Naruto Uzumaki and his time at Hogwarts: Side Stories

Chapter 1: A Week With the Grangers

Setting: Between Years 1 and 2

Naruto had just been offered to stay a week with the Grangers as he wanted to explore London before beginning his training with Jiraiya the next week. Naturally he accepted as he wanted to keep in touch with his best friend and see the sights and so forth. Soon he arrived at the place as the Grangers and he got out of the car. "Well here we are, this is our house you will be staying in," Mrs. Granger explained. "It's a nice place you got, kind of homy to be honest," Naruto complimented, as Hermione's parents nodded. Mr. Granger was taking the luggages out of the car trunk, as Naruto walked up to him. "Want me to help you out, sir?" Naruto offered. "It's alright Naruto, you go on ahead inside, I got this," he said. "Come on, I'll show you your room that you'll be staying in," Hermione said, as the blond nodded.

"Thanks for inviting me to your place, it really means a lot," Naruto said, as Hermione nodded. "It's fine and besides I wanted to make your summer holidays a lot more enjoyable and what better way to start off by showing you around the city," Hermione stated. The two soon arrived at the spare room and the room may be a bit bland given it only has a bed, nightstand, and closet, but to Naruto it was way better than what he had back home: a crappy apartment, that no kid should live in. "Thank you, Hermione," Naruto said in a small voice. "I know you don't get a lot of time with your parents, so to take up some of that by having me here…it means a lot. And I don't need to have this room! I'd happily sleep on the sofa if I'm taking up too much room," Naruto said. "Nonsense, you're our guest and you're welcome. Besides, my parents wanted to meet you and so much more," Hermione stated, waving it off. "But still, thank you…really," Naruto said, showing a true smile. The brunette softly smiled and nodded before leaving the room.

However as she left, she heard the blond silently cry, which wounded her heart. She knew of what Naruto went through growing up from his homeworld, of how he lived and never got to experience a normal childhood or what it was like to have a family, ever since he told her and the group of his past. She vowed to at least make Naruto's summer a lot more enjoyable, it's the least she could do given how the blond has done so much for them. Soon it was night time, as dinner was coming up. Naruto had just gotten down stairs to join the Grangers for dinner. "So uh what's for dinner?" Naruto asked. "Well we were thinking of having takeout, but we figured that since you're the guest, you have the right to choose," Mrs. Granger stated. "Oh it's fine really, you guys can choose, I don't know what to suggest really," Naruto embarrassingly chuckled. "Well I guess we can go with a pizza, does that seem fair?" Mr. Granger asked, as everybody nodded. "That's fine, except that well…what's pizza?" Naruto asked. The Granger's eyes bulged in shock hearing what the blond said, as Naruto sweatdropped.

"Wait kid, you're telling us that you never had pizza?!" Mr. Granger asked in shock, as the blond shook his head. "Sorry it's just that from where I come from, we don't have or rather we never heard of pizza," Naruto stated. "Well then instead of telling you, why not experience the food itself," Mrs. Granger stated, as she began to order the pizza. Soon the pizza arrived and it was a classic pepperoni and cheese and as the four ate, the lovable blond experienced a whole new wonder. "Oh my god, this tastes amazing! Who knew pizza could taste so great?!" Naruto stated happily as he took another slice, while the Grangers chuckled at the blond's excitement. "Glad to see that you're enjoying it so much," Hermione stated, as Naruto embarrassingly smiled but chuckled. After dinner was over, they all soon went to bed as tomorrow was going to be the day the Grangers give Naruto a tour of London.

The Next Day

Naruto wakes up smiling as it was a brand new day and today is the day he's going to be given a tour of the city. Getting out of bed, he heads out of the room to see that Hermione was walking down the hall. "Oh *yawn* good morning Naruto," she said, greeting the blond. "Morning Hermione," Naruto said, as the two headed to the bathroom to brush their teeth. After that was done, the two headed to the kitchen for breakfast as they excitedly talked about what they're going to do today. "Morning Hermione, morning Naruto," Mrs. Granger greeted the two, as they also greeted the parents. "Alright breakfast is served, dig in everyone," Mr. Granger said, coming in as he places pancakes on the plates, along with eggs and bacon. It was a lively time as everyone talked about what is going to happen today. After breakfast, the four got ready for the day as the city tour was going to commence.

The first place Naruto went to for the tour was Big Ben, as Naruto was amazed by the clock tower. "Who knew people could make structures like this," Naruto said in astonishment, as even though he might've seen it with Harry when they flew in Hagrid's bike, never before did he actually see the clock tower by itself. "You would be amazed by what people could make when they put their minds to it," Hermione said, as she gave the blond some information about the clock tower as the blond listened with interest. "Alright kids, let me take a couple of pictures," Mrs. Granger said, as she prepared the camera. A couple of the photos were of the Granger family and Naruto together, some of them were Naruto and Hermione making a couple of poses, while the rest were of just Naruto. The next place on the list was Parliament, then it was Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Piccadilly Circus, the British Museum, and other interesting parts of London. All in all, it was a pretty cool day for Naruto as he got to know a lot about the city of London.

