still hasn't bought a birthday present yet. I also realized something else. Even though this is my who-knows-how-many time to get caught (I'm not a bad spy, I'm not dead yet. They are just better than I'm expecting), there has always been something missing. And I've just figured it out. I need a family. I need Jack and I need my own family. I won't stay eighteen forever. I need to retire and settle down. The only thing is, last time I got close to a girl, she got killed and her dad was about ready to kill me. We've fixed things between us, though.
Speak of the devil, look who came through the door. At the same time my realization finished, the door got blown in and K-Unit came through, guns up and ready to shoot anything that wasn't me. I took the opportunity to to 'burst' out of my very poorly designed bonds and used the chair to whack the guy closest t me. He fell over with a loud thunk.
After exchanging some witty banter and kicking the bad guy's butt, we left them a very noisy and destructive Christmas present. and ran from the room. Just as we got out the front door, the grenade we threw in the room blew, taking a pretty good chunk of the building with it.
There was an ambulance waiting for me outside, but I waved it off. I needed to give the head of MI6 a piece of my mind and tell him I would take the benefits that came with retirement, and that he needed to find himself a new teenage spy. I had Jack to go back to and I needed to find a girl to settle down with before I became an old geezer at 20.
So, I have this idea for another Alex Rider story. He would go back to Brecon Beacons as an official SAS soldier, expecting your normal impossibly hard SAS traing, only to find that the US Navy SEALS are there too. I think it would be very...interesting for everyone involved. Leave a review to tell me what you think.
