Professor Juniper's Pokemon Pregnancy

Chapter 1 – Message

Juniper awoke with a start and looked around. It was early morning and she was in her bedroom. She wiped some of the sleep from her eyes as she tried to regain her senses.

That's the third time in a row she thought, thinking back on the weird dream she had experienced yet again. Was it all real? she wondered. Although by this point, she had very little room for doubt.

Looking at the nearby clock, Juniper got out of bed. She would have to be at work before long. She quickly dressed herself in her usual work outfit: a white sleeveless top, a short green skirt, two comfortable sneakers, and of course, her long white lab coat. She had always loved this outfit; she found it struck a fine balance between stylish and professional, and personally she thought it was quite comfortable too. She soon jumped in her car and started driving towards the lab.

Juniper, more widely known as "Professor Juniper", was a young woman living in Nuvema Town, located in the southeast of the Unova region. The town was fairly small, and was surrounded mostly by forest. Despite its size, the town still contained many of the necessities you could find in a city: stores, a Pokemon Center, a hospital, restaurants, movie theater, etc. To some, it may not seem like much, but to Juniper, it was home.

The most notable feature of the town was the Pokemon Lab. Many novice trainers would travel here in order to receive guidance as well as gear and a starter Pokemon in order to begin their Pokemon journeys. As a somewhat well-known Pokemon professor and researcher, Juniper headed up the Lab and oversaw all its activities. Some of her duties included teaching new trainers about Pokemon, as well as showing them how to catch them and raise them. She also raised Pokemon herself, although they usually belonged to trainers that sent them to her for safekeeping. Things could be pretty busy at the lab at times, but Juniper had a handful of lab assistants to aid her in the tasks.

Aside from that, she mostly dedicated her time to the study of Pokemon, specifically the origins of Pokemon. Pokemon were a mysterious and constantly evolving phenomenon; at times it felt like there was no end to their secrets. But that's what Juniper was here for. To discover and study new things about Pokemon in order to understand them better.

Understand them she thought as she absent-mindedly continued her morning drive. I'm not sure I understand anything…

Juniper couldn't help but think back to her recurring dream she had been having the last few nights. At first, she thought it had just been a strange occurrence, something her mind had conjured while she was unconscious. However, the following night, she had the same dream again, and she started to wonder if the dream actually held some kind of meaning behind it. The third and most recent time only confirmed her suspicions. Surely, she was experiencing this for a reason.

Juniper remembered the dream vividly…

Juniper was walking in a white, misty landscape. She could hardly see anything around her, everything was obscured by the mist. All she could see was that she was walking on a white flat surface.

The only other thing that caught Juniper's attention was her clothing. She was currently wearing a pure white gown that fell to her bare feet. The garment was sleeveless, leaving her arms and shoulders exposed. She had no idea where the gown had come from, or who it belonged to, but she did notice that it fit her perfectly.

Juniper continued to walk forward. She didn't know why she was walking, but she felt compelled to keep moving. Before long, a deep voice called out from the mist.

"Come further…"

Juniper heard the voice come from up ahead of her. It had sounded commanding and almost ancient. Juniper proceeded on.

Eventually, the mist started to clear, and Juniper could see in front of her. She could now see the owner of the voice, but it was still shrouded, as if it was far away. She could see the outline of a four-legged creature, standing at nearly twice her height, perhaps even more. She presumed it was a Pokemon, but she had trouble identifying its obscure form.

Juniper took a few more steps forward, and then stopped as if it was instinct. The voice soon called out again.

"Aurea Juniper…"

Juniper felt a little surprised to hear her full name. Even though her first name was "Aurea", most people simply referred to her as "Juniper" or "Professor". Those close to her might even call her "June", but she knew very few people that referred to her by her first name.

"Who are you?" she called out. "How do you know me?"

The voice spoke again, slow, but loud. "I am the Alpha. I am one who emerged from nothing. I am the shaper of the world."

All of these titles jumped around in Juniper's head, sounding familiar, but for some reason she couldn't think straight. She felt like the mist was obscuring her thoughts as well as her vision.

"I have a task to ask of you…" the voice boomed.

Juniper was a little surprised. "What do you want from me?"

"You must carry it…"

"Carry it?" asked Juniper, sounding a little scared. "What do you mean?"

"The infant, born of egg, born of woman. The one to save many from impending doom…"

On the last word, the voice rang out like a low note. Juniper didn't respond. She didn't know what to say. Instead, she just stood there and shivered a little.

