The red sun prison is the second worst place for Kryptonians to be imprisoned, next to the phantom zone. This was no different for the current inmate it held, none other than Kara Zor-El herself.
As Kara regained consciousness, she saw herself under the red light pouring from the ceiling of the cell. She immediately realized Batman and herself has lost against her evil cousin, Kal-El, Superman. She still remembered vividly the way Superman insulted his own father and praised Zod in front of her.
"If Jor-El had been more like Zod, he might've saved Krypton. And I will save the Earth!"
This haunted Kara more than anything. It was the reminder of how far her cousin has fallen. And now, there was no hope for Earth, as her cousin had emerged victorious in the end. She blamed herself for freeing her cousin. If she had not freed him, Batman could have called the Superman duplicate who overthrew her cousin to stop brainiac, avoiding this very despair. However, her thought was cut of by the sound of the door opening in front of her, revealing Superman fused with Brainiac's technology.
"You bonded with Brainiac's ship...", she said horrified at his new look.
Superman wasn't bothered by her horrified look and replied.
"Brainiac is dead. The remaining cities have been restored, and just like I told you, Earth is at peace."
"Under your heel", Kara had no better way to reply, as she was reminded of her defeat, the defeat of hope.
"I wish you'd come around, Kara. I'm building a new army to protect the Earth. There are billions of warriors trapped in Brainiac's collection. Kryptonians, Daxamites, Czarnians... I'll have a legion whose power rivals the combined Lantern Corps. And I want you to lead it with me.", Superman proudly proposed an offer to Kara to join his cause, to be his enforcer.
Even though she was afraid, it was never the reason for her to accept this horrendous offer. She replied.
"Never, Kal."
Superman was disappointed by this. It was time to show her the best victory he claimed, as he said sternly, threatening his cousin.
"You'll either make the right choice, or I'll make it for you.", as his new weapon, the Black Oracle walked in, and stood next to Superman.
Kara could do nothing but to stare in horror, as she saw Batman, now perverted by her cousin.
"What's it going to be?", Superman asked Kara, giving her the last chance to join him.
She was now desperate, as she yelled.
"I will never serve you! You are not my cousin anymore. You are a monster, to everyone! I will never be your enforcer, or slave! Never!".
"Very well. Then I will send you to the very prison that is designed to hold criminals like you, the Phantom Zone. You have 3 days to change your mind. Otherwise, you will be stored in the phantom zone, as you watch me make the world safe." Superman said coldly, before walking away with the Black Oracle.
Victor Stone, Cyborg, was now having doubts. He never questioned Superman even when Superman killed Billy Batson for speaking without Superman's permission. But now, it wasn't right for him. After Superman's victory against Batman, Superman and himself went to retrieve Raven, the only alive member of the Titans. However, what they found was a slave to Trigon, because of her grief over the loss of her friends. They had no choice but to put her down for good, as Superman placed Raven under the same device which controlled Batman. He saw Superman come to him, probably delivering his order.
"How did it go with Kara?", Victor asked.
"It was disappointing. She defied the best proposal I could ever make for her. Now, she is going to face the consequences. Go check the phantom zone and get rid of any potential threats which could harm her." Superman ordered.
"You are going to store your cousin there?", Victor asked.
Superman was irritated by the sign of hesitation, as he said.
"Indeed. This will serve as an example for these insurgents who keeps attacking strykers. Now go!"
Victor had no choice. It was the only option left for them to make the world safe, without crime. It was a retribution for his fellow Titans who died in Metropolis. He went to check on the phantom zone, as he searched through its inmates.
"Need to check whether the collar on Doomsday is still intact... wait...". Cyborg was now checking through the recording, as he was faced with the horrible truth.
The Titans, Starfire, Cassie Sandsmark, Superboy, did not die in Metropolis. They were sent to the phantom zone by none other than his master! And Tim Drake was killed by Zod, because Superman sent him there. He realized, he was not avenging his friends. He was making them suffer in the phantom zone, while licking his master's boot.
Victor clenched his robotic fists as he murmured.
"He will pay... He will fucking pay!!". He now knew what exactly happened to his friends, and Raven was turned into a slave of her bastard father because he didn't realize what Superman had done to their friends. It was time to avenge his friends properly.
Cyborg returned to Superman's throne room, and reported.
"Doomsday was in the phantom zone. However, that thing is still under the control of the collar. It will not be a threat to Kara."
"Good... Now all we have to do is to sent Kara there. No one, not even my cousin, can disrupt my order and get away with it. Now, return to guarding Kara's cell. She is not to be broken out by the insurgent scums." Superman ordered, without knowing Victor's decision to turn on him.
Supergirl had sat in her cell, powerless. All she could do was curse herself, until a familiar voice was heard.
"Cyborg? Still following the abomination?" Kara asked coldly.
Cyborg did not answer, instead he reached to the control panel of her cell, hacking into the system. The next thing she saw was the door of the cell opening.
"Did Kal decide to send me already? Then do it! It's still better than being his slave!" Kara spat.
"I am neither sending you there or placing you under mind control. Now follow me and we will get out of here!" Victor whispered into her ear as he pulled her out.
They ran as fast as they could. Supergirl was still confused by the turn of events, as she asked.
"What made you to turn your back on Kal?"
"I discovered that he was lying to me all those years, as he did to you. He told me all my friends died in Metropolis. But some of them weren't, they were sent to the phantom zone by him! One of them even died in there! I couldn't forgive myself for following that monster I now realized." Cyborg replied as they got out of the prison building.
Kara was now under the yellow sun, as her powers returned to her. She saw the insurgent group approaching, one of them being Tamaranean. However, their escape did not go unnoticed, as Wonder Woman appeared.
Victor felt overwhelming guilt when he saw Kori, who was imprisoned in the darkness, all because of him. Kara and he reached to her, passing Kara to the insurgents.
"Victor?" Kori asked in disbelief, because Cyborg was one of the most royal enforcers of Superman.
"Kori. I'm so sorry. But I need you to know that I didn't know what happened to you. But now I do, and I am going to do the right thing. Take Kara to your base. I will hold her off." Cyborg said as he pointed at Wonder Woman.
"What do you mean?" Kara asked in wonder. However, Kori knew exactly what he meant, as she signed in sadness.
"Goodbye, Kori." Cyborg said in the softest voice he had ever uttered, as he charged into Wonder Woman.
"Traitor!!" Wonder Woman unleashed her battle cry as she dodged Cyborg's blast from his cannon with ease. She threw her lasso toward the blast and captured Cyborg's arm. Cyborg was pulled toward her. Wonder Woman then stabbed the arm cannon with her sword, disabling it.
"Going to enslave me Diana?" Cyborg asked Wonder Woman, defeated.
"Sadly not. Even with Brainiac's technology, your cybernetics cannot be controlled. The only option I have left, is to end you for good." Wonder Woman replied as she ripped off Cyborg's legs. Kara, from the insurgent jet, saw Cyborg getting torn apart.
"Nooo!" Kara screamed, as Wonder Woman beheaded Cyborg, killing the person beside Batman who saved her from Superman. Kori held Kara tight, as they grieved the loss of their friend, as tears ran down from their eyes.
