Chapter I
The Assignment
Once there was a ninja so great that he was considered to be the best of his era. A ninja known as a Jinchuriki of the most powerful tailed beast under the Ten Tails. This ninja was prophesied by a sage to be the key for world peace. Almost everyone was happy with this revelation, one woman wasn't. She wanted that prophecy to be false. So she changed the hero into a terrible monster. She claimed that she was the only one who can restore him, but he attacked her and killed her. The monster's father then made several seals, seals that would make the monster and his three friends immortal and the chakra needed to restore him to humanity would be placed into another individual. Soon after the entire village was forced to relocate due to the monster giving no peace. The father's heart was broken for his son. Then he ordered his three immortal friends with three tasks. One was to tell the truth, one was to find the one who can restore the monster to humanity, and the last friend was to protect those who entered his layer that weren't immortal.
(100 years later)
Hinata Hyūga was a shy, yet beautiful young woman who was known for her gentle nature. She was kind and friendly to those who spoke to her. As long as they didn't anger her. She didn't know why but when someone said something that offended her, she would immediately become pissed and start beating the living shit out of them. It earned her the nickname "The Gentle Lioness." She was very popular amongst the boys of her home village of Konoha. Many often chased after her in the hopes of winning her heart. All of them failed, miserably.
What people didn't know about the Hyūga was that she read the old books surrounding the Fourth Hokage. Who had to relocate the village in order to save its inhabitants from the terrible Kyuubi monster. She knew very little of the Kyuubi other than it's primary targets were women. That made her flinch a little bit. She didn't like the description of the Kyuubi, but she knew that it was only in a certain direction. Yet there's something odd about it. Hinata couldn't place her finger on it but she knew that the stories of the Kyuubi were wrong. She also found herself fascinated by the Kyuubi and the Fourth's son who, according to the history books, died battling the monster. She was drawn to him more than anything else. It was said that he was carefree, powerful, friendly, kind, and determined. He wanted to be a Hokage like his father but he never got to able to live up to his dream.
Hinata was talking with a certain young man named Kiba Inuzuka. Kiba was brash and full of himself, he often called himself an "alpha male that was in need of an alpha female." And to him, Hinata was that female. Hinata didn't like Kiba at all. To her, he was a prick and it triggered her when he made fun of her interest in the old books. She had sent him to the hospital multiple times just for that. "Hinata, why won't you just go out with me? I mean I'll be Hokage one day." "No Kiba, I don't want to." "Come on..." His voice was trailing off as he saw Ino run up to the two of them. "HINATA, KIBA, THE HOKAGE NEEDS YOU!!!" She turned and ran. The two ran to catch up and found the Hokage, Tsunade, in her office concerned and upset. Tenten, Temari, and Sakura were also present. "Good thing you three arrived when you did. Kakashi-Sensei was on a mission with his team when they got attacked by a monster." The ninjas eyes went wide. "This monster is familiar with us, you all have heard of the Kyūbi?" The group nodded. "I thought it was made up." Kiba said. "Well it's not, it's real and we need to kill it. The Kyūbi lives near our most important routes to and from the village. If it comes out of its layer, it will decimate everything." "I know that there won't be a lot of trouble with it. It's at least 100years old and is probably weak by this point. I only need, Hinata, Kiba, Tenten, Temari, and Sakura for this mission. They will be more than powerful enough to kill it." Tsunade said as she sipped her sake. The assigned group shifted nervously, except for Kiba. He knew that it was his chance to prove everything he said about himself and make Hinata his future wife once and for all. The group bowed before leaving. "One last thing, you need to find Jiraiya, he lives in a hut in the forest. He knows everything you need to know about the Kyūbi."