"Come find me," the voice soon instructed. "Meet me in the forest on the west side of Nuvema Town…Come find me, Aurea Juniper…"

The last words of the voice echoed in Juniper's head over and over. One hundred times. One thousand times. The misty landscape soon started to spin around her, and Juniper felt herself plummeting, only to land in her bed and awake with a start…

Juniper shook her head in an attempt to clear her thoughts. What was the meaning behind this recurring dream? This was the third night in a row in which she experienced it, so she assumed it held some type of meaning. At the very least, this certainly wasn't a normal phenomenon. The voice had instructed her to go into the forest, but did that mean that she should just blindly trust the voice? A voice she had heard in her dreams of all things?

As she dwelled on these thoughts, Juniper drove past a sign that held the town's slogan: The Start of Something Big! Juniper just stifled an uneasy feeling as she drove on.

As the day progressed, Juniper's thoughts kept returning to her dream. She couldn't help but ponder who she was speaking with, what the voice meant, and why she was experiencing this to begin with. After deliberating for a while, she soon arrived at a possible solution.

I believe that voice belonged to a Pokemon, that four-legged creature. And it's clearly trying to contact me through my dreams. I know that some Pokemon have the ability to act though the dreams of others, but that still doesn't explain the meaning of this dream…

I wonder if Fennel would know…

Fennel was another Pokemon professor that lived a few towns over, and was one of Juniper's closest friends. She specialized in the study of Pokemon dreams, so something like this would surely be right up her alley.

When Juniper had some spare time, she gave Fennel a call. Once she answered, Juniper gave her a brief rundown of her recurring dream, and asked her if she could decipher its meaning.

"Hmm…" said Fennel after a short pause. "It's hard to say. I've never exactly heard of a case like this one."

"Has anyone ever had a Pokemon try to speak to them through their dreams?" asked Juniper.

"Yes, there have been recorded instances of it," Fennel explained. "But they are usually very rare. I've heard old stories of people hearing Pokemon speak to them in their dreams, encouraging them to do something. Some believed that if a Pokemon spoke to you in a dream, you should follow its advice in order to avoid disaster."

Juniper nodded as she mulled over the words. "So do you think I should listen to this voice? Should I go into the forest and meet with this Pokemon?"

"I can't say," Fennel said with a frown. "All I have to go off is stories from the past. I can't even validate whether said stories are true or not. Even if you go into the forest, I can't guarantee that you'll meet a Pokemon, or have the meaning of these dreams explained."

"I see…"

"But I do believe that this dream is important, and isn't something that can just be ignored," Fennel continued. "I would encourage you to go into the forest and try to discover the truth of these visions. You don't have much to lose, and you could possibly have some things cleared up at least."

"That's true," Juniper agreed. "In that case, I'll go tonight and hopefully get to the bottom of this."

"Pokemon contacting people through dreams," Fennel murmured with a somewhat dazed look. "It sounds fascinating. Let me know what you discover!"

"I will," said Juniper with a smile. "Wish me luck."

That evening, Juniper returned home. Her house was situated on the west side of Nuvema Town, and thus was right on the edge of the western side of the forest. Juniper parked her car and got out, and then stared into the trees that were bathed in the orange glow of the impending sunset. Juniper started walking towards the tree line, but soon stopped.

Am I really doing this? she wondered. She soon heaved a sigh and resolved to continue onward.

Juniper wandered into the trees, her sneakers snapping twigs underneath her. She continued to walk for about a minute, spotting an occasional Patrat or Pidove scurry off as she approached. She looked around her, not seeing anything resembling the Pokemon in her vision. She continued walking for another minute, and just as she was about to give up, she heard a whisper in her ear.

"Further…"

Juniper stopped in place and glanced around. She didn't see anything nearby except the trees. "Hello?" she called.

It was silent for a moment, and then, "Come further…"

Juniper once again looked behind her, but saw nothing. Her uneasiness began to rise. This is just like my dream…

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Juniper continued onward. Every few seconds, the whisper would repeat in her ear, "Further, further…" Even though the voice didn't specify a direction, she felt like it was guiding her through the trees.

Eventually, she came upon a small clearing. At this point, the whisper had disappeared. She glanced back and forth. Just as she was about to call out, something otherworldly cut her off.

A huge beam of light descended from the sky. It hit the ground in front of Juniper, right in the middle of the clearing. A large gust of wind accompanied it as it struck, causing the trees to shake in the breeze. Juniper planted her feet firmly in the ground as her lab coat billowed behind her. Even her hair which was always kept neatly in a bun threatened to break loose. She covered her eyes to shield them from the beam of light.

