Marrie Brox stood in front of the mirror, just like five years ago. To her, she looked different. But she had the same hair color and eyes, but . . . there was something different. Her house phone rang, probably some marketer. Down the hall she could hear Justin Bieber's Baby remix song playing full blast and she groaned in annoyance. Every morning it was the same song!
"Bonnie!" Marrie yelled as she charged down the hallway. She hated that song. At first, she would sing to it with Bonnie but then it played every single morning, and it just got plain annoying. Marrie pushed the bedroom door that had:
Bonnie Jane
Written on the door. Bonnie stood in the middle of her room, brushing her black hair. Her hazel eyes shot up to meet her angry mother's brown ones.
"Yes?" she whispered. Marrie immediately deflated, how could she get mad at something so small?
"Just turn the music down, please." With that Marrie turned and walked back into her room. To tell the truth, she missed her old life. She could just go down the street and kill a Strigio but now she couldn't leave Bonnie alone for a second, something might attack her. When Bonnie was three, Marrie had taken her to the park, at night of course, and they were attacked by a Strigio. Before Marrie staked the thing he spat one a sentence that horrified Marrie to death.
"Her blood is intoxicating. Any Strigio would be able to smell it from miles around." Immediately Marrie put wards around the house and made sure to change them every week. Sighing, Marrie got up and went over to her dresser and changed. Her eyes landed on a picture of Lissa Dragomir and Rose Hathaway standing close together. Marrie was of course Rose, but she wasn't as mean and ruthless anymore.
"Mom! That special TV station is on!" Bonnie yelled from the living room. Marrie was on the couch in seconds, watching in curiosity at Queen Tatiana stood at a podium with Moroi reporters standing underneath her. Years ago, Queen Tatiana wanted a way to get word out to other supernaturals so she made a special TV program where you have to register to get it on your TV. Of course, Marrie had heard of it and registered as Marrie Brox: Dhampir.
"Thank you all for coming. I will like to announce that of today, all Strigoi are to be hunted down, rounded up, and staked with a spirit infused stake. Princess Vasilissa Dragomir figured out this cure when months ago she changed Guardian Dimitri Belikov back into a Dhampir," Marrie lost her breath when she heard his name. He was alive, back into a Dhampir. She looked at Bonnie who was mindlessly playing with some Barbie dolls Marrie had bought her for her second birthday. Maybe she could know her father! "If any Dhampir would like to round up Strigoi, capture one and bring it to the Royal Court where either Prince Adrian Ivashkov or Princess Vasilissa will change them back. Thank you."
Queen Tatiana nodded her head and got off the stage.
"Does that mean I can be like a normal girl now?" Bonnie asked. Marrie sighed.
"I don't baby." Bonnie looked like she wanted to talk more but the doorbell ringing cut her off. One of Marrie's clients was here. Quickly, Bonnie cleaned up all her stuff and ran into her room. Marrie straightened up her outfit before strutting up to the door and opening it. Standing there stood a moroi with his three guardians.
"Hello sexy," she purred and was joyed when she saw his pants tighten. "Follow me. Your Guardians can stay in the living room."
The Guardians whispered a couple words with the moroi before he followed after Marrie into her room.
Bonnie sat in her room, trying to block out the moans and gasps coming from her mom's room. The bed creaked in her mom's room and there were a couple shoats of "Uh uh!" and "Please, please, please!" coming from Bonnie's mom. Bonnie was used to this, as it happened every day, but she hated the way her mom paid the bills. She was old enough to understand that money doesn't come from trees and this was the only way her mom could make money so she doesn't have to leave Bonnie. She thought of that broadcast from the Queen, mom had acted weird when they said the Princess's name.
"STOP! YOU'RE KILLING HER!" Bonnie heard one of the guardians yell.
