Attending the Recommendation Exams was a great experience. Izuku got to show off his abilities as a wolf and person. Since staying with Shouta he had gained some much needed weight and muscles. He no longer looked like he was on the verge of starving.

The physical aspect of the exam had been easy for him. He was faster in his wolf form than most kids his own age. Only a boy with engines in his legs was able to keep up. They had pushed each other to move faster and do better.

Once the physical trials were over they had a meeting with Nezu. Izuku's meeting was him working on analysis. It had been pure luck on the rat's side to find out about his skill in analysis. He had been writing in one of his notebooks on Shouta's couch when Nezu came for a visit. That jump started the rats interest in his mental capacity.

Now that he was done with his exam Izuku headed for the teacher lounge. Other potential students were headed for the gates. Noticing that he wasn't following them Blue immediately came back from him.

"Hey you can't go that way," shouted Blue as he tried to grab Izuku's arm but the green haired boy danced away from him, "We have to leave now that the exams are over."

Izuku stared at the boy for a moment. Did this kid really think he didn't know the rules? Or was he simply being obtuse? He was going to have a hard time in the school if he was accepted with an attitude like that.

Slowly Izuku raised a hand to the bandana that lay around his neck. He maneuvered it slightly so that the Emblem was obvious. To those not in the know it was simply a pair of goggles but those who were or should be in the know would recognize it. A Hero's Emblem only given to a partner or potential partner.

Blue barely glanced at it before he said, "That means nothing. You have to leave."

Izuku felt his face heat up in anger. Stupid kid. He didn't know what he was talking about. He didn't have to leave unlike them.

"Izuku," came a familiar shout, "There you are. You were supposed to come to the lounge right after the exams. What are you doing out here still?"

Shou... Izuku turned to see his soulmate crossing the grounds. From the corner of his eye he saw Blue stiffen before looking between them. There was a widening of Blue's eyes when he saw the grey scarf and goggles hidden just beneath them. Izuku felt glee at seeing it recognizing that the boy realized he fucked up. Good thing for him, Izuku didn't have any appointments for training today.

Shouta stopped his jog looking between Izuku and Blue. Blue had a faint blush of embarrassment when the cold dark eyes fell upon him. They then turned to Izuku and warmed considerably.

"Are you well? How did you do in the exam?"

Izuku signed excitedly, 'It went great! I think I placed pretty high in the rankings.'

Shouta said nodding, "Good let's head back to the school now. I think next Nezu has a packet of analysis for you."

More? Excitement filled his chest. Packets tended to have anywhere between 10 and 15 quirks to analyze. Without thinking about it he was already heading towards the school. Behind him he heard Shouta telling the others to leave.

...

The next day, found Izuku waiting at a training facility. He stood in his wolf form, black fur with green tips well groomed. At last weight in, he was 260 pounds and it was all muscle. Muscle that tensed and released with his pent up energy. Shouta stood off to one side talking with Mandalay.

Today they were going to work on tracking. He was going to use the equipment to simulate tracking a scent through different terrains. It was an exciting prospect. Earlier trainings had been working on bringing down criminals with just enough force to hurt but not do significant amounts of damage. His fangs could and would tear through muscle and his bite could break bone. The job he had was to subdue not harm. With this training his job would be to seek and find the scent.

After a few moments Shouta came back to stand by his side. Izuku dropped into a sit forcing his muscles to relax. Controlling his instincts was an ongoing battle. Shouta and Nezu had been working with him on it but there were still times he struggled. Particularly if it was close to the full moon.

Shouta began to explain, "Alright Izuku. Just bring the ball back to me. That's how we are going to start."

Izuku blinked dumbly at the man. What? He didn't understand but the moment the ball came out his focus was on it. There was a faint scent of treats on it. The wolf side was right there at the front of his mind. Wolf and human were there together.

Then the ball was thrown it hit the wall before going out of sight. Izuku waited to be released. Just like with everything else he had to learn how to act. Even if he was human he had to act like the members that were full animal. His wolf side needed to be trained like a dog. Due to his near starvation his wolf side was very food motivated.

Quietly Shouta ordered, "Release."

And like a bullet he took off scenting the air for the scent. He followed it to the wall before heading off to the right. The scent tracked under one of the bins. He couldn't put his paw under it but his paw was too large to fit. A growl escaped his throat before he pushed his shoulder against the bin. At first it didn't move but another large push and it moved. This allowed him to grab the ball and return it to Shouta.

Sit, drop the ball, wait, release. Then it was rinse and repeat. All the while Mandalay watched them taking notes.