And then, without warning, the light dissipated into a burst of sparkles. As the remnants of the light faded and Juniper's eyes started to refocus, she noticed a large creature standing before her. It resembled the four-legged Pokemon from her dreams, only this time it wasn't obscured by mist. She could finally see it in all its glory.

The Pokemon was tall and predominantly white. It had four strong legs that each ended in a golden point. It had a long neck with a streak of gray running down its front and onto its underbelly. Its face was gray as well, and was surrounded by a wispy white mane that flowed away from its head into a fine point. It had round green eyes with red pupils. A golden cross-like wheel inlaid with green gems circled the middle of its body. A wispy tail resembling its mane stretched out from the end of it.

Juniper recognized it in an instant. She had seen it numerous times in books and paintings. Nevertheless, she could hardly believe what she was seeing. She quickly grabbed the trunk of a nearby tree to prevent herself from falling to her knees. Most people would go their entire lives without ever catching a glimpse of this legend. And yet here she was staring at it, plain as day.

"Arceus…" she breathed, almost in disbelief.

The red eyes stared straight down at her. Aurea Juniper

Juniper was speechless as she heard her name echo inside of her head. For the first time, she realized that the voice had not been whispering in her ear. It was speaking directly into her mind. "I don't believe it…" she whispered. "Is…is this for real?"

Arceus continued to stare at her. His mere presence exuded majesty and radiance. Do not doubt your eyes. It is I.

Juniper quickly recognized its voice as the same one from her dreams. "Are you the one who called me here?"

Yes…the Pokemon rumbled, its voice as commanding as ever. I have been eager to meet you. I have a request to make of you…

A request? wondered Juniper. Her thoughts quickly went back to the conversation in her dream, and quickly recalled that the voice had mentioned a task. "There's something you need me to do?"

Yes…Arceus rumbled once more.

Juniper took a moment to try and steady herself. She let go of the nearby tree and stood up straight. She could still hardly believe that she was talking with Arceus, often considered a deity among Pokemon and possibly even the creator of the universe. And yet here it was, asking her for a favor.

"What could you possibly need from me?" Juniper asked, sounding a little frightened.

Arceus stared at her for a moment before slowly lifting its regal head up. Please, heed my words…I sense a great darkness approaching us in the future. Pokemon with great power and evil intent are currently plotting and scheming. If left unchecked, a great calamity will surely ravage the world…

In order to prevent such a disaster, I have battled this evil as best I can, and I have succeeded in subduing these Pokemon for the time being. However, the battle is far from over. Before long, the evil will surely rise again…

Juniper listened intently with bated breath. Once again, she doubted what she was hearing. Her mind was racing with questions. A great evil? A future calamity? "B-But," she stuttered, "Arceus, you are incredibly powerful, aren't you? Won't you face these evil Pokemon again when they arise?"

Arceus closed its eyes for a moment. I am very powerful, yes, but even I have my limits. This recent battle has taken its toll on me. I may not appear it, but I am currently very drained, and will require a great rest in order to regain my strength. At this rate, I fear I will not be able to best them a second time…

Juniper placed a hand on her temple. This news frightened her most of all. "But then what are we to do? If even you can't stop them, is the world doomed?"

Arceus stared at her once more. No…Not all hope is lost. Among the Pokemon loyal to me, one has glimpsed the future, and has foretold a prophecy…Arceus paused as its eyes gleamed for a moment. This prophecy tells of a Pokemon soon to be born. One that will grow to be extremely powerful, and will one day save us from the coming threat. As long as this Pokemon is born and raised, the world will be saved from the coming ruin. Of this, I have no doubt…

However, Arceus continued, the prophecy details that this Pokemon will not be born through normal circumstances. No, it clearly states that its life will be considered special from the beginning…

Arceus paused as its voice shifted drastically. It suddenly sounded lighter and more feminine, and it almost seemed like the Pokemon was repeating a recording of the prophecy.

"The infant, born of egg, born of woman. The one to save many from impending doom…"

Arceus paused once more before resuming its normal deep voice. Do you understand what this means, Aurea Juniper? The Pokemon must be born out of a human woman.

Juniper was just standing in stunned silence as she absorbed all of this information. A Pokemon born of a woman!? After a short while, the words started to come to her. "I don't understand…What does this all mean?"

Arceus broke his gaze with her in order to look at her body from head to toe. I am here to ask for your assistance in making this prophecy come true. A woman must conceive and carry a Pokemon egg within her. And the woman I have chosen for this task, is you, Aurea Juniper…

Juniper felt her chest tighten as these words echoed in her head. Her breathing became a bit more uneven and panicked. All she felt was shock.