The Next Day

Naruto wakes up and heads to the kitchen to see that Hermione was there, but her parents weren't there. "Morning Hermione, where are your parents?" he asked. "They're at work, so we have the house to ourselves," she explained. After breakfast, the two decided to get their summer homework done first before going about the next thing to do. They soon decided to watch a movie together and since it was Naruto's first time watching a movie, the very first movie they decided to watch was the original Star Wars. Sitting on the same sofa with a bowl of popcorn, the two sat down together watching the film and as the film went on, slowly but surely did Naruto grow to love movies and in general his love for Star Wars grew as well. "Well what did you think of the movie?" Hermione asked. "That was awesome, I mean sure in my world we had some movie theaters but I never got a chance to see a film given my condition along with availability. But the movies back home don't even compare to what I just watched, especially with the story, effects and everything," Naruto said excitedly. "Oh trust me you're going to love the sequel, here let me put it on," Hermione said, as she put on the next film of the trilogy. The two spent the whole afternoon just watching the Star Wars trilogy, while also enjoying each other's company as they talked. Heck they even both agreed that Empire Strikes Back had to be the best one of the trilogy.

The Next Few Days

Naruto had been enjoying his time at the Granger's residence as never before did he actually feel like a normal kid. He didn't have to worry about whether he was going to live the next day or not, whether he was going to be picked on, or any bad thing that had happened to him back home. During his time there, he had picked up many new interests such as watching movies, playing games, or even leisurely reading. That's right, around some time Naruto actually took up reading as a hobby ever since he learned why Hermione enjoyed that hobby before she found out she was a witch. With that knowledge, the first ever story Naruto read was All Quiet on the Western Front and it gave him much insight as to what the time period was like and how wars had differed from here to back home and how it was all just the same. Anyways right now was the final day Naruto stayed at the Granger residence and to make this day special, the Grangers decided to take Naruto to see a movie with them and the movie was Batman Returns. "Aren't you excited that you're finally going to see a movie in a theater?" Hermione asked the blond who just took a sip into his drink. "I mean yeah, after seeing the first film with you guys last night, this sequel better be something to remember," Naruto stated. "I'm sure it will be something, but anyways the movie is about to start," Mr. Granger said. Soon the movie started and as the movie played out, Naruto was glued to the screen as he didn't even ask any questions, he could only watch with interest.

After the movie was done, the four walked out of the theater. "Well what did you think of the movie?" Mrs. Granger asked. "That…was…AWESOME! I mean it was over the top and a bit zany at times, but the movie was miles better than the first one. Heck I hope the sequel better be this cool," Naruto said not knowing what he said is going to be the exact opposite in the near future. "Well I'm glad you enjoyed it, because I've been waiting for this sequel since 1989 and it didn't disappoint," Mr. Granger stated. "Anyways if you two are done talking about the film, I believe that since tonight is Naruto's last night at our residence, I believe this time it's his choice as to where he wants to eat out," Mrs. Granger stated. Naruto thought about it until he had an idea, "Oh I know since you guys introduced me to many different kinds of food, why not I introduce you to a favorite dish of mine back home, assuming they have it here," Naruto said. "What's the dish called?" Mrs. Granger asked. "The food of the gods: RAMEN!" Naruto said enthusiastically. "I'm down for that," Hermione said in support, as she never had ramen before and seemed interested in the meal. "Well there is a ramen restaurant in town that just opened, we can head there," Mr. Granger mentioned. "Sweet, let's go there!" Naruto said, as the Grangers laughed at the boy's excitement before heading to the restaurant. The four entered the restaurant and ordered their ramen and sure enough the four decided to get the Miso Pork ramen. When that was done, the four eventually left the restaurant. "Phew, that was some amazing ramen, though it still doesn't hold a candle to Ichiraku's. Well what did you guys think of it?" Naruto asked. "That was rather amazing, I could've gone for another bowl had I not been full from the first one," Hermione said, as the others agreed. Soon they went home to end the night and before Naruto went to bed he called for Hermione. "Hey Hermione," Naruto called for the brunette as she finished brushing her teeth. "Yes Naruto? She asked. "I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to stay the week. It really was eventful and I haven't had this much fun in a while, so really, thank you," Naruto said gratefully. "Of course, you're my best friend and I haven't had this much fun in a while as well so really I should be thanking you for coming," she said. Naruto smiled and nodded before wishing her goodnight, as she did the same. All in all, the first week of summer vacation had to be the best one for the two.
