Wherever you may find yourself, chances are Pokemon will be there too.
That includes the Kalos Region's Lumiose City, home to the Sycamore Pokemon Lab. Here, our story begins.
Sycamore Pokemon Lab (Day)
In one of the guest bedrooms, a blonde teenage boy was getting ready for a big trip. The boy was dressed in a red jacket, a white undershirt, and torn jeans. On his hand was a Mega Glove, which held a Key Stone needed for Mega Evolution.
"I can't wait." the boy said to himself as he packed his things into a bag. "It's been a while since I got to see a new Region. Are you as excited as I am?" On the bed, a Sylveon was laying down. Hearing its trainer, the Pokemon got up and wrapped a feeler around his arm. After a few seconds, it let out a cry of excitement, its clear blue eyes seemingly glowing. "Thought so." the boy said, petting Sylveon's head.
"Dominic, it's time to head to the airport!" Professor Sycamore said from downstairs.
"Coming!" Dominic shouted back. "Sylveon, let's go." he said to the Pokemon as he left the room, Sylveon following after him. He was accompanying the professor to Unova on a business trip to meet two of his colleagues.
Flight 64 (Day)
"The Unova Region." Dominic said, excited as he gazed out the plane's window. "I bet there are tons of strong trainers there. What do you think, Raichu?" To answer his question, the Electric-Type jumped up and down with glee on his lap. "Okay, I get it, you're happy. But my legs can only take so much!" the blonde shouted, stopping the Mouse Pokemon at least for the next two minutes.
"Don't worry. You'll get your fill of battles there." Sycamore said, petting Raichu's head. "Unova's also filled with Pokemon you've never seen before, not in Kalos, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Galar, or Paldea."
"Sounds like fun." Dominic said, smiling. "I really hope we get there after the next Line Break."
Airport Dock (Day)
"I WAS RIGHT!" the blonde yelled as he got off the plane, making sure to keep away from the water. After safely getting to terra firma, he got out three Poke Balls. "Come out!" he said, tossing them into the air. They popped open, releasing Sylveon, Aegislash, and Charizard. The boy turned to the vast body of land before him, and began walking alongside Raichu, Sylveon, and Aegislash to follow Sycamore to the airport. However, Charizard stayed on the dock. "Hey! What are you doing?" Dominic asked his partner, running back to the Flame Pokemon.
As he ran, a brightly colored fish Pokemon leapt out of the water. It looked similar to Luvdisc, but the blonde could tell it was a different species.
"Oh, a new Pokemon! Charizard, use Air Sla-" The boy was cut off when the unmistakable sound of thunder roared from above him. He, along with the rest of his Pokemon, stared at the sky as a pure white cloud engulfed in flames and lightning appeared in the air. "What on Remnant is that? A Pokemon?" Suddenly, without any warning, a gigantic stream of fire descended from the heavens and struck Dominic and Charizard.
Both trainer and Pokemon felt the heat seep into their very souls, forcing their auras to activate, covering their bodies in a bright red light. Charizard, unable to contain its internal flame, and launched a Fire Blast into the sky in hopes to strike its attacker. Unfortunately, the Move fizzled out uselessly before getting anywhere near the mystery Pokemon. Dominic watched this happen, filled with rage at the being that dared hurt his friend. His eye burned crimson as he tried to make out the Pokemon in the clouds.
It was large, with glowing blue eyes. It had two large horns covered in vast white fur, and a massive tail that was giving of unrivaled amounts of Fire Energy. As if sensing that Dominic saw it, the Pokemon flew further into the sky and vanished without a trace.
With the flames no longer assaulting them, Charizard and Dominic stared at eachother before looking back upward at where the mysterious Pokemon was. "What kind of Pokemon was that?" the boy asked. The Fire-Type shook its head, unable to answer. Despite this, both of them had a new goal for their trip in Unova.
They would find that Pokemon, and challenge it to a battle.
"DOMINIC!" Sycamore cried out, running down the dock. "Are you alright? That looked intense."
"We're fine. Nothing a nap can't fix." the boy said, cracking his neck as the other members of his team surrounded him.
"Are you absolutely sure?" the professor asked, worried for his pupil.
"Don't worry. You know Charizard and I have dealt with worse. Right, pal?" Dominic said, turning to the reptilian. Charizard gave a loud roar, showing that it was in perfect shape. Although, it did sneeze out a tiny ember at the end.
"If you're sure..." Sycamore said, conceding. "Still, that was weird. What kind of Pokemon could do that?"
"Ah, Professor Sycamore! Nice to see you again." a voice said from behind them. Turning around, Sycamore and Dominic were face-to-face with Professor Oak and Professor Juniper. Beside the elderly man was a young man, likely 18 or 19.
The teenager was wearing a burgundy hoodie, a royal blue undershirt, jeans, and red sneakers. His eyes widened once they saw Dominic. "Uh, are you okay?"
"I feel fine. Why do you ask?" the blonde responded.
"Because your hair is on fire." the teenager deadpanned.
Putting a hand to his scalp, Dominic did indeed feel flames on his cranium. "Sorry, that happens sometimes. Side-effect of being in the eye of an unnatural fire tornado." he said, patting his head to put out the unwanted heat. "I'm Dominic, nice to meet you."
The young man smiled and gave a chuckle at the blonde's antics. "I'm Colt. Colt Ketchum."