Arceus looked her in the eye. I am here to ask that you be the one to carry the Pokemon within you. The one that will save many from disaster.

"Me!?" she asked, finally finding her voice. "You want me to…to become…pregnant…? With a Pokemon egg?"

Arceus slowly nodded. Yes, this is the task I ask of you…

Multiple thoughts raced through Juniper's mind. The entire situation was so strange that disbelief weighed heavily on her. "I can't believe this," she whispered, looking down.

Do not doubt Arceus told her. What I have said is true…

"But, I still don't understand!" Juniper exclaimed. "A woman can't conceive a Pokemon egg! It's impossible!"

Arceus slowly shook his head. Trust me, Aurea Juniper. I would not have contacted you if it was impossible. This task is within my power. I can make it happen…

Juniper heeded his words, despite her confused and frantic thoughts. "But still, why do you need a human for this task? If it's a Pokemon egg, shouldn't a Pokemon be carrying it?"

Perhaps…Arceus admitted. But as I've already stated, the prophecy details that this Pokemon will be extraordinary. It must be born of a woman. Otherwise, the prophecy will not come true…

How do you know!? Juniper wanted to retort, but she refrained. She knew that she wouldn't be able to change Arceus's mind. It already seemed convinced that the prophecy was solidified as truth.

Juniper took a minute to catch her breath as the news continued to sink in. Finally, she decided to pose another question.

"Why me?"

You are asking why I have chosen you for this task?

Juniper nodded.

It is fairly simple. Out of all the human women, I find you to be one of the most suitable for the task. You are young and healthy. You have a great love for Pokemon and study them with a passion. Your personality is mature and your heart is kind. I trust that you could carry this task out successfully. Thus, I have come to you…

Juniper felt both flattered and surprised. She had never imagined that a deity of Pokemon would think so highly of her and complement her so. But still, to become pregnant with a Pokemon egg…Such a task would certainly weigh heavily upon her in more ways than she could count. Doubt started to creep up in her mind.

"What if I refuse?" Juniper asked.

Arceus closed his eyes for a moment and frowned. Then I will have to search for another. I would rather avoid this, since my power is waning and my time is short. But please understand, this task is not something I am forcing on you. If you are not up to it, then I shall simply leave you alone.

"You're giving me a choice?" asked Juniper, still in disbelief.

Of course. It is a daunting task. Not one that should be undertaken lightly…

Juniper nodded and slowly lowered her gaze until she was staring at the ground beneath her. It is a daunting task indeed. To become pregnant with a Pokemon egg in order to save the world from a future disaster? How could I possibly make such an important choice?

After deliberating for a while, she eventually said, "I don't know what to say…This is all a lot to take in. I'm still not sure I believe it…"

It is understandable said Arceus, his voice full of forgiveness. I understand that this is an important decision, one that will require much thought. And I have certainly given you much to think about…

Without warning, Arceus suddenly stood tall and planted its feet in the ground. I will give you 24 hours to consider what I have told you and to make a decision. I wish I could afford to give you more time, but I am afraid I have little time available myself. Please think it over carefully. Once you have reached a decision, come back to this spot and call my name.

Juniper just watched as Arceus began to grow with a bright light. Its feet soon lifted off the ground and the Pokemon hovered there as its body shone brighter.

Whatever your decision, I will be awaiting your answer. Farewell, Aurea Juniper…

And without another word, Arcues disappeared into a burst of light, leaving Juniper completely alone in the forest clearing. Once again, she felt her legs begin to tremble, and she feared she might fall to her knees. After a long while, she finally started walking back home.

That night, Juniper sat in her home, heavily considering everything she had experienced over the last few days, from her recurring dreams to her conversation with a legendary Pokemon. Once she had decided that she was not delusional, and that she had not been experiencing a hallucination, she set about thinking about what had been asked of her.

To become pregnant with a Pokemon egg…

Juniper took a deep breath, ending in a sigh. She started to wonder if anyone had ever been impregnated by a Pokemon before. She knew that there were ancient tales of people and Pokemon living together like family, some even marrying one another. There were also stories that claimed that people and Pokemon were once indistinguishable from one another, suggesting that they were originally the same species, but who could verify if any of these tales were true? At the end of the day, they were still just stories, and they certainly didn't solve her predicament.

For a moment, Juniper considered calling Fennel again, and relaying the predicament to her, but ultimately decided not to.

This is personal she thought. This is my decision to make, and no one else's.

