In the night, birds chirped, a light breeze blew, and down below, a crowd waited anxiously for what was to come.

"Offne deine Augen. Open your eyes." An older gentleman held out a glowing yellow candle.

On his lap was a young boy, dressed in a nice suit and wearing a baseball cap. He had his eyes shut tight but was slowly opening them. His eyes lit up when he saw the magical candle in front of him.

"This is where our magic comes from?" he asked in wonderment.

"Ja, zis candle holds ze miracle given to our family."

"How did we get a miracle?"

The man pulled the young boy up onto his lap and settled him in for a story. "Long ago, ven my three babies had just been born, your Oma und I vere forced to leave our home. Und zough many joined us, hoping to find a new home…" His voice trailed off as he forced himself to relive painful memories.

"Ve could not escape ze dangers, und your Oma vas lost."

The young boy listened, on the edge of his grandfather's lap.

"But in our darkest moment, ve vere given a miracle. Ze candle became a magical flame zat could never go out und it blessed us vith a refuge in vich to live. A place of vonder."

The young boy already knew what it was. "An Encanto."

"An Encanto. Ze miracle grew, und our house, our Haus itself, came alive to shelter us. Ven my children came of age, ze miracle blessed each vith a magic gift to help us. Und ven zeir children came of age…"

The boy was now bouncing up and down. "They got magic too!"

"Zat's right. Und together our family's gifts have made our new home a paradise! Tonight, zis candle vill give you your gift, mein Leben. Strengthen our community, strengthen our home. Make your family proud."

The boy nodded solemnly. "Make my family proud."

"Ja, alzough you somehow have a British accent zat none of your siblings have."

The floorboards bounced up and down, and a clock rolled towards the two men. "Yes, Haus, ve are going."

"What do you think my gift is going to be?"

The man sunk onto his knees to be on his grandson's level and held the boy close. "You are a vonder, Wakko Warner. Vatever gift you receive vill be just as special as you are."
