Descent Into Darkness
It was as though my body knew something that my head did not, some primal instinct buried beneath morals and courtesy, one that said don't continue - don't move. Stay put, and nothing bad would happen. While my head disagreed, it said move - keep going. The only way to survive is to get out. My body was a war zone, one that had mortal consequences if the wrong side won.
Hello there~ This is my very first fanfiction, and I am working very hard on it. I would love some constuctive-criticism, but please try to be nice about it. I appreciate it, thank you!
Now, this is pretty much just a fanfiction of the events of the game in, of course, Daniel's POV. The prologue doesn't have that many spoilers, unless you haven't played the game at all. And if you have no clue at all what Amnesia: The Dark Descent is than I recommend you go to youtube and look up either Pewdiepie's or Tobuscus's walktrough - they are both pretty funny about it but with rather crude humor so, you have been warned.
Anyway, if the prologue gets somewhat good reviews than I will keep working on it and posting it up so... hopefully you guys will like it!

Prologue
Don't forget...
Some things mustn't be forgotten.
The shadow hunting me... I must hurry.
My name is Daniel, I live in London at... at...ah... Mayfair...
What have I done?
This is crazy.
Don't forget, don't forget. I must stop him.
Focus! My name is... is...
I am Daniel.
Slowly, I awoke to the sound of rain pouring outside. My head pounded, and I drifted in and out of consciousness for what seemed like an eternity. I was on the floor, the uneven stones digging uncomfortably into my side and I closed my eyes for the umpteenth time, slowly trying to get my bearings. I had no clue of where I was or who I was - for that matter. Save for my name, Daniel. But Daniel what? Was that even my name? Or some stray thought of another person - a friend or, even an enemy? My mind raced, unable to grasp it all. Who am I? I didn't know - couldn't seem to know; as if there were some barrier set in my mind so that, when I thought back on it, I hit a blank wall.
My breaths came in slow gulps and I rolled onto my elbows before I took another breath and heaved myself to my feet. Shakily, I took a few unsteady steps forward, my palm - cold and wet with sweat - rested on my aching forehead. I stood there for a few heartbeats and examined my surroundings. To my right was a small archway, and to my left another similar archway - the stone walls lit gray-ly by the filtered sunlight streaming in from the dark sky outside, the large windows casting criss-crossed shadows across the floor. Standing much closer to the left archway I stepped cautiously forward and peered through.
A muffled clap of thunder sounded outside and I froze, the sudden light illuminating the room with a cold blue light - lasting only a second. The corridor, or what seemed like a corridor, had collapsed and was completely caved in with no way to get through. Seemed I wasn't going that way.
My eyes narrowed as they readjusted to the dark and I turned away from the corridor. Shifting to the right, I noticed a wooden door, studying it for a few seconds before carefully clutching the handle. The door groaned stubbornly as I pushed my weight forward, shivering at the skin prickling noise, this castle surely was old. Sliding it upon it's hinges, I opened it fully revealing a room that was longer than it was wide with a single desk accompanied by a chair sitting in the center of it, one lone candle upon the desk's wooden top. It illuminated it's surroundings with a dim yellow light which, in this atmosphere, didn't encompass any warmth at all. Next to the candle was a grey cylinder, which I immediately recognized as a tinderbox, used to light candles and fires. I eagerly grabbed it, having a subconscious feeling that I would need it later.
Flipping the lid, I poured the contents out upon the desk, the metal fire-striker and flint clanging loudly against the dark wood. Good, it all seemed unused. It would be easy to light a fire with this. I replaced the objects into the tinderbox and quickly left the small room, closing the wooden door with a loud clunk behind me before surveying the hall once more.
Stepping forward I glanced around. Perhaps I had missed something? Maybe, I had missed some clue that would help me get out of here, or - at least help me find out where here was. My foot suddenly connected with some slimy substance and made a rather disgusting squelch. I grimaced and lifted my foot to see what I had stepped in, half expecting to see some pile of rotting flesh. Much to my relief it wasn't a half-rotted pile of human corpse, but rather a sticky, gooey substance that had a similar consistency to liquid medication - it was a rather pleasant shade of light pink , I noted with dry humor.
Kneeling down I studied the mystery liquid closer. It seemed like some sort of potion or elixir - something made in a lab. And that fragrance - Damascus Rose? What a strange ingredient for a potion. If it was one, anyway. I clicked my tongue as I ran the possibilities over in my head. What had it been made for? And why was it around me when I woke up? Had I taken the elixir? It was possible, I have no memory, I could have forgotten that I had taken it... Or perhaps, this was what had caused my amnesia? I put off the thought, why on Earth would I do something like that to myself? I shook my head, no point in thinking about it now, I needed to find a way out of here.
I trailed my eyes along the scattered drops of the pink elixir - which reminded me of a trail or rose petals one might see at a wedding or such similar ceremony. It lead down the hall and through the small archway and I stood; following the trail might be my best hope of uncovering the secrets locked up in my mind. I knew they were there. I could FEEL them.
I bit my lip, a bit nervous to find out what had happened. What if... I had purposely made myself forget something - something terrible? Then what? Is it for me to uncover all that again? Pushing those thoughts aside, I straightened my back, as if bracing myself for what lie ahead, and trudged forward into the eerie darkness of this lonely castle...