Juniper slowly placed a hand on her flat stomach, and tried to imagine what it would be like to be pregnant. Pregnancy was known to place a heavy burden on women for a long period of time, making lots of activities strenuous and energy consuming. Would it be something that she would be able to handle?

Juniper soon thought back to her younger days, when she and her father had been backpackers, hiking the roads and mountains at their leisure with huge packs strapped to their backs. She had been quite athletic back then, and even though her muscles had likely dulled throughout the years while she worked as a professor, she still felt like her body was young and full of energy. She doubted the pregnancy itself would be too taxing on her.

A more pressing issue she thought, will be how this pregnancy will affect my life…

Juniper knew that the repercussions of a pregnancy were not to be taken lightly. For one thing, there was her social life, or more specifically, her romantic life. Juniper had never really experienced a serious romance. All she had ever known was just a few dates with odd guys throughout the years. She had never found a serious partner, let alone a marriage candidate.

But Juniper was still fairly young, only in her early 30's. She could potentially still find love and marry...but an unplanned pregnancy could easily throw a wrench into that. After all, how many men would be interested in single mothers that had children to look after? And hers would be a Pokemon child, no less.

And not only would marriage possibly be forsaken, but the possibility of becoming a mother to human children might be forfeit as well. After all, if there was no man to sire said children, she would be left with only a Pokémon as her heir. Would she be satisfied with that? Juniper couldn't help but wonder what her father would think about such a thing...

But at the same time, this might be my only chance she wondered. If she hadn't found a marriage candidate after all these years, who's to say she ever would? For all she knew, this could be her only chance to ever even have a child and experience pregnancy. If this was going to be her only opportunity to experience such a thing in life, shouldn't she seize it while it was before her?

And then there was the topic of motherhood…Would she be able to raise a child by herself? To be honest, Juniper had never even really imagined herself becoming a mother. She was usually too concerned with work to ever consider such things. Did she even have what it took to be a mother? And to a Pokemon, of all things? She had spent her entire life raising Pokemon, but she had never experienced a parent and child relationship with one. Surely, that would be bizarre...

And then, another fear popped into her head: What would people say? A surprise pregnancy out of nowhere for the single professor would certainly have the town talking, likely spreading cruel rumors about her. And worse yet, what would they think when she inevitably birthed a Pokémon egg? Surely she would be looked down upon as some kind of freak by society...

If I do this…thought Juniper, my life will never be the same…She silently clasped her hands together as she continued to consider all her doubts.

However, despite all the negative feelings she had weighing her down, Juniper still felt a small fire stirring in her heart. Even now, Arceus's words continued to ring in her thoughts:

I find you to be one of the most suitable for the task.

Whether she liked it or not, she had been chosen. Chosen by a legendary Pokémon to assist in preventing a future disaster. To help bring hope to the world when things seemed doomed. The way Arceus made it sound, someone had to do it. Why not her? She had already been chosen after all. Maybe she was meant to do this. Maybe she was born to do this.

Once that thought crossed her mind, the fire stirring within in her started to swell. Her confidence and bravery slowly started to grow. Her doubts gently began to slip away.

I can do this…

The next morning, Juniper woke up earlier than usual. She quickly dressed, and then hurried out the door. Instead of heading to her car, she went straight for the woods, and soon found herself following the invisible path she had travelled yesterday.

Before long, she arrived at the forest clearing. Juniper glanced around. All was eerie and quiet in the sun's morning rays. No one was around.

"Arceus?" Juniper spoke, sounding a little timid. She waited a moment, but there was no response. And she was still alone. For a second, she considered simply walking away, but she soon felt her courage welling up within her.

Juniper planted her feet firmly in the ground, and stood tall. "Arceus!" she called out in a loud voice. "I will do it! I will carry the Pokémon."

Hello everyone. As I'm sure you gathered, this story will be about Professor Juniper conceiving and carrying a Pokemon egg. This will be one of potentially many stories in the "Pokemon Pregnancy" series. I plan to explore other characters going through a similar situation in due time. For now, I've started with Professor Juniper, because she is one of my favorite female Pokemon characters. She's just so lovely.

This story was inspired by the "Pokemon Pregnant Generation" series that was written by Infierno4551 on Deviantart many years ago. Unfortunately, those stories never got very far, but I plan to write something similar here.

This concept bears a resemblance to old stories of Greek gods descending down to earth to have children with mortals. I always kind of liked that idea, and wondered how it would work in the Pokemon world. Could legendary Pokemon descend down to earth to have children with human women? I mean, sure, why not?

If this sort of story sounds interesting to you, then please, look forward to more.
